I remember reading PASSES are given out at the Villages Box Office locations, since occupancy is limited you may be out of luck for opening day Oct 5th. Did not hear about online source.

CWGUY 10-01-2020 10:35 AM

:faint: I'm amazed nobody mentioned the insert in today's DAILY SUN. Oh well maybe someone will mention it when people start posting about not getting any information. :icon_wink:

MrExcite721 10-01-2020 10:47 AM

Passes will be available starting October 2nd, at 8:30 am . . . Per Dail Sun insert.

So they say that "standing and sitting on the sidewalks" will not be allowed. Gonna be fun to see how they try to enforce that.

you can call the box office on Friday rather than standing in line at one of the box offices
...you'll need to know which date and which square you'd like a ticket for

not sure how many tickets you will be able to purchase...there was an insert in the Daily Sun today with more information

CWGUY 10-01-2020 11:13 AM

 Their sidewalk..... they get to make the rules. Maybe they hope most will follow the rules. Wouldn't that be nice?

Almost as interesting on how they will enforce the entry procedures and what will happen when people leave for the night at 8PM and there is no one left? I guess there will be a lot of "hey honey, give me your ticket and I will take it out and give it to Bob so he can get in and then we can do that 20 more times" unless of course they provide wrist bands that self destruct if removed.

MrExcite721 10-01-2020 05:20 PM

Sheriff officers will be on site for security assistance I have read

vintageogauge 10-01-2020 06:14 PM

I'll go there just to see the disaster that it will be, have no desire to get a ticket but would like to see the clown show.

I hope people don't abuse the system such that they either shut it down or severely restrict the audience.

Yep, it'll be several weeks before the TV Entertainment & TV Polo people get their s**t together after 7 mos shutdown, and the FL opening of CV restrictions. Meanwhile, we'll be watching from a distance. (It's kinda like when a new restaurant opens-- day 1; great, days 2-14+; stay home.) Cheers!

What's all this about tickets for the squares and having to pay for them - I'm a snowbird and havn't seen anything about this - is this every day or is it just a special show ??? Can't see vendors being happy to exclude people or deter customers - what if you just want to eat at a restaurant e.g. McColls, Marguaretaville where are the entrance points ...more specific details please !!

J1ceasar 10-02-2020 05:28 AM

People are stir crazy . I have a ration for music.

Professor 10-02-2020 05:38 AM

Tickets are free. See the villages entertainment site to reserve.

jamorela 10-02-2020 06:03 AM

Mike1946, just the seating area where the band plays. This is for every day right now and tickets are free and limited.

There obviously will be the ones who wont follow rules and spoil it for the rest of us. Everyone has been in a meltdown since the square activities closed. How about everyone act like adults for once so it wont be closed again

chuckk281 10-02-2020 07:21 AM

Don't have to pay for them!!

Not everyone has been in a meltdown. Most Villages act like adults. I don't expect bad behavior. It will be closed again if we have a major resurgence in Florida.

When I taught small children, I had Officer Friendly come visit our classroom. Every police officer I have ever known or talked to has been positive and warm including my own Grandfather and uncle. We are nice people us Villagers, officer. Most of us.

My understanding is that the tickets are free but limited to the number of people they choose to allow. Getting them is a pain, and you may need to show your ID card. I’m not sure. It may help to restrict the number of people there who don’t live in The Villages. Let’s hope that by next summer we all have been vaccinated and the squares will be back to business as usual.

Lynnesail 10-02-2020 07:54 AM

No payment.

I actually got online this morning and was able to get the allowed 2 passes for 2 different shows.
The system was so jammed and slow. When I went back in within 20 min all shows were sold out. They only show 1 week in advance

Whoa, no one has to pay for any tickets to the squares

they are doing this to maintain social distancing....everyone that has a TV ID# can get a ticket from the box office (1st come, 1st served) limited to 2 tickets to control the crowd numbers....u bring your own chairs and no BYOB...the area that previously was used for dancing has been fenced off...rest of the square is open as usual

you can eat at any restaurant, you can shop at any retail store...u can walk around, but
you can't put a chair on the sidewalks apparently

Yes, but sadly those residing in "The Village of Entitled" which is just west of "The VIllage of MeMeMe" are always running around here somewhere. ;)

Just maybe because it will block the walkways where people actually, ummmm, WALK, and force people to walk into the street and get hit by some drunk in a golf cart. Can you imagine all those who didn't get tickets saying "HEY, I'll just put my lounge chair on the sidewalk." Don't make it more than it is. As it is, you can be sure that some folks will turn this into a fiasco yelling TYRANNY! I CAN'T SIT ON THE SIDEWALK! THE FIRST AMENDMENT SAYS FREEDOM OF SEATS!

I just got on just now (10:40 am) and tickets for most shows are still available. And the system is no longer slow

Not everyone gets the Sun. The villages should provide information for activities without having to pay for a marketing newspaper which doesn’t really represent news other than what houses are for sale, Contractors, ads and junk.

They have provided, you need to look.

That would be the equivalent of stopping a car on a busy road for the curiosity of watching a car accident or a train wreck. People do things like that, .....but ??????

After the unfortunate events that have recently occurred in D.C., Gov. DeSantis may be re-thinking the opening and returning to "normal" of the state. Then The Villiages would probably take their cue from that and begin scaling back on any crowd gatherings outdoors or indoors due to a need for caution. There is a good chance that it will NOT happen that way, also. It could go either way?

It wasn’t a pain. Ordered online and printed. Free. Limit of 2 per event.

Do you mean ordering tickets doesn’t work? It did for me. You couldn’t get on and order until 8:30. I believe you can only order thru the 12th so if right now.

 Sorry I'm a little confused again. With (guessing) 60,000 plus houses here how would you like them to provide information? Do you want a phone call or is it o.k. if they just send someone to your house? They use the Newspaper (which you don't like and I'm not guessing on that one) and they have a web site. You say the "Sun" is a marketing newspaper which doesn’t really represent news other than what houses are for sale, Contractors, ads and junk. YOU LEFT OUT IT ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION FOR ACTIVITIES.

I believe the sidewalks are public property so unless there is already a law against sitting in the sidewalk then legally they can not stop it ( or should say, should not be able to stop it)

newgirl 10-02-2020 09:37 PM

I went to the entertainment web site at 8:30 am and was able to get the tickets online with no problem. When I looked at it again at about 3pm and may shows we're sold out
