TOTV Login Facial Recognition?
Friend told me the TOTV moderator assigned her login via facial recognition? When did TOTV start that?

I have a bridge for sale if you're interested.

I am not sure I will continue using TOTV if they remove access to the old version? I am definitely out if I need to use facial recognition to login.

Facial recognition is used on many iPhones to sign into an app without having to use a password. That's how I access my bank accounts and many other apps. Maybe that's what the OP was talking about.

Device dependent
I suspect your friend is using a device that uses facial recognition for logging into the device (certain recent Apple phones, for example). My iPhone allows me to logon to it using my fingerprint. When I allow my iphone to store my password for a particular site, like the villages.net, my phone prompts me to authenticate by fingerprint to access the site, rather than entering the password. It is similar to when PC users allow their internet browser, like Google, to store their password so they do not need to enter it every time they use the site.
So, it isn’t TOTV that is doing facial recognition, it is the device the person is using to look at TOTV. Nothing to worry about🙂 |

Should be a non-issue. Moderator |
Yikes, even though facial recognition is not a necessity from this website, I fear I will always be behind the 8 ball with technology. I am still using an IPhone 6, so definitely no facial recognition on that!

Could be possible. I use facial recognition with my gate pass.

People will believe anything.
For April Fools one year, I posted official-looking notices on all the copy machines explaining they had been updated with voice recognition. You had to register your voice. State your name, the word, "copies" and the number of copies, and then the word "start". Because it is in learning mode, you might have to repeat the command slower and louder. Multiple people were standing and screaming at the copy machines, "Joe Blow, copies, 10, start". It was hilarious. |

TOTV is NOT doing facial recognition! If that was the case it was a device on her end.

Kidda personal. :clap2: |
Everyone looks the same to me when I drive through the Villages, so I think that it would take a pretty good program to recognize one old senior from another...........:1rotfl::MOJE_whot:

Facial recognition, finger prints, retina identification are all invasion of privacy and should only be used by the police, officials etc under very special circumstances. The fact that Apple would like to make it common, using NASA type security for your family cell phone (hubby and I have 4 of them which we share constantly) does not make it more acceptable. If one believes that Ancestry.com doesn’t share their DNA with the police, and one believes that Apple keeps their profile private then they are ignorant and vulnerable.

Facial recognition also requires that the user have a webcam. Since so many Villagers don't even know what that word means, let alone have one of their own, I'm doubting ToTV will EVER require facial recognition to log in. They'd lost half their membership.
