Wheat bread vs. White bread

What do you prefer.........White bread or Wheat bread???

Bay Kid 06-18-2020 07:00 AM

White bread for tomato sandwiches. Everything else wheat (for health reasons!).

tophcfa 06-18-2020 08:14 AM

Neither, multi grain

karostay 06-18-2020 08:15 AM

Sourdough not in the poll

JSR22 06-18-2020 08:16 AM

Rye or pumpernickle

OrangeBlossomBaby 06-18-2020 08:28 AM

Depends on what I'm eating it with. For french toast, nothing beats white-flour challah. For pastrami - if it ain't rye, it ain't pastrami. Chopped liver must always be on pumpernickel. It's a law. For normal toast and sandwiches, I actually prefer honey-wheat to regular wheat but either is preferred to anything else.

For bagels, it has to be white flour, not wheat flour, and I prefer garlic or asiago to plain or egg.

It has to be 100% whole wheat bread don’t think if it says all wheat bread it’s not the same , the first ingredients should say 100% whole wheat or it not the best for you

Like white but my body tells me whole wheat or multigrain with high fiber content.

manaboutown 06-18-2020 09:37 AM

Back in the 1950s it seemed white bread was the most frequently consumed bread. We ate it along with rye and occasionally pumpernickel. I don't remember seeing much whole wheat or other types of bread on grocery store shelves. When I was in high school I got into weightlifting and a friend with whom I worked out referred to white bread as "paste". That stuck with me and I asked my mother to buy some whole wheat bread, which she did.

Today I rarely eat bread and then only multigrain. When I first visited Germany several years ago I loved the bread they had at breakfast time. It was tasty, and dense and was "real food" IMHO.

Being honest I like white bread but we all know 100%
whole wheat is much better for you.
Momma always bought Wonder Bread.

Pepperage Farm oatmeal

Chatbrat 06-19-2020 05:56 AM

For a real"hero" sandwich, real Italian bread with the dough scooped out and filled with salami, cappacolia ,prosciutto, peppercini's, provolone cheese, tomotato, olive oil, red wine vinegar & salt & pepper

Thats a samwich

For french toast, nothing beats white-flour challah. Try banana bread for the best french toast.

Sunflower seed bread from Publix bakery

Villages Kahuna 06-19-2020 06:47 AM

I love seeded rye and Chicago white from the Publix bakery. But I also love peanut butter or bologna and mayo on good old, soft Butternut!

Silliness is seriously underrated!:BigApplause::BigApplause:

meridian5850 06-19-2020 07:46 AM

I'm on a rye bread kick for sandwiches. For toast, it's Arnold's Health Nut.

jimjamuser 06-19-2020 08:29 AM

I like apples-you like apples--let's fall in love!

neelie 06-19-2020 08:39 AM

Neither I prefer sprouted spelt bread which I get from New Berlin Bakery. I order it. Wheat is full of gluten which I avoid

airstreamingypsy 06-19-2020 09:03 AM

Multi grain.

kendi 06-19-2020 09:42 AM

100% whole wheat (not enriched). Keeps me full longer than white.

Cindy619 06-19-2020 10:00 AM

White bread IS wheat bread!

I voted, assumed you meant "WHOLE WHEAT" bread. Yes?

retiredguy123 06-19-2020 10:12 AM

If you are buying packaged bread, either 100 percent whole wheat or white, there is really not a significant difference in the fiber content, calories, or other ingredients. I believe that a lot of people buy the whole wheat bread because they think it is healthier. Compare the labels.

sallybowron 06-19-2020 04:35 PM

I PREFER RYE BREAD FIRST THEN WHEAT BREAD SECOND. i ALSO LIKE DIFFERENT FLAVORED BREAD BEFORE WHITE.:coolsmiley:

Where is this business located? Would like to try it out.

Ezekiel bread is the probably the healthiest as it is made from sprouted grains and it is also very delicious.

Learned that awhile ago, always got to watch serving size bread companies very sneaky and give you fiber content for two slices.

No... I think there's a little more behind starting a post with just a fun, silly question.
THANK YOU dewilson58!!!! You're a wise person.

Hopefully, no one will be accused of being prejudiced because of their answer...

Our grandson used to call whole wheat brown bread. Luckily he now knows the actual name for it.

dewilson58 06-23-2020 10:31 AM

So it looks like Wheat Bread, Over-easy Eggs, with Bacon.
