Bucks boycott play off game in response to Blake shooting
The Milwaukee Bucks are boycotting their playoff game today in protest of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI. The NBA and National Basketball Players Association announced all games Wednesday would be postponed after the Bucks players' decision.
The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds are reportedly boycotting their baseball game tonight at Miller Park. Seeing all the games are virtual and no fans are inconvenienced (except for maybe having to pick up the remote to change the station), it will be interesting to see fan reaction. Personally, I am so over professional sports. |

What? The NBA playing. Haven’t watch NBA since Spud Webb, DR. J and Larry bird. Spud was my all time favorite.

No more pro sports for me...

Players boycott, fans boycott. No more lucrative contracts for players and they lose their stage that could be used in a much more effective way.
|
Could care less if nba ends their season today.
|
If players boycotted every time there was an urban same race murder then professional sports would never exist.

Could care less if there was ever a sports game played again period!

Yawn...The NBA is so out of my universe of interests.

I believe they could make a much bigger impact if they focused on the black youth that need guidance as they grow up, Give them positive role models. Give them pathways where they can grow up and be productive adults. BLM is focused on a small sliver of situations where police officers target black youth. They ignore the opportunity to address the broader issue where the black youth need a positive role model to point them in the right direction. (and let me say it's not JUST the black youth... but that seems to be fashionable conversation lately). |
It’s incredible to see what has taken place in the world of sports. As a young boy In the Hudson valley in NY, I had one desire and that was to play mlb. We slept and ate baseball! In those days the Major leaguers had winter jobs to make it through. Some picked up jobs in construction or worked gas stations ect. They simply loved the game, and we loved them and emulated them. Today it’s disgraceful to see some of the superstars use their platform to make fools of themselves. Basketball, football, and now the pastime of summer. Some of us served honorably in the military and gave our best to a great country! Many of the professional ball players left the game they loved to go to war n serve their country. No comparison to today. We have no desire to even watch a game as we see the foolishness on display

I'm personally over them too. I actually have lost respect for professional athletes in the past year. Overpaid whine babies doing nothing more than playing sports demonstrating total disrespect for the fans and country that gave them the opportunity to do in the first place.

Notice that the PGA Tour players studiously avoid political positions because as "independent contractors" it will affect their individual brand by alienating half of the public. Besides, professional athletes are "entertainers". I want their entertainment--not their opinion on any subject. Just do their jobs, shut up and take the money--or lose my viewership.

Then why the comment? What are you looking for here?

no loss...don't watch any other time

I think they should boycott one game for every lost Black Life that doesn’t Matter In the daily Chicago shootings. That way they may focus some attention on the real problem and spare us more of their BS.
Go watch Villager sports instead. |
I so impressed that these young men in professional sports would potentially sacrifice millions of dollars for a cause to make America better. Look at what happened to Kapernick! How many on TOTV would sacrifice or speak against the atrocities?Would you put your head down and not see what continues to happen?

I’m totally tired of career criminals being turned into martyrs or heroes. They are not! |
AMEN---this BLACK thing is getting out of control...and it is a BLACK thing ! You get what you deserve ! We All should boycot ALL professional sports orginations that take this position. It's a bunch of BS !
|
These athletes with exceptional skills unfortunately do not use their celebrity to go after their concerns in an intelligent manner. Their response has destroyed whatever credibility they had, and accomplishing nothing but negativity toward them, professional sports, and the real problems. Adios!
|
You're impressed ??? You should be upset that these wealthy unprofessional thugs are disgracing our Flag, National Anthem, etc.
Are you impressed with what's happening in Chicago, Portland, and many other places?? Get Real ! |
We must stop shooting Black people
It’s not about sports It’s about taking a stand against murdering people |
May lightning strike us if we EVER watch another NBA game. Big bunch of spoiled thugs.

Not Many Black Golfers

Aren't we glad that we aren't black? When a white person gets pulled over by the police, the first thing that eneters his mind is "Oh, oh - probably getting a traffic ticket", while the black when being pulled over only hopes he doesn't die. For the most part we are a racist society, for if we weren't we might understand and appreciate the reasons these pro players are ****ed off, instead of passing them off as unappreciative "thugs". LeBron James pays for college education at the University of Akron, for kids that complete his "I Promise Program". This young, gifted pro b-ball player is anything but a "thug". LeBron James will pay Akron University tuition for qualifying students through his ‘I Promise’ program - New York Daily News |

Soooo true.....

I'm becoming offended that almost all the players are black. We should have a certain amount of white players even if their talent is inferior. I'm concerned that the white players are being subjected to loud rap music in the locker room and being bullied into wearing funny clothes and massive amounts of expensive jewelry. I'm concerned for their safety. White players matter.

They can protest. Owner should withhold paychecks or donate that pay to a charity instead. They should also forfeit the game.
