First Black Billionaire Mocks Cancel Culture and the Anarchists Toppling Statues
I have noticed that most of the groups currently defacing and tearing down statues are mostly white. What started with confederate generals has now expanded to former Presidents including Lincoln, former Union Generals like Grant, even Miguel de Cervantes, himself a former slave.
So I found these comments by Robert Johnson, founder of BET and America's first black billionaire interesting. “Look, the people who are basically tearing down statues, trying to make a statement are basically borderline anarchists, the way I look at it,” Johnson told Fox News on Wednesday. “They really have no agenda other than the idea we’re going to topple a statue.” “It’s not going to give a kid whose parents can’t afford college money to go to college. It’s not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it’s not going to take people off welfare or food stamps,” Johnson insisted. He insisted that the rioters tearing down statues “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying, ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South.'” “You know, black people, in my opinion, black people laugh at white people who do this the same way we laugh at white people who say we got to take off the TV shows." Robert Johnson also supports trillions in reparations for slavery, something I don't agree with. But there's no law that says I have to agree with everything someone thinks or says. There's only one person I agree with 100% of the time. :) I have also seen numerous reports that the families/descendants of many of the former women who portrayed Aunt Jemima are furious about the rebranding. They feel their family history is being erased and say these women were not slaves and enjoyed their nicely paying jobs. Google it if you care to read the reports. I also searched for families of former Aunt Jemimas support rebranding efforts, couldn't find any. If you search that, all you get are reports of them mad about the rebranding. |
I think most of his points are pretty obvious. But, does being a billionarie make your opinion more valuable?

I think his opinions on cancel culture and statue toppling are correct in that it is driven by white's mostly. |
Bottom line is the people doing the destruction should fined themselves in a jail cell very quickly
|
I also think the voices of various descendants of the Aunt Jemimas speak louder than all the wokeologists in the world.
|
Why is this destruction being allowed? When will it stop? These hooligans need to be arrested and severely punished. I'm dam well sick of this crap being allowed to continue. Of course the media keeps feeding the flames.

OK, I'll post this again then too, which goes a long ways in explaining the low #'s of black father's, since so many are in prison for much longer periods...than whites for the exact same offenses. :ohdear: Quote:

I don't understand rebranding either. There have been updates through the years and I would feel the same way as the family that I would rather they keep her picture on the label. We have come a long way from the bandana wrapped around Mammy's head and the updated labelling, in my humble opinion, was lovely.

And to hear that these bills are being created in memory of a convicted felon; a person, that among many other criminal acts, once held a gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman - VERY DISGUSTING THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. |

Is his opinion more valuable because he is a billionaire, no. His opinion is valuable because he sounds like he has a mind and brain that works. Which some people today seem to lack.

In North Dakota they made the University (UND) drop its 'Fighting Sioux' name but the tribe still wanted it....let's move on to important issues

I have a friend who told me yesterday that there is going to be a BLM protest march in her town in the northern Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania today (30 minutes from Allentown). She was excited about it and planning to march, but worried because people opposed to the march have promised to be there, armed. Why a march? Her town has under 3,000 people. There are no African-Americans living there. She hasn’t heard of any police brutality there. The town votes 95% red. That suggests that the BLM marchers are doing this in hope of starting a confrontation that will turn violent and make the news and cause a lot of bad publicity for those opposed. I begged her to stay home, and maybe she will. This is so sad to see.

Crazy it’s not white people it’s whichever network you’re watching ...who has been destroying businesses all over this country burning businesses, attacking owners shooting killing destroying lives but their lives didn’t matter. They were black and white. All of them should pay to repair all of the carnage
|
Those T-shirts should read “Fathers Matter”!!! (Look at the facts folks! )

2.2% of today's population would be 7.7 million people. That's a lot! |
I have mixed feelings about Johnson. He has also said he wants reparations payments. My ancestors all came here AFTER the Civil War, none ever owned or condoned slaves or slavery. There was such abhorrence of slavery in this country 160 years ago that those who opposed it banded together and took the reins of power in America from those who supported slavery. And when those same supporters seceded from the Union we fought a bloody war to end slavery and did so.We have provided program after program to raise up the downtrodden since then and still do.
A hand up most certainly. But never a hand out. |

The people who are taking down these statues are anarchists who only act on their own narrow beliefs. Who knows what those beliefs will be next week? What's next? |

Don't "erase" traitors and those who saw nothing wrong with owning other human beings...from our history. In fact, let's ensure that every school kid...knows ALL about them. Just don't idolize them...on public property. Especially since most of these statues/monuments were erected decades after the end of the Civil War and were primarily meant as a means of continuing Jim Crow laws...and intimidating black AMERICAN CITIZENS. http://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/98d32...seheritage.png |

Further, if you see the Confederates as trying to change a bad government, aren't the protesters (NOT LOOTERS OR RIOTERS) doing pretty much the same? |
Quote:
That being, one group is protesting for equal treatment and justice for black American Citizens and the other group not only didn't want blacks as American citizens (or even thought of as human beings)...but also wanted the right to own them like any other chattel. Other than that...they are exactly the same. :ohdear: |

Look at numbers
[QUOTE=ColdNoMore;1792017][SIZE="3"]Prager U...AGAIN? :oops:
Not sure point you’re trying to make regarding fatherless homes, but according to NAACP website, blacks ARE 5 times more likely incarcerated, yes. But average total backs incarcerated yearly is 2 million + while black Fatherless homes average 6 million + . SO, one can understand what the claim Fatherless homes are Possibly the number one cause Of black kids getting into trouble because taking out the 2 million in jail, where are the OTHER 4 million men? It doesn’t make it any easier, but I think Prager U makes a valid point. I know my Dad set me on a straighter path more than once in my life. More like .... more than a hundred😇. I pray every day for racism to go away and let this country heal and move onwards, but just like a few bad cops need to be weeded out and let all the good ones do their jobs, we need to call out the race baiters and Those that profit off the continuing of this horrible divide. We are all people. Racism is learned. Put a bunch of babies or toddlers in a room at a daycare and they see friends, not color. Why can’t we all. |

So why do we see so many, particularly here in TV...who don't think the same way? :ohdear: |

Serious question, what made you decide to judge the vast overall majority of protestors (who are doing so peacefully)...by the abhorrent actions of just a few? Were you outraged at all young white men and lump them all together, when Dylan Roof slaughtered black parishioners...in their own church? Do you judge all Baptist's and/or christians, by the disgusting actions and writings...of the Westboro Baptist Church? Etc., etc., etc. I'm just curious as to why you're now doing it...with Black Lives Matter? |

Mass killings, in many instances, are a result of an individual who is mentally unstable. I'm sad but not outraged when killings happen to innocent people. This BLM movement has left a very bad taste in my mouth and I can't get rid of it. "ALL LIVES MATTER" is criticized the BLM movement. Really? I'm disheartened it has come to this where all lives don't matter. |
