Covid 19 Survives Freezing temperatures?
If this article is accurate and the virus doesn't die in freezing temps. Pray a vaccine is discovered soon.
Coronavirus found on frozen seafood in China |
Say it ain't so. That's definitely not a good thing and more than a little concerning.

As viruses are not really alive you shouldn't be surprised that they are not inactivated by freezing. In fact viral samples are often frozen for storage. Live viral vaccines such as the MMR, ChickenPox, and oral Polio are all shipped frozen and must be stored at the doctor's office in a medical freezer to preserve their infectivity. RNA viruses are often stored at minus 80 Celsius. [-112 F]

Virus’ are very resilient and change we may develop virals to help slow the spread HIV is still around it is not over yet.

Another reason why I still wash/disinfect anything and everything that comes in the house. Hubby continues to be just as vulnerable as before.

Wash your hands after shopping. Wash packages too if you want. |

Problem about washing hands, can’t guarantee that we will always remember to wash after touching something, getting blueberries out of fridge etc.
As far as CDC ... there is a small chance... I’m trying to bring the probability closer to zero. It’s not much problem to disinfect and now it’s a habit. |

The virus is covered with a fatty envelope that allows it to attach to surfaces. The“Soap molecules can pry themselves into the fatty layer of this particular virus and break it up, thus inactivating the virus.” for more specifics, see:Coronavirus: Why soap works better than hand sanitizer - UCHealth Today |

You worry about surface contamination and walk around with no mask. You question hand sanitizer and you walk around with no mask. REALLY!!!!

Th alcohol denatures (destroys) the virus chemically.

Virus’s go into a Huber nation stage just like honey it can last and be edible after hundreds of years.

Quit waiting on a vaccine and petition our government to release the 63 million doses of hydroxochloroquine. This drug (much maligned by so called researchers and those beholden to big Pharma and Bill Gates) has been proven effective by doctors all over the country, especially for prevention and early onset treatment. Available over the counter around the world but forbidden in the U.S.A. Go figure.

I am neither a doctor nor a scientist so I’ll relate what I’ve heard in layman’s terms. I’ve heard that infectious things like viruses can last inactively in frozen ice indefinitely. Yes, thousands of years or longer. When defrosted they can become active. That is why some are concerned about glaciers melting. They don’t know what they may contain from long ago. Others are concerned about what we may release from places like the rain forest as we continue to move deeper into it. The fact is, although we think we’re hot stuff, we’re just another species on this earth and there probably is stuff we cannot even see that’s deadlier than Ebola. So in my opinion we should try to live life to its fullest and enjoy it as much as we can as we don’t know what tomorrow brings.

We know that the theory that "the virus can't live above 77 degrees" is obviously a myth. Still lots of cases in the Southern states especially.
|
Just take the proper precautions and don’t worry about it.

Oh my goodness! The sky is falling again.
There must be a new virus out today that removes common sense from seniors. Since the virus survives cold temperatures, perhaps I can kill it by wearing heated gloves? Hmmm, have to check to see at what temperature the virus dies. :1rotfl: |
Ohiobuckeye if any of
If any of us really knew the answer. We could wash our hands for a half hr. or use a whole bottle of sanitizer then 5 sec. later touch something that’s contaminated. Then what? Are we never to touch anything. Or wear gloves then as soon as we touch something change them again. But as long as we don’t listen about social distancing like the protesters this virus will probably continue, because there’s always a know it all out there that think they know everything or they think they’re some kind of Dr. I pretty much do what they says, but are they right, heck I don’t know but so far I seem healthy but who knows!
