Village Airport Shuttle aka Workman Transportation Shutting Down
Posted on their website, suspending all airport shuttles indefinitely effective August 1st.
|
Wow. They must really be hurting.
|
Hopefully when things return to normal they can reopen
|
Sad to hear this, we always used Workman...but these are desperate times for many businesses
It's a true leader that has the courage to make the tough decisions when they need to be made Hopefully they will return |

Workman Transportation will suspend airport shuttle operations beginning August 1, 2020, until further notice. This is the service from/to Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter and Brownwood. Workman Transportation | The business known as Village Airport Van remains in operation. This is the service from/to your home. Village Airport Van - Airport Shuttle/Transportation for The Villages |
Lots of private drivers are still out there and booking trips all the time.

That is what happens. They made the decision to structure their business to the size of the market. The market for this service to the airport has collapsed. Who wants to put themselves at risk in the closed bus with strangers to take a flight in a crowed plane to go to a place to be quarantined and the return under similar conditioned?

Since we are talking about transportation to and from the Orlando airport, has anyone used Groome airport shuttle service? I see they are less expensive. Good/bad?

They still owe me money from March. They gave me a credit instead of a refund. Guess I wont be seeing that soon

It’s understandable that they are suspending service. I recently used Workman’s after a trip to New England, I was the only passenger on board a 6 passenger Dodge van. I believe I paid $30 for the trip from OIA/MCO, I can’t see how they continue to operate with one passenger and a $30 trip. I did use a private car when I was transported to the airport about a month before so there is private car service available.

I have a problem with getting picked up at 6 AM to make an 11 o'clock flight. The shuttle service costs $40 per person. For $100 one-way, I rent a car and leave when I want to. I leave a bit after 8 and get to the airport in plenty of time. OK, I have to pay the tolls and about $5 in gas but it is worth it for the flexibility. When I return, I rent the car and can stop off to eat. Also, I don't have to wait an extra 30-45 minutes while the driver goes all over The Villages dropping people off.

Where can I find private drivers to and back from the airport and what do they charge each way? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I used Groome from Cheyenne, WY to Denver Airport. I was pleased and would use them again. |

We tried to book Groome once to go to MCO, hubby had to fly back to work, and he insisted we try this new transportation in TV. I called a taxi driver I knew to ask if there was a problem would they take us? Well at the appointed time Groome did not show up. When I called them they said they had no record of my booking although they had already charged my credit card a couple of days before. So glad I had a back up plan! After 2 months Groome refunded my credit card.

Groome Transport is also shut down....reopening August 26th.

Just a thought, not a lawyer.. If you hire a private driver to take you to the airport and you are injured in an accident it seems likely that the driver's insurance company would refuse to cover your injury unless they bought commercial insurance. Companies like Uber provide their drivers with coverage while they have a passenger as they recognize that the driver's personal coverage is not enough.
If anyone reading this provides ride for hire service to MCO I'd be interested in their knowledge about this concern. |
Does Uber operate here? Wonder what they would charge to airport.
