The village with the best location

OK, first off you CANNOT choose your location in The Villages. Because we all know how that is going to work out. Everybody thinks their location is the best. But, if you had to move to another location, where would that be? I saw this video on Youtube and thought this would be a good topic.

Once again a personal preference. If you don't live here I would suggest renting for a month and really spending time talking with people and checking out all of the different areas. Some want to be near the action, others near athletic amenities, and others want peace and quiet. The good thing is you have lots to choose from both north and south with lots of re-sales being available. New construction is only in the south with few exceptions.

JSR22 10-25-2020 10:42 AM

I would choose Lakeshore Cottages at Sumter Landing.

All of the above would apply to EVERY Village, especially ours, lol!

It depends on what is important to you. For instance, I know someone who is looking for a home where she can take her dog on a three mile walk and stop at a Starbucks. Since the Starbucks are at Lake Sumter and Buffalo Ridge, I would steer he towards villages in those areas.

I have another friend who wants a daily walk on nature trails. The Villages near Monarch Grove would be best for her.

I know someone who has a lot of health issues. Being close to their doctors save them a lot of time each week.

Some folks like drinking and dancing but don’t want to worry about drunk driving. Being within walking distance to a square would be a good location for them.

If you are planning on spending lots of time at the wood shop, a home very close to the one you signed up for may be the best Village for you.

Look at your day to day interests and we could help you come up with a few villages that would work for you.

Virginia Trace (next to ours Sabal Chase ). Close to Lake Sumter Landing and shopping. Close to regional rec centers and championship golf. No place to build apartments

427dave 10-25-2020 12:07 PM

We have lived here since 2000, the Villages lies about everything concerning location and what will be built near you. The best area just keeps moving.

Where is the new construction in your village?????????

REDCART 10-25-2020 12:51 PM

As TV’s realtors like to say, “There are no bad neighborhoods in TV. “ There are however negative locations within each village. Heavily trafficked streets, proximity to MMP’s and roadways regularly used by golf carts. (The gas golf carts create more noise than cars.) proximity to water or sewage treatment facilities because of the odor or fire stations. Homes across from mail stations or close to pickle ball courts might also make the list.

This is why it is best to rent for some period of time to get to know this place

FUNNY you mention that. When we bought we told our agent it had to be 3 miles from Starbucks (not for a dog but for our own walk every morning. She of course thought we were nuts but she did it. We found a place in Amelia 2.98 miles walk from our front door to SBX front door at LSL! :1rotfl: There are a couple homes around here for sale you should tell her to check out Amelia. :)

North of 44.

dewilson58 10-26-2020 05:38 AM

I concur, it's perhaps the most appealing of all to me...quaint and close to everything that you'd want to be close to
on a daily basis

La lamy 10-26-2020 06:53 AM

Bonita Village. Love most areas between 466 and 44.

chrissy2231 10-26-2020 06:55 AM

Anywhere near Sumter Landing. Access to other villages will be 30 minutes at most.

DecaturFargo 10-26-2020 07:41 AM

I just heard a couple of folks complain that at night you cannot sit on your lanai because it's too loud from the square. Now, they are concrrmed about proposed apartments thst will impact their homes.

Bay Kid 10-26-2020 07:46 AM

So many great choices!

Troopie 10-26-2020 09:05 AM

The village with the best location

Definitely Collier. There's a cut through for golf carts that leads to Eisenhower, and you can get to Brownwood within minutes.

Myrtle beach SC

Since it’s said most move 2-3 times, ease of resale may factor in.

newgirl 10-26-2020 09:49 AM

I am so glad I chose to meet the neighbors prior to buying, since homes are so close I advise talking to those ( pool is a great way to learn about the area ) that live on the block you are looking at. A bad neighbor or two can make the best location feel like the worst. I know more who have changed villages do to bad neighbors then any other reason .

The north end, no traffic, easy access to supermarket, drug store and rec centre and the multi-modal trail. Briar Meadow, Chatham

It seems like you may hear the LSL square music from there. If so, I wouldn't love it.

kcrazorbackfan 10-26-2020 07:42 PM

We just moved to Bradford from St. James and really, really like it here. To each their own.

arbajeda 10-28-2020 05:15 AM

Anything off either Pinellas Place or Hillsboro Trail, between Buena Vista and Morse. Plenty of rec centers, all three types of pools and convenient to the three existing town squares as well as the full gamut of retail. And we couldn't find anything that we liked so we ended up somewhere else.

thevillager1988 10-28-2020 06:44 AM

I am reading the original post as a question about your "dream location". We love our home down south, and everything about it. But my dream location, like one other respondent, is the cottages in Lake Sumter. (I like this post - fun to dream)

OhioBuckeye 10-28-2020 09:52 AM

Ohiobuckeye,

You're right Lottoguy, everybody will probably say the Village they live in or they wouldn't be living there. All TV area's are good! It just depends on how far do you want to live from intertainment, grocery stores or things you like to do!

Lynnhaven Corridor is made up of five villages—Lynnhaven, Ashland, Bonnybrook, Belvedere, and Tall Trees. Close to everything—supermarkets and all forms of shopping, restaurants, medical facilities at Laurel Manor, banks, library, Lifetime Learning College at one time, and on and on. On CR-466 which runs west to US-301 and east past Buena Vista and Morse Blvds to US-27/441. In between Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs. An ideal location!

Chitty Chatty. It’s situated perfectly between the past and future with a quaint, private village feel. From there, the Rohan area is a 3 min golf cart ride and all the new probabilities and actualities of the area is intriguing and exciting.
