I do, and this is why>

Stu from NYC 10-13-2020 02:51 PM

very good

Aloha1 10-13-2020 03:57 PM

Roflmao!!

New Englander 10-13-2020 04:21 PM

I like it because I feel burning it and generating electricity is better than going into a landfill.

Klemetsenrr 10-13-2020 04:57 PM

Best for the environment - and convenient

1) the pictures of the bodies is hilarious! Touché

2) I worked on a special project for my last employer (a company with a strong focus on the environment). As part of the project we spent three years studying the best recycling programs in the US and Canada - with a focus on the globe for innovation also. In the end, to our great surprise, we found out that the very best recycling program in terms of net negative impact on the environment was to put all trash and recycling products into a contained burner - which I believe is what we have down in the Fenney area. So I was excited to see that!

3) This method is so much easier, no endless sorting and no more arguing with my spouse about what can or can't be recycled - lol.

Love this system, easier for us and better for the environment :)

BostonRich 10-13-2020 06:00 PM

Big plus for me. Just throw everything in together and put it outside. No more sorting, no more cutting every plastic soda bottle carrier, no more questions of "is this recyclable"? What about this pizza box? Too greasy? Glass? Is this plastic thing good or bad?

Yup love it.

OrangeBlossomBaby 10-13-2020 06:41 PM

Over in the historic side, nothing has changed. We still have recycling once a week, trash pickup that day plus a second day each week. That means the garbage guy comes past our house three times every week, because he does a separate pass just for the recycling (even though it's on the same day as one of the trash pickups).

I'd be for consolidating all the trash, and incinerating it in a power plant. It wasn't an ecologically sound choice until technology caught up with waste management but now it is a good option.

Did you forget the "lawn waste" pickup once a week ... that's 1 more trip. Or don't they have that up there?

That's taken along with the trash.

valuemkt 10-13-2020 10:18 PM

Excellent ! The service below 44 is far superior to above.. They are great

kaydee 10-13-2020 10:39 PM

I’m happy with the process.
From another site, it was posted by a worker hoping people will be thoughtful & not overload the yard waste. When a household has an abundance of yard waste to place it over the 2 day pick up. Maybe we could also help these hard working guys by bundling with twine when possible or bagging.

davem4616 10-14-2020 01:51 AM

it's easier...I'm all for easier

Mrprez 10-14-2020 04:46 AM

Less trucks in the neighborhoods is a good thing. Our villa is a madhouse with the lawn guys, the bug guys, the trash pickup, the crown molding guys, the flooring guys, the landscapers, etc, etc.

vinricci 10-14-2020 05:41 AM

So if it generating electricity why didn’t our pickup rates go down?

The service below 44 is the same service above 44 as of October 1st. According to OBB, the exception to this service is the historic area.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this new method of collection and incinerating at the Covanta Facility. Now I'm assured all trash, yard waste and what used to be our recycle materials are not winding up in a landfill. Win Win for all.

I was told by the department of trash collection that the maximum is 10 bags.

airdale2 10-14-2020 06:20 AM

I live in Oak Grove in LadyLake, 1st one truck that empty's the green cans comes thru, then the recycle truck comes thru, then another truck with a worker on the back comes thru and gathers up everything left like piles of brush or whatever. 3 trucks the same day.

Because they have to pay to dump at the trash burner site after a fairly long ride ( compared to the ride to the transfer station off Powell rd.)

Law stuff is picked up along with everything else 2x week. No extra day.

cmapgurley@comcast.net 10-14-2020 06:48 AM

because it's not SECO who gets the benefit, another Elec co does....

PoolBrews 10-14-2020 07:36 AM

I don't have an issue with the new trash pickup process. I DO have an issue with the increased cost, and the guaranteed increase over the next 5 years. We already paid far more than if we were hiring a competitive company to pick up our trash.

I would think that putting everyone on the same plan would save them money (and it does!), but they charge more than they should because you have no other options. Once again, greed at work,

SKIMAN 10-14-2020 07:39 AM

Very Happy With The New Sys:icon_wink:tem

merrymini 10-14-2020 07:49 AM

Disgusted about the lack of recycling and the supposed better system of less work to pick up because they cancelled a pick up day. Saving my aluminum cans and bringing them to recycling myself. By the way, glass is still going to a landfill.

Topspinmo 10-14-2020 08:05 AM

Works fine for me except I pay more for less and next year will really pay more.

Yes, great deal they got less pickUp pay more. When I was in military had saying “do more with less”. Now we get “less with more cost.”

Once again, greed at work,

It's like $2.85! That's only $22.23 a month. I'd paid that just for the increased ease of preparing and throwing out my trash not to mention the energy generating and reduced landfill aspect.

Greed? How about rather impressive technology and common sense?

UpNorth 10-14-2020 08:27 AM

Much easier, but not doing the "recycling thing" makes me feel a bit guilty, after all these years. But I'll get over it (in a couple of weeks). :)

BumpaOompa 10-14-2020 08:46 AM

Hilarious!
Waste to Energy is a great alternative and it’s not all incinerated. They do filter out those materials which can easily be recycled.

I’m not so sure. I wonder if the effluent cloud of toxic emissions will rain down on Villages if wind is right. Do you really believe that the emissions from the stacks are healthy to inhale?

The emissions are converted into energy. That is the whole point. There's no smoke coming out of haystacks because all that burnt stuff is running through pipes connected to generators.

Waste to energy is an ecological dream come true.

Bwolf1 10-14-2020 10:08 AM

Get ready. If we get letters for lawn ornaments, this could get you a no knock search warrant. You could end up on the 6 O’clock News.

Yes, of course.

NavyVet 10-14-2020 11:03 AM

Anyone else using up the clear recycle bags we had to buy? I'm using mine to empty the shredder until they're gone, then back to cheaper regular bags.
