Is it the same as non white people?

In context for example, if a company has a stated goal of employment by the year 2025 to be 70% people of color.

Beats me.

African Americans keep changing what we should call them.

Society keeps changing what they call Black Americans, not Black Americans. 😄

I have heard enough rap that I know we aren't supposed to call them what they call them selves.



I am trying to figure out now that I live in Florida if I am a "cracker" and whether being a "cracker' is a good or bad thing.

I know that I will be white after Labor Day. Nothing much I can do about it.

Yeah, many are still searching what term to use for Italian Americans, Mexican Americans and such.

So, let's have a great on each person who looks a bit different.

Simple question with an "example" (not an announcement).
Change the percentages to suit...
If it makes a difference label it hypothetical instead of example

You must forgive me right at the start, I don’t mean nothing bad at all. Why do black people want to be called African American? Most have never been there and their father, grandpa or great grandpa never stepped a foot in Africa. I know and I’m friends with black men and they don’t use or want to be called African Americans. Somehow the term is more widely used it seems. They have no desire to even go to Africa. Maybe I’m out of the loop. I don’t call myself German or French or Australian American. I’m sorry for my ignorance and never have intentions to offend on this subject. I’m really close like I already mentioned to black people. Does anyone know?

I remember reading somewhere you have to be Floridan by birth to be a legitimate Cracker, and that the term relates to the sound of the whip cracking during cattle drives of old. At some point it became a pejorative term used by minorities to insult Southerners. Then again, who knows. Maybe only people named Ritz can be called this.:1rotfl:

I recall a Art teacher saying many decades ago that white is not a color...it is the absence of color. If you Google "is white a color" you'll find one response is: .."in a technical sense, black and white are not colors, they're shades."

that means in a technical sense members of both races could be lumped together and classified as 'shady'...

even hypothetically speaking, I can't imagine any company setting a goal to have a workforce where 70% of the employees are known to be 'shady' people

As I said in an earlier post....pick a number...it ain't hypothetical!!!!

In a technical sense, black people and white people are neither black nor white.

Black people are a variety of shades of brown. White people are a variety of shades of beige. Amazingly enough (not really that amazing), beige is a shade of brown.

So in reality, we are ALL brown, to some extent or another. Even albinos are not white.

If you want different view of African Americans (AAs) views. U tube conservatives twins. Not all AAs think alike just like any other nationality.

It means anyone not Caucasian.

Not sure, but I think African Americans are those who were not born here but have emigrated here from Africa.. I think Blacks are those whose ancestors settled here, either willingly or not.

So we can say people of color and people of non color....or people of color and people of beige.....or like paint, there's cream, vanilla, alabaster, snow, Dover cliffs, lilly......et al
