Jesus 2020

Many have been disturbed by the little white crosses placed on lawns. Today I was leaving our neighborhood and saw three separate yards with Jesus 2020 signs in their yards. I am not an atheist but these signs are a little tacky to me. One yard had three signs across their lawn. Has anyone else seen these signs in their neighborhood?

Mortal1 10-12-2020 01:12 PM

so your point is you don't think they're appropriate?

JSR22 10-12-2020 01:17 PM

They are not appropriate. I have not seen them in the Village I live in. there are not suppose to be lawn signs.

Well, then you are going to have to make a decision as to whether or not you’re going to make a complaint with the Community Standards.

And, no, haven’t seen those in my neighborhood.

No, I think they are against our covenants.

Topspinmo 10-12-2020 09:45 PM

Are you talking to me? If so way up north.

Please stay on topic, which is yard signs. Posts about religious beliefs have been removed. Thanks.

In my area, holiday lawn ornaments are allowed for up to 30 days.

Well, just whine and complain about it on this forum and they will disappear.

Scott O 10-13-2020 05:36 AM

Nope, and I would not care if I did see one...it’s called freedom

Scott O 10-13-2020 05:39 AM

Just hop in your golfcart go and start dialing...

pvetrano1 10-13-2020 06:07 AM

Who cares ???

noslices1 10-13-2020 06:17 AM

This is an election year and political signs are allowed. Apparently, this person would prefer a “Write in” candidate.

UseYourBrain 10-13-2020 06:31 AM

One of the reasons I love it here is how all the yards look so well kept. I have a friend who is considering moving here just because where he lives is not that way. It gives a great impression of the villages and keeps YOUR home value up.

The deed restrictions say nothing but plants should be in your front yard. Please keep it that way !!

Once the door is opened to an exception, Pandora’s box will be opened and voila, trailer park, because not everyone has good taste.

nancyjo 10-13-2020 06:47 AM

Surely in 2020 you can find bigger annoyances to complain about.....

Bay Kid 10-13-2020 07:34 AM

Everybody has an opinion. Problem is when your opinion is the only right opinion. Life is short.

LucyP 10-13-2020 07:45 AM

I have not seen Jesus 2020 signs but white crosses on my street like 6 of them. They are not big , just like putting a turtle or bird statue in your yard but you don’t like white crosses, it’s choice. You would not like whole Village area I live in. Many yard statues on everyone yard.

PennBF 10-13-2020 07:46 AM

Missing the Point

You are missing the point. It is not the cross's it is the creeping moves to override the Deed Restrictions and the question is then " WHERE DOES IT STOP". I have actually no sympathy for the residents who decide to try to destroy the Deed Restrictions they signed up for when they purchased in The Villages. The same ones who have cross's in the yard are the ones who "Lied" when they signed off on their Deed Restrictions commitment's. Kind of ironic??:ohdear:

dplars 10-13-2020 07:59 AM

Yes, in my front yard.

Ralpha 10-13-2020 08:19 AM

I think they are totally inappropriate, not everyone who lives in The Villages are Christians. I am a non Christian and I find that stuff offensive.
I don’t understand why they think it is so important to display their religious views. I guess they think it makes them a better “Christian” by sticking their religious stuff out in the yard.
Be whatever you want to be, but keep it to yourself.

Pbthrockm@msn.com 10-13-2020 08:20 AM

They are an expression of a persons belief. After all we have been thru during this epidemic people need something to hold on to. That is Faith that times will change for the better. Don’t take that away by filing a complaint. Just drive by and be thankful for another day.

30 days too long. 7 days maybe. IMO day before!:duck:

merrymini 10-13-2020 08:42 AM

Obey the rules, what is so hard about that? If signs are not allowed, do not put them up. If you want to do that, move to a place that allows it.

Moderator 10-13-2020 08:43 AM

Again, please stay on topic. It's Jesus 2020 yard signs, not white crosses, their meaning, or one's personal religious beliefs. Posts have been removed and infractions given. Thanks.

saywhat 10-13-2020 09:12 AM

Rules are rules... You sign a contract with The Villages accepting that you will adhere to the deed restrictions. But then you **** and moan that you have a right to do what you want. Big cry babies that refuse to follow the rules and then get butt hurt when people call you out on them, is the epitome of entitled old fops. Apparently rules and laws only apply to other people. We paid to live in a deed restricted beautiful community. Follow the rules or move. What is wrong with you people... And you complain about millennials! Now I understand why the term boomers is derogatory!
IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE...FOLLOW THE RULES/DEED RESTRICTIONS YOU AGREED TO!

Bucco 10-13-2020 09:21 AM

National campaign.

Thousands of signs printed as Jesus 2020 campaign grows

Bucco 10-13-2020 09:24 AM

"The Jesus 2020 campaign began in May of 2020, soon after the church of Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer, Ala. reopened its doors after the initial COVID-19 closure. In a discussion during one of their Sunday School meetings, the members decided that they wanted a sign to show that they still believed in God, despite all the negativity in the world right now."

I didn't know Jesus was running for office. What party? :)

HospitalCoder 10-13-2020 09:33 AM

I think they are tacky as well. Looks like little cemeteries all over. Blech.

Well then explain why contractors replacing windows in Fenny not only have lawn signs but a device to hand out flyers about their company

I see NO complaining about Halloween trash laying around people’s front yards similar to the picture below, but signs about Jesus upsets you….. :ohdear:

Be whatever you want to be, but keep it to yourself.

I am going to use your complaint and insert a political persons belief instead.
What if I am not a Democratic and find all the Biden signs offensive? Not everyone who lives in the Villages are Democrats. (Just as you said not everyone are Christians) To quote you “I don’t understand why they have to display their views.” Does it make them a better “Democratic” by sticking their political stuff in their yards? Be whatever political party you want but to quote you again “Keep it to yourself.” See how that sounds when you say that a Jesus sign offends you?

Everybody seems to be offended by everybody now days. If your post is true then everybody should remove all their political signs because they might offend me or other people who don’t share their beliefs.
I don’t believe this but am using your logic as an example of how ridiculous your thinking is.

Sherry8bal 10-13-2020 10:38 AM

With all the rioting and unrest in this country today, I think we need more signs like this to make people stop and think of their actions, their words, and how they treat other people. God has been taken out of too many things in our lives and he needs to come back.

TimeForChange 10-13-2020 10:57 AM

Just down the street a couple has spider webs and little rats all over their house and driveway. I just don't look and it doesn't bother me.

Tbrazie 10-13-2020 11:08 AM

Really?

Mind your own business seems appropriate here. Free country. Why use negative energy for this

There's a house near my friend's up in Calumet Grove (just off of Fieldcrest) that has large Trump signs both out by the edge of the yard against a big tree and in the window facing the road. Guess no covenants up there!

Taltarzac725 10-13-2020 11:22 AM

Have not seen any of these signs in Lynnhaven.

"Jesus is the reason for the season" signs start showing up as we near the Christmas holidays though. And these are in the front yards. Backyards have more stuff in Lynnhaven.
