Kitchen gel mats
I have been having hip issues ( bursitis & arthritis).
Have any of you bought a kitchen gel mat and has it helped. The kitchen tile floor seems to make my condition worse. Thanks! |
Hubby doesn’t like standing still for long. We got two kitchen gel mats for him, one in front of the stove, one in front of the sink. He likes them. (I keep almost tripping over them because they are about an inch thick, but he says it helps him.)

Most kitchen mats sold are actually made of foam, not gel. But, they do help. A good place to buy them is Home Depot. Another place is Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but they are more expensive.

I am worried about tripping on it but my hip needs it.
Thanks. |
I have had a few over the years. GelPro makes the best IMHO. I LOVE mine!
Their mats are thick and resilient but beveled around the edges. I have never stumbled on or around it. |
I have 3 "gel pro"mats from Walmart, on-line only. tried cheaper ones but a lot less cushion and they wore out fast. I also always wear either "oofu or Telic" sandals when I'm home. they have a lot of cushion. really worth the $$

I bought 2. One for in front of the sink and one for the island. They do help if standing for a while. Bought them from Amazon - lots of choices.

Agree with the comments - have had them for years, don't trip over them, and they make a difference. As an added note, I also have a backless counter stool I pull up on the "work" side when doing a lot of prep or we have guests. It is backless so it can be tucked under the counter when not in use.

I wear a slip on shoe or flip flop with a nice cushion sole around the house. I also get the SAS brand sandals because they have a good cushion sole. Tile is hard on my hip and knee joints.

I have one in front of my sink. I think I bought it at Sams. I love it. It’s made in the US by Apache Mills, Inc. Calhoun, GA. 20x36. It’s made of 100% PVC foam. I need a second one in my woodshop.

I bought my first mat in 2011 when we moved here, got it at Sam's Club for $35. It was dark brown, I had compared them to the ones at Bed, Bath & Beyond and they were over $100 at the time.
In August we had new wood floors installed and I wanted a lighter brown color to match and the original one was 9 years old and started to show some wear on the outside. We got one at Amazon for $36 with free shipping, they have many to choose from. |
Nice to see you posting again, John W.

I have them because of a medical condition and have one in front of sink and one in front of stove. I love them and they are rounded around the edge so you won't trip on them. I think I got them at Kohls.

You can order from Costco.com if you are unable to drive to a Costco.

I like mine. I have it beside my sink and it helps if I am standing for a long period of time.

The hard floors are killer on feet as well. Padded mats might help, but avoid walking around barefoot, especially if you've dealt with Plantar Fasciitis (very painful.) I swear by Easy Spirit slip-on mules as a good support house shoe/slipper. They are very comfortable!

Bought 2 on Amazon.
