Hacienda Hills Demolition
What are your thoughts on this demolition of the Hacienda Hills restaurant and pool area? Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen to this property?

I read somewhere that Theatre del Sol was using The Sharon as a venue for live performances because it allowed for better social distancing seating. Wasn't the Hacienda where Theatre del Sol been performing?

A 10 story apartment complex!

Along with other threads about the demo, pretty sure no one one this site has a clue what will be built there. But speculation does take up ones time.
|
Much as your reply seems to be in jest, I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of apartment or condominium living facility built since that seems to be in demand.

Not speculation. Sooner or later you’ll be right.
Where have I heard that before? |
Here's an answer...maybe
When I recently renewed my priority membership I noticed Hacienda tennis courts and pool were still listed as perks. So I called tennis administration to ask about it. The tennis manager told me a new pro shop and new restaurant would be built but the tennis courts were gone forever. I asked how he knew that? He said during the shut down early last spring he tried to get the tennis courts resurfaced and that's what they told him them. So I'm taking that as a mostly substantiated rumor.

Hacienda Hills Demolition
This is another Katie-Belle's disaster. Seems the developers only concerns lie south of Route 44.

I guess I just don't see the upside in them keeping certain news and plans so secretive. Even Don apparently had a bit of fuss with them about his construction flyover videos. |

Go to the building department and that should be public knowledge

Could be nothing is planned for the site until there is a money making idea.
|
This is what concerns me. As pools age in The Villages. Is this going to happen to all of them. Remember these pools were paid for from the bonds people paid. Once the bonds have been paid off were does the money come from to replace them. It seems that the only thing to replace them with is with something that generates revenue. Hope I’m wrong.

I don't know, because I don't worry about such things, my guess that the budgets include monies set aside to repair/replace a pool or other assets that require attention. We have been told many times on this site that one can attend budget preparation meetings to see actually what is in the budgets. Eliminates speculation...... |
It saddens my heart to see this being torn down. I spent 9 years as a pool ambassador at that pool up to 2 weeks ago when the fence was erected. Hoping they will build something just as beautiful as what they have demolished

Better than being sold to the residents!

Plans should be filed with the town, permits etc. should be there. Go to town hall and ask. It’s public information.

Oh Bogie. I hope that was within the framework of what we are allowed to say. |
Maybe people should stop thrashing valid opinions.
The future of TV is South of 44. Admit it. Bigger homes, more amenities. Northern parts of TV will be like Orange Blossom one day....old houses ready for the wrecking ball. |

Good Riddance
Am personally glad to see if finally being torn down so something new, different, better can replace it. The building was probably mold infested (you could smell it when you were checking in for golf in the pro shop) and the restaurant had had numerous health violations and had been shut down at least once because of it. Yes, in its hey day it was beautiful and a place of good times. But through the years it had become tired and in dire need of more than a face-lift. It has been stated that a new pro-shop will be part of the rebuild (which you have to believe because the developer is on record as keeping the golf course and would need a pro-shop to run the course) and there will likely be other amenities associated with a new facility. Hopefully, if successful, this can be a model for what will happen to other existing facilities when they age and outlive their original luster -- that they will be addressed and replaced as appropriate. Onward!
