Who wants WHITE CASTLE in The Villages?

.
. Who remembers WC Sliders? Still crave? I know...frozen products avail in stores - not the same at all. I grew up in Chicago area - 35 years there, and would LOVE to have the ability to get Sliders locally...not every day or week mind you, but... yum. Tiny hamburger time grows ever nearer for Orlando. Construction will begin on Orlando's first branch of the famed fast-food chain White Castle – also set to be the largest free-standing White Castle in the WORLD. The 4,567 square-foot restaurant – complete with indoor and outdoor seating and two drive-through lanes – will be located at the Village at O-Town West, a mixed-use development at the intersection of Palm and Daryl Carter parkways. The Orlando White Castle is on track to open in 2021, adding 120 jobs to the area, as well as countless miniature sandwiches. White Castle executives said Florida caught its attention thanks to groups like “Bring White Castle to Florida,” a Facebook page with almost 10,000 followers. ....................................... Cravers - let's get a WC or two in The Villages! Business would be brisk with so many here with the taste for sliders...> - White Castle Bring White Castle to Florida (BTW I also read that Portillo's is building a restaurant in the same Orlando area...) |
Haven’t seen a WC in years! We had Krystal but they just weren’t quite the same.
|
I didn't even realize that they were still in business. Kind of like Joe and Nemo's. Haven't McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's pretty much put them both out of business?
|
My cardiologist added his name early and often to that facebook page
|
There goes my polished figure. I could go for a couple of Double Cheeseburgers with Bacon and some Onion Rings. What Mrprez said about Krystals is on the Money. The White Castles in the Supermarket are not even close to the ones outta a fast food joint. You can count on us if they open one as long as the preparers wear masks.

I heard a rumor that big pharma, all the manufacturers of stool softeners and obstipation remedies, are vigorously working to counter any expansion of White Castle franchises.
|
I would definite go back to buying and eating 6 at a time, yum yum...... :a040:
|
We’ve got them in the frozen food section.:duck:

Having lived most of my life in close proximity to Louis Lunch, and having worked at both Burger King and McDonalds, I've learned to accept that any fast-food burger might as well be any other fast-food burger.
Louis Lunch is the first hamburger joint in the country, and it still serves hundreds of people every day in a tiny brick building. The building, on the National Historic Registry, was actually moved down the block due to development of the area. They grind 5 different cuts of meat every day in the back room, all burgers are cooked to order on cast-iron grills that they installed back in 1898. It's served on white toast. You can get cheese-wiz, onion, or tomato. No ketchup, no mustard, no pickles lettuce whatever else. They will yell at you if you even ask. They're amazing. |

I like me some White Castles now and again...do not support Crystal Burgers they are not the same at all. I must say if you warm up the Frozen White Castles with cheese carefully...they taste pretty good... I have fond memories of White Castle being one of the few restaurants that people in the South end of Columbus, Ohio allowed themselves to spend money AT. dangle participle. |
Woo Hooo!
Midnight run to Orlando. Whose in? |
I heard that it will be located between Costco and Trader Joe’s.

I remember the White Castles in the ghettos of NYC. I also remember eating there and the subsequent diarrhea.
|
I had White Castle burgers once many years ago on Long Island. That was enough for me!
|
White Castle? No, no, no. We need Whataburger.
|
Had them all the time as a kid and loved them, rockaway and liberty, ozone park.

I preferred “Smacks Drive Ins” home of the 19 cent hamburger and 15 cent fries. |

Now I’m really looking forward to moving to The Villages...retirement in 2.5 years, full time in the villages in 3.5...
|
I tried White Castle once which was more than enough - ugh. I'll stick with Carl's. Jr's. In and out never did it for me although Bob Hope liked them.

I was at White Castle’s yesterday. I take care of my mom so I’m in NY about 10 days/month. I visit WC about once per month, love the taste but can feel my arteries narrowing as I eat them. My first memory of throwing up was from WC, I was about 6yo.
The other burger suggestions here are good too, In-N-Out and Whataburger. I have been to In-N-Out many times and like their burgers and fries. I’ve been to Whataburger only couple times and recall it being quality beef. What I would love to see is a Carvel. I go to Carvel fairly often in NY but it would be nice to visit one in a GC. |
Ah yes the memories of grease running down your chin at every bite .
|
That’s what TV needs. More crappy food
|
Nothing like a good rat burger.
|
My system just does not tolerate fast food, anymore. Even when we drive our 18 hour shift up north, we pack food and snacks. As far as White Castle I Have no memory of ever eating there
|
White Castle ?
BEST in the world ! |

Love WC!
I lived in Columbus, Ohio most of my adult life and love WC. I used to have breakfast with a group on many mornings. Needless to say I really enjoyed the tiny burgers. Now living in an area that doesn't have WC.
|
#1 with extra pickles and a coke please.
|
Am I the only one who didn’t get White Castle? We had Royal Castle. Same thing——good! But there chocolate thick drink...sort of like a frosty! So for breakfast 1 big thick frosty chocolate in frosted mug and 4 sliders before heading into Collinwood High School. Yum

Me. ;)

No way!!, wouldn't take it if it were free!!
|
Omg I would love white castle to come to the villages. I grew up on gut grenades. There chicken ring sandwiches are amazing also. I'm definitely driving to Orlando when they are up and running.
