Golf cart parades
 

Can't wait until November 4th
Twice I have tried to get to my destination in my golf cart only to be held up by obnoxious people in their carts blocking cart paths for miles honking and yelling. Missed my Tee time once. You don't influence my vote....well maybe to the other party.

Guess it bothers you that someone posts a complaint or opinion about The Villages in a section of TALK OF THE VILLAGES called "The Villages", Florida, General Discussion about an experience they had in/around The Villages. First time that has ever happened on this forum! ;)

I sadly believe that it won't end even AFTER Nov 3.

Have you tried passing them? That is unless they are traveling at the speed limit and your cart won't exceed that. In that case, maybe you should have left home a bit earlier. OR, maybe the golf cart parade was for the opposing party that you do not agree with? Just speculation. Never heard of anyone else complaining and I have never experienced ANY parade traffic, so it must not be a frequent thing.

I walk for exercise daily and have to be ultra cautious of all the golfers in their carts driving but not paying attention to the “ multi modal” path but I just chill out, watch out, and enjoy 😊 the day.

I agree. It’s like you have to strategically plan when to leave to get coffee at Starbucks or Panera....otherwise forget it...you will be stuck for days!

Don't know about the rest of you, but I find the Villages to be quite peaceful and enjoyable. I must live in the good part, huh?

In all fairness to the OP, I was golfing on Sat on Virginia(Mallory), and we saw the cart parade coming from LSL, down BVB to Lake Miona Rec Ctr. It was LONG, and it backed up from the tunnel/stop sign(s), all the way back up to the Stillwater tunnel. Needless to say, I also remarked to my golf mates how I couldn't imagine trying to get anywhere. You might as well turn around and drive all the way around TV to your destination?!

Having been a part of the parade I thought the same thing about anyone who had to get to a tee time. However, I did not see any obnoxious people. I know I let a couple of carts in at tunnels etc. I think you may have gotten a little more sympathy if you hadn't started out calling people obnoxious......

Election almost here. Golf courses will always be here.

I always leave early for my tee times. That way I can enjoy my ride and relax before a great round of golf in TVs.

I think that you did not want to make the parade line longer by jumping in and traveling with them until your turn off. They let me in and I went at normal speed to my destination. Also had fun with all the enthusiastic people. I did see some unapproving grumps watching. Must have been YOU.

We went to one Golf Cart Parade before the Pandemic and I was surprised how much we enjoyed watching it. I found myself standing on the corner at Lake Sumter Landing waving and throwing kisses. And my heart was booming in pride? Camraderie? Patriotism? It is so good sometimes to cheer your team. Be a part of a tribe. I was so loving the respectful folks in their Golf Carts smiling at us. I love it here.

I agree with you! I have already voted and not one sign or flag influenced me for who I voted for.
Look out November 4 if a winner is declared November 3. I think there will be chaos in the squares. There will be those who are excited their candidate won and those who are angry because their candidate lost. I hope I’m wrong!

It wont it’s how you choose to be as a person, same with the pandemic and every other distractions
