Seattle mayor slams protesters for showing no 'regard for' her 'safety'

Seattle mayor slams protesters for showing no 'regard for' her 'safety' as demonstrators circle her home.

A group of protesters marched to the home of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Sunday afternoon, upset that she pledged to dismantle the police-free "Capitol Hill Organized Protest" zone, known as CHOP.

Demonstrators have controlled the six-block area since June 8, saying they will not leave until the city meets a list of demands.

Defunding the local police department by at least 50% is at the top of their list. Over the last several days, multiple instances of shootings, rape, and robbery have been reported inside or near CHOP, local police said.

Where is her concern about the safety of the people living in CHOP? She really doesn't care about them. Different story when it's your doorstep rather than someone else's.

Gulfcoast 07-01-2020 06:05 PM

Sounds like they've found a new site for CHOP.

What goes around comes around. I love it...that and when the "protests" went to Beverly Hills...... that there was very little coverage of.:ohdear:

Regarding the Mayor; “You can’t fix Stupid”

GoodLife 07-01-2020 07:49 PM

Breaking: Seattle Police have cleared the zone in less than an hour.

Meanwhile, several multi million dollar lawsuits have been filed by residents and business in the zone for all the disruption. Guess who pays if city looses?

Steve9930 07-01-2020 08:59 PM

So she doesn't like the party any more?

No. It took them 23 days.

mamamia54 07-01-2020 09:25 PM

Maybe she is getting tired of her “love fest, block party”. I’m sure if I looked up the meaning of love I wouldn’t see the words rape, murder, etc. All of this has to stop now, it’s getting ridiculous to even entertain these idiots.

stadry 07-02-2020 05:13 AM

what comes around, goes around................. when will they learn.......... ?
remember r. lee ermey's response to parkland hs's david hogg's declaration ' we're starting a revolution ! ' ? ' revolution ? you can't even start a lawnmower yet ! '

Look to the mainstream mercenary media. Disruption and misinformation is their game and we are willing participants.

That would be great.

MandoMan 07-02-2020 05:55 AM

Clarification: If I read the story you posted correctly, the mayor wasn’t actually at her house. The city councilwoman who was active in the march may not have known that. The mayor and her family had been moved to a secret site for their own safety.

That's what happens when you support lawlessness and not your own communities that put you in office.

rjn5656 07-02-2020 06:21 AM

Seattle

Maybe the good citizens of Seattle should protest at the Mayors house and demand she do her job.

lwmilo 07-02-2020 06:29 AM

Oh no, not in my back yard.

Your right Karma is a bit... she deserves everything that is happening to her. Now the wonderful blues have to protect her. I would take my time getting to her mansion

Mmmm . . . Maybe we should rescind their immunity from prosecution. Let’s hold the mayors and governors of these states responsible for egregious conduct.

Like all Socialists

Tom2172 07-02-2020 07:35 AM

What a country socialist mayor of Seattle
Complains when the hate mobs she supports
Comes to her $7 million dollar home!
Who says socialism doesn’t pay for the
Politicians in charge.

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 07-02-2020 07:38 AM

Isn't this the woman who said that she would not used the police or violence to resolve the issue with CHOP? She was going to negotiate with them to get them to leave.

What happened to that?

Bay Kid 07-02-2020 07:40 AM

Such a shame. You sometimes get what you deserve.

Bigal1463 07-02-2020 07:46 AM

It couldn’t happen to a nicer person.

Kgcetm 07-02-2020 07:47 AM

Has to be one of the dumbest public officials of the first half of the year 2020. What could she have possibly have been thinking or which drug could she possible have been taking to allow the city of Seattle to suffer through such criminal indignity. The only consolation here is that the coffee sippers who elected her got exactly what they deserved.

Two Bills 07-02-2020 07:51 AM

.........."But!"
All those unwashed people came into our lovely neighborhood!

davem4616 07-02-2020 08:00 AM

Hollywood couldn't have written a better script for this

billethkid 07-02-2020 08:06 AM

The police chief and the silent majority (coffee sippers?) took far too long to respond.

Maybe there is a lesson for others to be learned.
When the order was finally given to the police to remove the protestors and their fake established encampment, it was done nearly over night......including taking back the abandoned police station......

An example of what should have been done day one.

Andyhope 07-02-2020 08:13 AM

I hope they have to raise taxes to pay for the judgements that will be levied against them. Maybe the citizenry will reconsider voting for cretins to public office.

Scorpyo 07-02-2020 08:31 AM

I googled this incident but I couldn't find any information or pictures on whether or how protesters were prevented from damaging or entering her house. I would assume there might have been security guarding her house. If there was, were they armed? If they were then shame on them. Didn't we learn from St Louis that guarding your home, yourself and your spouse with weapons is a no-no and any person doing so should be arrested for a criminal offense.

Don't you wish it worked that way? Just wait and see how many of these mayors and governors have the gall to ask for federal money to clean up the messes they allowed to occur under their watch.

Call a social worker.

Marty94 07-02-2020 09:46 AM

What Comes Around

This reminds me of a politician who had embezzled millions of dollars from the NYS Teachers Retirement Fund. Clinton pardoned him and he never made restitution. When he purchased a large farm in a rural town in upstate NY, thinking no one would know him, he asked the town supervisor who he should call if there was an emergency during winter storms. The supervisor told him to call the fire department. Problem with his gas or water? The fire department. Lightning strike? The fire department. First aid? The fire department. The funny thing is the fire department is all voluntary. Do you want to guess who makes up the fire department and emergency squad? You guessed it: teachers.

Stu from NYC 07-02-2020 09:55 AM

So thinking that setting up a campaign fund for the mayor will not go over very well here:bigbow:

Too bad there is no 911 in a CHOP zone. Maybe she could try calling city hall to issue a complaint. I'm sure they'll get back to her within 5 business days.

I think I’ve heard some people in the govt. say what she’s doing was a great idea! Not sure, so why is she so worried?
