quartz countertops and new cabinets contractors
has anyone used either burns woodworking in summerfield or bailey design studio in leesburg for either project --have not seen any reviews on them on talk of the villages -thanks
|
I would suggest you read the detailed reviews on Yelp and the complaint on BBB regarding Burns Woodworking. There are two customers who seem to have not been treated well by that company. It would concern me about hiring them. Also, one of the reviewers paid for half of the project in advance, which is something I would never do.

Bailey just put in a bathroom vanity for me last week. Beautiful job. Would recommend.

Just be aware quartz is not as forgiving as granite. You can’t put anything hot on it like you can with granite. Good luck, sounds like fun!

We have had Granite and quartz, we much prefer Quartz. Grante is a natural stone and subject to staining.

Hud a quote from Bailey for countertops and was very expensive. Gingrich Interiors is well regarded. Ultimate Granite the Villages has good prices. HD and Lowes are good too

I used Burns Woodworking redo my kitchen 1 year ago. They did a great job with the quarts, I chose Cambria quartz and love it. Have a large composite white sink with large faucet which his great too. Couldn’t be happier with the quartz and sink. Also chose backsplash purchased from Burns, installer did a terrific job. The plumber was a problem however. Not an hour after he left, there was a leak under the sink. He did not twist the connector between 2 PVC pipes tightly, so there was a joint leak. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Purchased a new package of dishwasher pods. Upon placing them under the sink, noticed a small amount of water under the sink. Dove’s plumbing came out to assess it. Turns out the incompetent plumber from Burns only put 1bolt (should have been 4) in the disposal where it connects to the ring under the sink. Furthermore, he did not twist the disposal rings to lock in place. For the entire year, it was like that, but not being handy, I didn’t know. Luckily, it finally started to drip slowly. Had Dove’s replace the disposal as it was almost 5 years old. Cannot imagine the damage had I not noticed it. Another issue. Had them paint my brown cabinets white. They did a terrific job on the doors as they took them to the shop for sanding and spraying, but on the frames, not so much. Should have been sprayed in my opinion, but was rolled. The whole job was seamless until the painting. It was like the tower of babble getting the painting done. In retrospect. Would use Burns for the Quartz and sink, but get my own plumber to install the faucet and disposal. Their prices were better than most for the Cambria. Let me know if you have any questions, would be happy to help.

We had Burns put in quartz countertops in kitchen, master bath & hall bath, torn out the microwave that was above the stove and install a range hood and removed tile prepared the surface for new tile (backsplash). The quality of work was good. The tile guy was excellent, Richard who prepared tile surface & installed range hood was excellent, the countertop guys were slow however the quality of work was good. The support staff at the office was horrible.

Quartz
My pure white quartz was damaged while the house was being built and it was replaced on warranty (something was placed on it that made a dull mark). The replacement was damaged while being delivered (again dull marks from the tie downs on the truck). Then I damaged it a third time with a cleanser, but I did not claim in under the home warranty because it was my fault, not the builders. Once I passed my one year warranty period I replaced my quartz counter top with quartzite (which is the natural stone that quartz is made from). It's an amazing counter top, although more expensive than quartz or granite. My problem could have been that my quartz was pure white which showed every imperfection, but after that experience I'll never have quartz. However, some people have had no problems with their quartz and love the product.

Friends in The Villages are still waiting for installation of their cabinets which they ordered and put half payment of thousands of dollars three months ago. Very little communication from Burns as to why the delay.

The sister of the owner is a real piece of work, we wanted to do business with them but after the way she treated us we decided to go to ultimate granite and were glad we did.

I used Baileys to design and install a wine bar area for me in my kitchen--4 upper cabinets 2 lower a wine refrigerator and countertop. The designer was wonderful to work with. Listened to what I wanted and came up with creative ideas that he would email me in precision drawings and I could tweek. Went to the studio to select cabinet color hardware and countertop. They have soooo many selections. It was a beautiful studio.Installation was fairly quick and totally professional. No glitches at all. They contracted Liquid Lights to do the cabinet lighting. They are a fantastic Co so that went well and had them do other lighting for us. I felt Bailey's price was very fair. I had 4 other estimates and none of the others was willing to work with design. They had limited selection-- I wanted black cabinets and 3 did not offer them and most has no creative design ideas and wanted to do it their way very cookie cutter and not what I really needed or wanted. I was 100% pleased with Bailey's and I am pretty fussy when spending that kind of money.

I used Burns and as part of the reno they replaced electrical outlets but they did not work properly. Had to hire an electrical company to correct it. Cabinet painting was good. Some of the granite seams did not line up right. Several ceramic tiles had to be replaced.

We had great luck with Burns woodworking for a couple of our homes here!

Bailey’s does all the cabinets in the new homes for the villages. I’ve used Wildwood kitchen and baths for many projects in several of my homes. Great job

Let me start with the positive---in the end Bailey Design corrected all work defects to our satisfaction. To accomplish this we had to involve the VP of Operations at corporate as we were getting nowhere with the local office and our project manager (who is no longer employed at Bailey). The bad news-----we had to point out every defect in their workmanship which included, cracked floor and shower tiles, used the garage which stored our belongings to cut tile which left a thick layer of tile dust everywhere, under mount sinks installed crooked, ran the air conditioner in the house while sanding wallboard requiring a complete duct work cleaning, exposed nails under lower cabinet trim (found by cutting my finger), scratched new cabinets, miss-measure of cabinet in kitchen, etc. There is more but I think you get the point. Again, after getting the VP of Operations involved all defects were taken care of. Unfortunately we were not living in the house at the time and had faith that the project manager would monitor the subs workmanship which was part of their commitment to us. That did not happen. Needless to say it was a very frustrating experience. I would not retain Bailey for any future remodel work. |

Yes, I have taken a hot cast iron skillet off the stove and put it right on a marble countertop without any problems, and I wouldn't do that with quartz; but it wouldn't be hard to have a trivet handy instead. With marble, I was a slave to it, constantly watching that no one dripped anything acidic like lemon juice or wine on it as it will etch. Quartz you can clean with anything and not worry about overspray from whatever you clean you cabinet fronts with (409). I love quartz! |
Quartz recommendation
We recently had quartz countertops installed in our kitchen and both bathrooms by Stone Rise Granite and Quartz on SR44, Wildwood and are extremely satisfied. The beauty of quartz is eye catching and maintenance free, (no sealing). Stratton & Hanna Fergus are a great team that want their customers satisfied. Installers did a great job. Another thing important to me was their selection of American Made quartz offered. I was able to sit in an air conditioned showroom to look at the different colors, with Hanna which was great. I was able to take home several samples with me to see which of my selections worked best in my home. We chose a quartz from company called Cambria which we used in our former home. It is a worry free quartz.
I would definitely recommend them without hesitation |
Pure white and love it

I have done business with Bailey. Although they did make their mistakes right it was a bit of a nightmare. I did not buy appliances from them, I bought them though Aggressive in Orlando. I actually have never been in the Aggressive store. They have a local sales person in TV and he has been a pleasure to work with. I bought my All white quartz counter tops from Granite Solutions in Leesburg and I love them. I don't hesitate to put a hot pot on them but I don't leave it sitting so I am not sure if it would have an effect. I also tend to wipe up dark spills but I have never had a problem scrubbing them and getting them sparkling clean. My biggest problem with Bailey was the salesperson they assigned me to. She really had no experience and ended up leaving in the middle of my project. I would have a hard time recommending them but they did do their best to make things right and I went with them because TV used them to do my kitchen and I was just looking to make some changes and wanted to stay with the same cabinets.

Used Burns for a major refurb in our home - I would not use them again.

We used Baily Design for an extension of cabinets into our eating area. Liz Taylor the sales and designer that came to our house was great with the design. More than we could have expected. They matched the new cabinetry to the existing, added crown molding and a push out glass doored upper cabinet that is beautiful. Baily was the original cabinet installer for The Villages up in the north end of The Villages. We have nothing but praise for this company.

Burns did my quartz countertops in December of 2015. You can come see them if you want to. Cynthia Ruiz 845-706-3955

I have had both granite and quartz, like both. It is a matter of preference.
We had quartz installed by Solid Image of Leesburg, excellent work. |
I would not use either company.
