Covid at Bonifay

Has anyone heard that there are 2 staff members that have tested positive for the virus?

alwann 06-25-2020 03:57 PM

Tell me more. Just had lunch there.

bagboy 06-25-2020 07:08 PM

At first Bonifay was exercising good social distancing practices, especially at the bar. That soon went south with barstools absolutely jammed up against each other. It's disappointing Fred K. allows or orders this. I'm not surprised at this report, but I can't verify it. If true, it will become public. Employees are subject to bad Covid practices as are customers.

I read on Next Door Neighbor that an employee in the golf shop tested positive the other day. If that’s true why isn’t there an announcement in the paper or some type of media that if you were in the golf shop between certain dates that you may have come in contact. I’m just going by what I read on Next Door Neighbor. Have nothing to confirm that.

Do you think Fred K., whoever that is, actually orders the customers to sit close to each other?

We all need to look out for ourselves.

JoMar 06-25-2020 08:09 PM

Whoever Fred K is?

Not good news for sure if it is true. If it is, they need to let people know! If you read my post from a couple of days ago the golf shop employees checking people in at Havana and Evans Prarie were not wearing masks. These employees expose themselves to hundreds of people a day checking in for golf and shopping. They are in turn potentially exposing us. I totally don’t understand why they moved the golf check in and payment back into the club houses where you have to stand in line with others to check in who are also not wearing masks. The championship courses took many more safety precautions when the numbers of Covid were much lower than they are now!

Stu from NYC 06-25-2020 08:55 PM

This is why we avoid being close to others right now

No, but Fred K has a responsibility to keep up social distancing and all the other guidelines that allowed him to open his restaurant back up.

If the customers are too close together, Fred K should make them move.

Whoever Fred K is.

tophcfa 06-25-2020 09:50 PM

All the reopenings are not a good idea. Golf was safe when golf was the only thing open at the country clubs and it was cashless and everyone had to check in at the starters booth and only one person was allowed per cart. Opening the pro shops, bars, restaurants, etc... was basically opening a big a$$ can of Covid worms. And now they plan to open the town squares. Bad idea.

Debfrommaine 06-26-2020 04:22 AM

At some point we have to be responsible for ourselves. Wear your mask, stay out of restaurants, order groceries in until you have a good comfort level. And, get your toilet paper, sounds like that fear will be on the rise again too.

Bruce Carlson 06-26-2020 04:45 AM

Golf staff or restaurant staff?

mdfrog 06-26-2020 04:50 AM

Golf staff

Yes. I heard it from my barber's 2nd cousin's in-law's dog sitter's gardener. Just as reliable as social media. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

ColdNoMore 06-26-2020 05:23 AM

Even though signs are posted at the doors of the pro shops "recommending" masks, I haven't seen more than a handful of staff at the counters of at least 8 courses...wearing masks.

Exactly how does one even start...explaining that? :ohdear:

At least most have the marking on the floors for distancing (including the starter shacks), but the closest you are forced to get to anyone...is when paying or checking in (pro shop/starter).

So? It’s a virus just like a cold or the flu and you can’t hide from it. Your either going to get it or you won’t. You’ll either get over it or you won’t. It’s time people started dealing with that reality. The mortality rate is no worse than the flu. Anyone that is still paranoid needs to just stay home!

I agree with Leadbone 100%.

It’s truly sad that some people refuse to make inconveniently small sacrifices so that those who are at risk for their lives due to preexisting health issues don’t have to self imprison themselves.
They either still don’t understand that they should
wear masks to be responsible for the lives of others or they simply don’t care for their fellow citizens. Whichever, they certainly can’t deny that they know it helps stop the spread!
Wouldn’t trust them in my foxhole😳

Chatbrat 06-26-2020 06:15 AM

Not just Bonifay Village Dental, is also affected they were order to close

banjobob 06-26-2020 06:18 AM

Sure the cases of virus is going up, with the numbers of people being tested it had to happen . The big question are they systematic ,probably not everyone needs to protect themselves if concerned. Not spread I heard rumors about this place or that place or so and so didn’t wear a mask . All have free will do what you can to protect yourself.

Ignorant!

davem4616 06-26-2020 06:59 AM

this was bound to happen....look at the uptick in cases in Lake and Marion County...that's were a lot of the folks that
work in TV live

be safe everyone

Jacob85 06-26-2020 07:00 AM

That is because when people start opening up things they think the virus is gone.

Lovey2 06-26-2020 07:02 AM

Thank you, Admin. That was about to get ugly, I'm sure. At least, that's where I was going.

Red Rose 06-26-2020 07:08 AM

We all know that the virus isn't going away any too soon. Safe practices have to be followed. I'd like to see all staff in TV to be required to wear masks no matter where they work. Patrons should wear masks to protect themselves and others also. It's the best way to help keep the virus under control.

Jacob85 06-26-2020 07:08 AM

The people who have died are 124,415 after only 4 months. There were 80,000 people who died from the flu all of last year! It is more contagious even from people with no symptoms and more lethal! With the flu people have a chance to get a vaccine and there is treatment. We may have some immunity to it but not to this virus as it is new! We don’t even know the long term effects and it can affect other organs and cause strokes and heart attacks. Most people who live here are in the high risk category as all over the age of 50 and most have some underlying condition.

WinnieHa 06-26-2020 07:10 AM

Wear your mask people!

The “You are Paranoid if you wear a Mask” club members are going to be the cause of everything shutting down again. It is not hard to wear a mask and take precautions. What is hard for some is the adult peer pressure to not wear a mask. This is not high school and this is NOT the flu. The flu has not required the whole world to shut down in order to maintain said mortality rate. And healthcare workers and other essentials cannot choose to stay home.

Kgcetm 06-26-2020 07:22 AM

There were one or two golf shop employees who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. The golf shop was closed on Wednesday afternoon with a sign posted "Closed for Deep Cleaning". A phone call to the shop on Thursday was first a denial that they had been closed, but realizing they had been caught the employee stated that any questions regarding COVID-19 had to be directed to Mr. David Williams at 352-504-2196. As of this morning, Mr. Williams has chosen not to respond to those questions.

Fred is not involved in this as it is a golf shop issue.

The Villages should be out in front of this situation and be advising people, through a variety of media, that if they were in the Bonifay golf shop during the 24 hours ending June 24 at 6 PM they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Their failure to do so is an injustice to all who live in the Villages. Let's see what they have to say.

And if you were in the Bonifay Golf Shop on June 24 and are diagnosed with COVID-19 over the next 10 days, this may be how you were infected. In addition, if you are infected, all of the people you have contact with may become infected.

Kgcetm 06-26-2020 07:25 AM

That's nonsense. It is much more lethal than the flu.

Accurate! Thank you!

TandHSTAR@AOL.com 06-26-2020 08:15 AM

Why are people depending on others to practice social distancing. Surely you know that sitting too close is not social distancing. Stop having others tell you how you should protect yourself.

davidkath 06-26-2020 08:18 AM

Don't tell others what to do! Stay home if you don't like it!

Waltdisney4life 06-26-2020 08:19 AM

Attack, attack the hate is all consuming, be wary of hateful people or become one of them.

Nipper 06-26-2020 08:36 AM

Someone told me that Rohan had closed because two workers have the virus. All sorts of rumors. I don't think we can expect any information from the newspaper or villages admin.

Mumbles 06-26-2020 08:43 AM

Not sure....

I'm not certain if the state of Florida is doing any tracing back. If it does, that would be excellent at finding real cases.

Dana1963 06-26-2020 08:58 AM

Brainwashed

Annually might have 17000 flu deaths where as Covid over 120,000 since March 1, really it’s like a common cold?

Covid 19 may not be any WORSE than getting polio or so-called Spanish Flu, but it certainly isn't any better.

IMHO
, the number of deaths from any "normal" flu during the incubation season of Winter, (which would occur from Sept or Oct. through April or May) that's 8 months at most... would average out to around 40,000 deaths in the USA.

Since around January 2020 till now, (which is the middle of the flu season in the US, and it's been 5 months), there have been at LEAST 122,000 deaths. That's about 3 X more. To say that THIS flu is very virulent is an understatement!

Safety is in the MASK, my forum friends.
