Daytona Beach safe?
We are thinking of a day trip, on a weekday , to Daytona Beach for some beach time. Plan would include taking our own lunch and just enjoying the beach and ocean. Has anyone experienced crowd level in the last week? Did you feel safe? Appreciate input. Thanks and stay safe, friends.

Perfectly safe activity. Vitamin D is good
|
Beaches are less crowded on weekdays, and people are doing a good job of keeping distance from others even on the weekends. I spent a week on New Smyrna Beach earlier this month without a problem.
|
New Smyrna Beach and National Seashore park just south is another option especially if looking for fewer people.

been there, nice at low tide....you just don't want to go for a long swim to the east cuz, when we're in the ocean we give up our apex predator status to quite a few others |

If you have a 4WD go to Ormond Beach. You can drive right on the beach. $20 though.

We just went last week on Weds. There are sections that do not have very many people. Ponce Inlet and Daytona Beach Shores. Enjoy the beautiful Ocean and stay away from the crowds.
|
We were there for a week recently - Daytona Beach Shores (South D.B.). Found less people on weekdays & all were displaying social distancing. Flagler Beach also had less people. Enjoy
|
Frankly during the week, the best beach is a little further north, Flagler, not as traveled as the others and even great places to eat with outdoor dining and not crowded.
|
Ormond Beach
Nicer public park 2mi north of Daytona at Ormond Beach, opposite Bonefish Grill and other restaurants, one with a roof top deck. Free parking, less driving on beach.
Miniature golf up the road. Less high rise hotels. Popular spot, busy but safe. |
Go to Ormond beach right next door. Much safer and less crowded. We go during the week as well.
|
Perfectly safe. We go every couple of weeks. Went all thru the pandemic. Less crowded on weekdays, but even weekends are fine. We just go to take a long walk on the beach. But even if you. Are sitting the distancing is fine.

Our concern is what if you develop car trouble either way?

Daytona Beach Shores
We live at Daytona Beach Shores in our condo five months a year and are there now. The beach is beautiful, warm, and people space their chairs with great social distance. You can come to the beach in Daytona Beach Shores, you can park on the beach itself, you can go for a nice lunch either at the North Turn Restaurant or Crabby Joes, both directly on the beach. Or you can go down to Ponce Inlet and eat at a variety of places. It is quiet and lovely and non commercial. And safe as long as you distance.
