Bold anti-racism move
Per today's Daily Sun, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has quit using Woodrow Wilson's desk.
Kudos to you, Phil. It's bold moves like yours that are going to stop global racism in its tracks. |
Brings pandering to a whole new level

If he really does stop using that desk I’d be shocked if global racism isn’t over by the end of the week.

I am no longer eating black licorice only red

I'm waiting for the end of the Jefferson-Jackson annual celebration by a certain political persuasion. After all, isn't it only fair that if you talk the talk, you walk the walk? I'm not holding my breath.

Sorry they were not perfect but were a product of their times and think they did very well for later generations. There statues should stay where they were and be honored. If you do not like the man feel free to walk around the statue and ignore it. |

I’ll take the desk.

Does somebody need a pacifier? Offended by a desk.
|
I agree. If he stops using the desk, racism will be over by Friday

Wow! A voice of reason.....kudos

Easy to understand how it looks to use the desk of an avowed racist ... and I wonder also how we can remember the good things that the man did as well. Hard to see balance in so many aspects of today's society.

How many names on the Declaration of Independence are going to be stricken because they were slave holders or committed some other sort of PC transgression?
If it were a bold move he would have done it before it became fashionable. Now he's just following the crowd., |

Completely agree.

it's not about the desk
Woodrow Wilson deserves all the opprobrium being heaped on him. Far from being a great president, he was an unabashed racist who re-segregated the U.S. civil service and thought the wrong side had won the civil war. Both his writings and contemporary reporting verify that.
I think it's inappropriate to judge a historical figure by today's standards "Washington and Jefferson owned slaves, so all the great things they did must be erased." It is quite another to judge a historical figure by standards existing when the person was alive, and by that measure Wilson fails. |
I don't think a lot of people on this thread really "get it". The times they are a changing and it's about time! Little things mean a lot.

Your post is satire ?

I would think that those who applaud Gov. Murphy's "bold" move would wish to re-locate to the state of New Jersey where they could live in peace and harmony under the leadership of such a benevolent lockdown despot. It seems to me to be hypocritical to sacrifice principle for just a few rays of sunshine.

Yep, that should do it! What a brave thing to do.....that desk never knew what hit it.
|
I graduated from Wilson high school. Yknow, readin, writin, racism.
