Just saw this online news. Too bad - seemed like a wonderful man. He will be missed.

Sorry, but life goes on. Wonder who will be his replacement (tough....) My gut says Ken Jennings.

After a lifetime of watching this show, I actually answered 3 questions correctly in one night last week. A miracle.

Mr. Trebek was a Humble Man in my eyes and he will be missed by his fans and family. What is RIP for $2000!

R.I.P. Alex Trebek......

A Replacement - Anything that is NOT in the Acting profession or a so call Comedian!

Carla B 11-08-2020 04:23 PM

Although it was going to happen sooner rather than later, it is sad. What a fun career some people have and he did a really good job at it.

Jima64 11-08-2020 04:39 PM

Nope

Replacement not Ken. I did see the name of the man that will replace him. Forgot it, is in the entertainment industry but not a comedian.

Stu from NYC 11-08-2020 04:41 PM

It was the perfect role for him

I have an inversion table I use everyday in the guest bedroom. The TV in that room is connected to an antenna in the attic, so I pick up Buzzr TV on channel 64 and usually about that time Concentration is on.

In 2004 when Ken Jennings had that 74 game run I started watching Jeopardy and continued watching until about five years ago. Then last year when the gambler from Las Vegas James Holzhauer started his 32 game streak I started watching again. So in the evening I see Alex looking much different, it's almost like it's two different people.

RIP Alex, you will be missed!

For many years stopped watching but started again when Ken Jennings was on.

He had an incredible knowledge of trivia and when they did a championship show loved how Ken and the other guy knew so much and how well Alex handled the show.

I also was a fan of the Las Vegas gambler James Holzhauer who had won 32 games. Mostly because of the way he hunted for the daily doubles and always bet big, just like a gambler. He was like Ken in that there wasn't a subject he didn't know. I wouldn't mind if he became the new host.

Alex Trebek was a one of a kind. If they decide to replae him I hope it is someone completely different in every way other than intellect.

He suffered with dignity and showed the world there is a way to live with terminal cancer, he was brave beyond words. My heart goes out to his wife and children.

airdale2 11-09-2020 05:45 AM

He was no silver spoon, while in college he spent one summer on the back of a garbage truck dumping cans.

Well said. I heard they taped almost a years worth of shows so it will be a while before we see his replacement.

Very sad! My father died of pancreatic cancer 21 years ago at age 65 and only lived 1 1/2 years after diagnosis. Sadly doesn't seem to have made any progress in treatment/cure over all that time. RIP Alex. Will miss him on Jeopardy.

My grandmother died at 65 With PC that raised me when I was 12. We were poor and she died at home suffering for month. I was devastated, affected me for years. Horrible way to die if you don’t have ability to get medical help.

PugMom 11-09-2020 08:49 AM

phillipgiglio 11-09-2020 09:09 AM

I read that he will run until Dec 23rd show. At this time they have not picked a replacement, as of yet.

Gulfcoast 11-09-2020 09:27 AM

He was such a kind, intelligent gentleman. It's amazing that he was able to tape enough shows to get us through this year. 2020 has been rough and I'm sorry to see him go. Rest in peace Alex, you were universally loved and will be truly missed.

RIP Alex Trebec

Jeopardy… A must see from my husband and I. Just about every night. Yes, I know we probably need a life but that and wheel of fortune are just fun to watch.

billthecpa 11-09-2020 10:38 AM

They do not tape shows a year ahead. I had the pleasure of being in the studio audience a few years ago. They tape 5 shows a day, two days a week ...... for a couple of months. That's as far ahead as they go. This morning's newspaper says that they will continue to show pre-recorded shows until December 25th.
God rest his soul. He was a good man and respected philanthropist.

He was Canada’s gift to the world

Parnell 11-09-2020 11:12 AM

I agree. Ken Jennings is already on the Jeopardy production staff and has his own quiz show in a small city -just for practice.

mbmalley41 11-09-2020 11:20 AM

Alex and Jeopardy, shall never forget greatest addition to ones life.

Dgodin 11-09-2020 11:20 AM

He will be missed as a host who made sure the players remained the focus of the show rather than himself, and the dignified manner in which he handled his illness.

I hope they choose his successor carefully and find another person of quality to host the show.
