Cody’s by Mulberry Closing?
Cody’s on HW 42 by Mulberry Rec Center has been loading containers with what seems to be all of their interior furnishings which begs the question, are they closing this location, and are the others still slated to open in July?
|
Ate there once and would NEVER go back, it was THAT bad!
|
Brownwood was very dirty the last time we went. and they had a roach problem.
|
What was the problem with the roach? Just kidding. Every time I have been at Cody's, I felt like it was dirty. They really need to get rid of the peanut shells on the floor. Gross.
|
According to a recent article ... Cody's at Sumter & Brownwood went through cleaning & refurnishing while closed ... maybe Mulberry is doing the same now ... ???
|
We've dined at this establishment a couple of times....never my favorite. Service was spotty, yet it was always packed...never could figure that out...other than way too many tired people in TV that don't want to cook anymore and will settle for whatever
|
something about lipstick on a pig....
|
Doesn't it seem like 2/3rds of the restaurants & CC's in T.V. are owned by 2 or 3 "groups"?
|
They have great carrot cake but the food is so-so

Cody’s hit or miss
I went to Lake Sumpter Codies ate outside on the water and watched a storm come in. Had the best Salmon ever. A great experience.
I then went to Codies in Brownwood. The place was filthy, we were seated inside. It was loud I could hear myself think let alone have a conversation with my husband. Service a pretty slow but that may have been because I could t wait to get out of there. It is hard to believe the same franchise would be like night and day. I think the manager of brownwood had a house Fire so I don’t know it the restaurant is going to open under new management or not. |

I'm pretty sure the word you should have used was REtired people. But why do retired people have to want to cook, particularly if they can afford eating out? I've been to many restaurants in my life that were popular with others but didn't particularly suit me. But to those who enjoy them, great. |
from what we've seen during this past january & 4d last week, fine dining & villages restaurants' shouldn't be used in the same sentence,,, 1 place in lsl was decent however - chop house, is it ? anyway, that was last jan
we didn't get up there last week apologies is anyone thinks 'hijack thread' |
I thought I read in the paper they were closing for good. I agree with everyone, awful food.
|
Villages News said the owner said it was staying closed for now. The other two opening today, July 1. I will never go there again after it being shut down by health inspectors. Ore than once. Mulberry was terrible service, terrible food, terrible attitudes. I won’t give them any more of my money.
|
I love Chop House!!
|
It was reported that improvements were being done at all 3 stores before opening maybe thats it hopefully they don't close
|
Check out the sidewalk that leads out of a restaurant and notice how dirty it is compared to the rest of the sidewalk!!!!
|
Hope so..that rest.sure didnt hv its act together..cant wait to see what goes in next
|
Has the one at LSL been reopened?

I certainly hope not. It was always packed & had awesome entertainment.

Carrot Cake is either Cheney Bro’s or Sysco.

Let's hope they are closing, it would be a public service.

It’s time for some new restaurants to move into the Villages. The ones here have been here forever and most are owned by the same people so each restaurant is a various of the same. Not saying they are bad but sometimes new is good too.

TV and fine dining
Chop House is the one restaurant that can be called fine dining. Bonefish is
next. Just our opinion from trying those available. We had heard that the re-do of Lopez restaurant was great, but after two tries there we have definitely removed it from any future plans. It "pretends" to be upscale, but totally falls flat. Appearance is an attempt at "big city" sophistication, but staff, attitude and menu are sorely lacking. Hopefully it will improve as it settles in. |
Never liked my salad in a big steel bow wit no choice of dressing.
|
Some people are happy, some are not. Same as it always is with the Human population....

agree, that also means higher prices. Prices in ads are no bargain.

Codys
I hope if they open up at Mulberry the food needs to be better and also the staff
My husband and I have ate there a few times and it was always a disaster, so we quit going |
Cody’s in Lake Sumter is opening today.

Cody’s Mullbery was a disappointment from the first day.
Very poor management. Never seen such bad service in a restaurant anywhere. The food went from spotty to terrible. The menu was not appealing. The restaurant concept is way too stale. Fourth years ago old road signs and other junk hanging all over the walls was interesting today it’s “oh God not this again” . Their outside loud music concept was really a flop. Outside venues work out when there is something nice to see. Something like a lake or a view of square. The view of the back of a parking lot stinks. Besides this is The Villages, not a place for loud pop music. This Cody’s was like a junk yard company bought up a group of restaurants. |
$2 (now $3) bar burgers and cheap beer. I could never stomach the peanuts (even before Covid). Everyone had their hands in the buckets...ewwwww.
|
Mulberry closed for good. Sumter and Brownwood open today. No peanuts on floors any more. Give you a little paper bag of nuts if you want. Cleaned thoroughly and saw some changes. You be the judge.
