YouTube TV RUT ROH!

When CWGUY helped me jump on the Streaming Bandwagon it was $35 a month. Then up to $40 a month, Then $50 and now $64.95. The great thing is they added on channels we don't need and said they will be compiling information over the next month about customer feedback and then may make a decision to adjust the price.

It isn't like we didn't know this was going to happen. NOTHING this good lasts forever. $15 isn't gonna kill me at all it's the idea of the price creep and where and when will it stop.

Someone mentioned a while back that they would rather pay for the convenience of Direct TV. Maybe they were correct. We shall see.

:boom::boom: Thanks for NOTHING You Tube TV! You didn't make my day! :boom::boom: :boxing2:

Get Amazon Prime and Netflix, about $20 per month. You can add other streaming services like HBO Cinemax Showtime etc for 8-10 per month.

Name it we've got it. The alternative is Sling. I have it already but Monkey see Monkey do. If the increase works for these guys then everybody is gonna do it.

Comcast is sending one free unit to stream it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Additional units from Comcast are $5 a month. Back to renting again, NOPE.

Mleeja 06-30-2020 07:15 PM

I considered dumping Comcast for YouTube TV, but Comcast met the price. YouTube was $50.00 per month then. I’ve locked in the Comcast pricing for two years. Looks like I might have saved a few bucks.

GJohn 06-30-2020 08:37 PM

Just saw the price increase while watching youtubeTV. Been with it since it started but cancelled my subscription today. That 3rd increase for a couple lousy channels did it for me!

dewilson58 07-01-2020 05:50 AM

Saw the increase as well.............not liking, but I have not seen anything comparable at a better price.

Madelaine Amee 07-01-2020 05:58 AM

For us, the increase is only $14.00 which we could easily afford, but I don't want to afford it. I do not want the new channels, for that matter I don't want most of the channels offered. Time to look at what is available.

Going to take a close look at Peacock offered by Comcast, plus Hulu offers almost the same channels as YouTubeTV. Plenty of other streaming channels available, but what a pain in the neck!

Any other suggestions from TOTV streamers welcome.

There are ever changing deals enough to make you crazy . So I just stay with direct tv , mostly because of my NFL ticket but some just because I don’t feel like chasing the next deal , There was a time when I was always looking for cable deal , then I realized I was complaining about a cable bill but still shopping at Armani and Hugo Boss , $5 raise in cable, spending $100 on a T-shirt, had to laugh makes you wonder how the human brain work sometimes

Bob3302 07-01-2020 09:52 AM

As of today I am looking for a replacement fit YouTube TV I am researching HuLu, Sling, fobo. Please let us know what others find as a cheaper option. Locals and cloud DVR are important to us.

I hear ya! I cancelled Y.T.TV today. $30 increase in under 2 years, no thanks.

Our kids are gonna be upset cause they have been mooching off our account for the entire time.

Sling is OK but it's true that there is NOTHING as good as Y.T.TV.

The lady I cancelled with was a doll and said they were going to shut down the customer service line for the rest of the day because they were bleeding customers. I wished her well at her next job. You can still cancel online somehow.

So I cancelled today but still have them until July 24th because they don't prorate cancellations.

Let's see what tomorrows Comcast delivery of their streaming device brings. :boxing2: I'll keep you posted. :blahblahblah:

Just remembered that I had Philo for a test drive in the beginning and it was great.

Comcast is providing a steaming device? How much will it cost? I have been streaming Comcast using Roku boxes for over a year. The catch is you must have one Comcast box. The main box is on the living room TV and I use the Roku devices in the bedrooms and kitchen. Saving $21.00 month not needing the additional boxes from Comcast I have paid for my Roku devices. An additional plus is I have HD and On Demand on all TVs

Madelaine Amee 07-01-2020 08:35 PM

Is any one using Hulu? Was more expensive than YouTube, but may be cheaper now. Also need to look into Peacock, owned by Comcast. New, really new, not even up and running yet, sounds too good to be true.

When I went from the Starter Package to the next step up speed wise they offered one Roku like unit for FREE. I accepted and it should be here tomorrow. Since I haven't seen it yet I have no details yet but will report back as I learn more.

The only bad thing so far is that I hate putting my eggs in the Comcast Basket. They are better so far but for me, they are only on parole they haven't been fully cleared yet for the sins of the past. :ohdear:

janewk 07-02-2020 05:38 AM

Good luck on that one. We did the same thing. Locked in a price of 149.xx for 2 years. All of a sudden the third bill I got was just shy of $200.00 I'm SO done with comcrap.

Nucky 07-19-2020 07:17 PM

THE PEACOCK from Comcast is very nice I must admit but it is missing so much Nessesary Television and there is no way to record that I can cipher. The remote is excellent on the Peacock.

We have had Sling since the day after YouTube TV announced the price increase and even though it has the channels we need it can't walk in the shadow of YTTV.
Only 10 hours of recording on Sling and advancing or reversing the shows is a mission and impossible on some shows. Good Bye Slingaroonie!

The bottom line is I'm going to pay for YTTV because there is NOTHING as good and they know it. Damn, I hate to lose. Can't win every time.

Let us know if some better solution becomes available, please.

retiredguy123 07-19-2020 07:47 PM

Peacock Premium is now a free streaming service if you have Xfinity cable TV. Also, there are a lot of streaming apps that are delivered through the Xfinity cable box, such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Pandora, Radio.com, and many others. You still have to pay a subscription fee for some of the apps, but, if you lose your internet connection or wifi, you can still access the apps through the cable box. Also, I like being able to pay for Netfilx on my Xfinity bill because you don't need to give Netflix a credit card number for automatic billing. I hate automatic billing.

Just curious, if you locked in $149 for 2 yrs, how did the 3rd bill go that high? Are you able to cancel without penalty?

mtdjed 07-19-2020 09:09 PM

I just moved my internet from Century link to Comcast. Already had a package for TV with Comcast called a starter package with 140 channels. Price was about $76/Month , but bill was $117 when they add broadcast TV Fee, Sports Channel Fee, and extra TV adapters @$7 or $8 plus taxes. New bill is to be $135 (Supposedly including fees and taxes/ So I was promised/ Yet to see).

So now have 140 channel TV and 200 MBPS internet for hopefully $135 on a two year package. Was told that if I changed my coverage , there would be no penalty if I maintained some Xfinity service. My guess is that I might be able to reduce this bill to $120 if I could stream and eliminate a now $5 charge per adapter. But that is in a perfect world. My experience is that I live elsewhere.

We, also, decided to stay with YTTV because they really are the best for NOW. The reason we switched to streaming was no matter how much you paid you still could not find decent programs on cable, and right now on streaming we have so much to watch it is mind boggling.

I am hopeful that Jeff Bezos (Amazon) will come up with competition for YTTV. His Prime is excellent.

YouTubeTV and HBO

I need some clarification and cannot seem ro find it. With the increase in YouTubeTV there is mention of HBO, is HBO now included with YouTubeTV or is it available for an additional cost.

Also, need a good weather channel and I will not pay $50 a month for the real Weather Channel, any suggestions please.

Go to the website "www.suppose.tv". You can select any channels you want on the left side of the screen, and you will see all the streaming services that will provide those channels. It is an excellent website. It looks like you can get The Weather Channel on "Frndly Basic" for $5.99 per month as well as several other channels. I don't think YouTube TV has HBO as a free channel on their lineup.

Thank you, great information.

YouTube TV Adding 14 New Channels From Viacom CBS. BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, VH1, BET Her, MTV2, Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, and MTV Classic. From Google. I could live without all of them, no problem. Especially two of them.

Any changes to YouTube TV is a Mission to complete. If you can't figure it out I will try to come up with the answer. Good Luck.

I pay 6.50 for Hulu and 17 for Netflix, I have more channels than I will ever be able to watch. All 3 of my TV sets run on fire sticks.
CNN FOX CBS NBC I get them all plus many more. If your stick isn’t jail broke then your missing a lot of great free movies.

Scooby Doo Saying "Ruh Roh" - YouTube OR George Jetson Pill Overdose! - YouTube

I had Comcast and one of the best days of my life was dropping them (dropping AT&T was the other).

I researched Hulu, Amazon, Sling, etc, but I changed to YouTubeTV since it was the ONLY ONE that had all major over-the-air channels (ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox). I wrote a nasty note to them about their price increase, but I don't see a good alternative.

$14 over $50 is a 28% increase. $14 per month for a year is $168 - that's a lot of money for people who are on a limited budget and choosing to cut the cord because it's more affordable.

We're looking into Pluto, or Sling (orange and blue combined?). We have Youtube TV on the roku and I can access it on my computer, but I also have Peacock TV on my computer and haven't actually tried using it yet.

I'm -very- wary of putting faith into Comcast for anything more than basic internet service.

We tried Sling as a rider on our sons account and although it mostly did the job Forwarding, Reversing & Clouding are limited and it was uncomfortable to use. Not user friendly for us.

Peacock for us is a disappointment except the remote is a thousand times better than ROKU'S. The content is limited. The first Peacock box from Comcast is free. If you like it then the other ones you order would be at $5 each per month. I'm trying to not rent anymore equipment.

OBB: Agree, my original post, on which you comment, was not well put on my behalf. The reason why the increase is doable for us is that we were close to $300 per month when we were on cable which is why I really had to get into streaming. I am certainly not happy paying more for YTTV especially when I don't want the additional channels. But, until something better comes along I am stuck with it.

I have looked at HULU which has the Weather Channel and I would really like that built in, but my other half had a difficult time understanding streaming and YTTV and he really does not want to strt all over with a new site.

We currently have YTTV, Prime (which I think is fantastic and will only get better because Jeff B is going to own the world before he is done), and we buy Acorn. For Freebees I watch YouTube which I think is excellent, if you cannot find it on YT it does not exist! Occasionally I watch AlJazeera for world news, I like to know what is going on in the world, not just in our little corner of it.

JohnN 07-25-2020 06:16 PM

Because someone had asked, HBO is Not part of Hulu nor YouTube. It's an add-on.
