Pitch and putt

Who ever is in charge of overseeing the ground conditions and how the lawn is maintained and cut should take a look and possibly speak to the people cutting the lawn. Played there yesterday and really is sad to see how poor the situation is.

They should just replace all the grass with artificial turf and properly rename it mini golf.

Played there two weeks ago, it was in very good shape.

I have played the course probably a half dozen times and have found it to be in excellent condition...... I do know that the greens were recently punched so that is perhaps the OP is complaining..... ???

Pinball wizard 06-20-2020 06:05 PM

or maybe they are confusing pitch and putt with putt and play

kansasr 06-22-2020 08:00 AM

It was pitch and putt

And I played it about the time of the OP's message and it was in pretty tough shape. However, I have a feeling it had just been recently maintained and not mowed property (lots of irregularities), but over the last couple of times it seems to have grown itself back into decent shape.

As a new golfer, I really enjoy the Marshview Pitch and Put. It is not mini golf and it does a disservice to those who like the course to talk about it derisively. If your golf skills have progressed beyond this course, there are, of course, many more options for you here in The Villages. I, for, one, will keep playing Marshview until I feel confident enough to get out on another course. All of you experienced golfers should be thankful that there is somewhere for people to learn that keeps them out of your way!

MatshView Pitch and Putt

Working there two mornings a week, it is my opinion that the course is given excellent care. Every comment I receive is very positive.

Whoa, skippy. Quit profiling all experienced golfers and think that none of us like to play Marshview. Mrs. KC and I (both low handicaps) like to occasionally play there and have lunch at one of the food trucks.

Our chip and putt grounds are not in bad shape, but they removed the large shade tree over the beaches. Some of us need a beach between the holes ,while we wait for some time slow or newer players.

1948JDG 06-25-2020 10:29 AM

Good for you!!!!!!

neptune5995 06-26-2020 06:13 AM

Played there again this week and yes the grounds were in much better shape.
So nice to see that action is taken to maintain the quality of what the concept of The Villages is.
The place is beautiful And again thanks

I’m not sure why I got tagged with “Skippy” - that’s an odd reaction- but I do appreciate you opening my eyes to why a more experienced golfer would play Marshview. Just be patient when you get matched with a newbie!:icon_wink:

My opinion is that regardless of ability of play we can have an 3xpe ration of a decent level ofcondion of course. We do past for it.

Can you please translate that into English ??? Thanks !

This course is a disaster. Poorly maintained. Sad. I will not play there again.

I don't believe that anyone's golf skills have ever progressed beyond a pitch and putt. This should be a very useful tool for anyone who is serious about improving their game. In fact, short game guru, Dave Pelz, has built a pitch and putt course on his learning facility in Texas.

The idea that a pitch and putt course is only for new golfers to learn on misses the point.

Put and Play

Well we are south of the turnpike. Developer is all about selling houses with fake promises. Property Manager needs to be fired. This isn’t the only place that is really bad. Nothing will be done until we standup and insist these things are taken care of. Love it here but they need to step it up. Wasn’t like this when we first came here 12 yrs ago.

Not sure the last time you played there but currently, the course is in EXCELLENT condition !!

I only wish that the courses north of 44 were in as good shape !

The original poster’s observations are a month old .

I was there this morning ........

Pitch & Putt courses are ok once in awhile for practice, but are a poor substitute for a full length (par 4's and 5's) or even an executive course. The developer likes the idea of "pitch and putt" and "putt and play" layouts because they use less land and enables them to jam in more houses on available land. And they can still claim to offer "free golf" to unsuspecting home buyers. It's no surprise that they would like to convert the Silver Lake executive course to a "pitch and putt" layout. Maybe cram some more housing in there too. Perhaps "mini golf" will be the next substitute for real golf courses.
