Pick-up on multimodal

I was on multimodal in my cart crossing over at the Colony light when I saw a pick-up truck turn onto the multimodal. A cart behind him beeped, I beeped but he kept going and actually went thru the tunnel, came out the other side and turned left (still on the multimodal) toward Walmart. No one was coming thru the tunnel from the other direction. There would nit have been room for two. Looked like a contractor vehicle more than a personal vehicle. Downright scary....

might be installing the new LED's

Probably didn’t want to wait at stop light 30 plus deep? Pickup trucks, rednecks , and guns. Not good combination to blow horn at.:):icon_wink:

Kenswing 11-11-2020 05:23 PM

We were parked at Lake Sumter Landing and someone put a nice big dent in our rental car's door. No note of course..

I wanted to think that maybe that was the case but he did go thru the tunnel and turn left out of it. Plus, he would have or should have had someone watching or blocking the path and/or tunnel. Not to mention, during a busy time of the day. I didn’t see him but he had a logo of some sort on the door of his truck. Wish the guy who followed him beeping was on this site to find out what the heck he was thinking since he followed him. I should have followed the guy following the guy!

A serious question, exactly what is a "redneck" ? No smarty replies please, would really like to know the definition, I assume it is not a racial slur ? But perhaps it is ? Do all/most countries use this (like in England, Australia, etc.) ? Is it meant to be derogatory ? Why ? How would one know if a truck driver just was not familiar with the location here ? Does "redneck" mean something similar to illiterate, not able to read signs ? Or does it mean an individual who just ignores signs ? Would like to understand, hear that from time to time in The Villages but not sure exactly what it means.

Carefully. I saw him do it. He must have just fit. It looked to me to be a regular pick-up, not a super big one. Saw him go thru, stop and turn left. I made no judgements such as some have. I didn’t see his face but as I said seemed like a commercial truck of some sort. Confused I would say. Seems to me it would have been evident he was in the wrong place pretty quickly. I expected to see brake lights before the tunnel and maybe back-up lights but nope. I was trying to get my camera ready thinking he would back up. On a lighter note, I love my subject line of multimodal pick-up. I’m sure some opened it thinking something different!

May I ask where you grew up?

sooziesoul 11-12-2020 11:08 AM

Now that the out of staters are here, I park far away and walk to the squares. Most of those people there in the evening are drunk!!

sooziesoul 11-12-2020 11:09 AM

Or drunk!!

I was wondering the same thing, there is no way my truck would fit through a golf cart tunnel?

According to Google “in 1921 up to 20,000 coal miners battled for their right to form a union. The white, black and immigrant miners who came together to fight for better working conditions all wore red bandannas around their necks. This was to identify each other in battle to overturn horrific and unsafe working conditions in the coal mines.” Interesting how a term that was a source of pride for some Coal Miners turned out to be derogatory towards a certain section of white working-class people.
