My car is on the right. Came back from dinner with my friend who is 93, and here’s what I see.

It's a shame you couldn't have that vehicle towed. (I imagine you just wanted to leave)

Bjeanj 11-16-2020 12:51 PM

Oh no. What did you do?

How did that shifter feel as you slid past it to get to the driver's seat? Ouch!

rjm1cc 11-16-2020 01:30 PM

I think I would take the picture to the police station and see if a ticket can be issued.

It is parked illegally and rather irresponsibly.

If we were younger would have taken concrete measures to show them we were not amused.

Bikeracer2009 11-16-2020 02:43 PM

When I was a young man I had a low tolerance for that kind of cr@p. This would've cost them 4 new tires.

Since I'm older and less prone to such actions I would've uncovered my belt buckle and slide down the side of the car to squeeze into my car. Obviously not able to get my door open I would only attempt this maneuver a half dozen times.

Number 10 GI 11-16-2020 05:51 PM

I would have called the police and let them call for a tow truck. I think I could crawl over the console and get into the driver seat but there is no way my wife could.

I agree, share it with the cops.

Perhaps we are all coming to the wrong conclusion? Clearly the car on the right is in a handicap parking space. Is that car parked legally? Does it have a handicap plate or placard on display? If not, perhaps the Chevy driver has a placard and sees that the handicap spot was being used by someone who does not have the proper credentials. Sooooo then the handicapped Chevy driver did the best he could squeezing into the spot that should have been available? If this is the case, he/she did a pretty good job.... Just sayin'

Two wrongs don't make a right. My assumption is the OP has a handicap permit or he/she's not all there posting a photo that would incriminate him/her.

Taltarzac725 11-16-2020 09:55 PM

OP says his or her car is on the right. That is the one that is not shockingly parked. And the one on the left shows the license plate.

DeanFL 11-16-2020 10:25 PM

.
.
my mind races when I see stupid (I'm being very kind and non-vulgar) things like this.
First - I would have placed the 93 YO in the pass seat of my car then - go to establishments near the parking and try to have them announce to find the owner. If they were able to in a reasonable amount of time - like 5 minutes, I would have personally SO chewed them out. Picture of car/plate for evidence.
Second - if I had to go thru the pass door and over the console etc etc, I must say...there may be some minor damage to the body of that car on the left. No excuse for that type of ridiculous park job. period. Idiotic.

Am unsure but, the parking lot of a restaurant is private property and Law Enforcement will be unable to take any actions. These type of douchebags are almost begging for their car to be keyed. :(

Hiltongrizz11 11-17-2020 05:56 AM

And who pays for that? They ain't gonna tow unless the property owner calls and pays

Hiltongrizz11 11-17-2020 05:58 AM

Brilliant. We know it's illegally parked

Hiltongrizz11 11-17-2020 06:01 AM

Lol that is NO excuse even if it is true.
Wow

when a person is at their angriest is when the virtue of patience is most needed.
Maybe the driver had some sort of personal emergency.

I’m a little confused. Are you saying a handicap driver can park illegally?

You were parked legally in a handicapped space. This "person" who shall be referred as such for lack of a much worse word, should have been reported to the police. Your right was trampled on and you let yourself get Bullied. Sorry you had to go through that. At least the auto tag is very visible and I hope he or she visit this site and realize how inconsiderate he or she was.

If they are a big enough scumbag to park like that then they aren’t going to care what some random people on the internet think about them.

noslices1 11-17-2020 07:27 AM

Time to call a tow truck and show this entitled (B- word) that it’s not nice to be a jerk.

Sounds like you might have been driving the car on the left. Police should have been called.

I would have called the police to say I can get in my car because the other is parked illegally. Even if they can’t tow it, the driver could be given a ticket. Parking car or cart in the striped area of a handicapped spot is pretty low. The reason for this striped area is to get a wheelchair out of a van using that handicapped space. How inconsiderate. If you’ve ever needed that spot for someone you too would be frustrated. I just don’t get it.

No. Tickets arent issued when you bring a picture in. This isnt odd. People do it all the time. Prob an elderly person who thought it was a spot. No big deal.

This is over the top! This car is entirely to close and appears to be deliberately parked like this with intention. The car is parked very carefully as close as possible, and not just (a swing in here) scenario. Maybe in the recent past and without knowing, you angered this person and this action is payback. Some folks will lay on a horn or make a finger signal but perhaps the driver is purposely doing this to pay you back. That person could have been observing you as you returned to your car, I certainly hope the driver is a goober, lacking parking skills and had no evil intentions. Would calling the police or tow truck angered the guilty even more? However, the way people drive, nothing should surprise us. It is crazy! Just another view

Jensor17 11-17-2020 08:02 AM

I had same sort of incident at almost totally vacant parking lot outside of pool at Rec center. Golf cart pulled so close to my vehicle I had less than 10” to get into driver seat. I am disabled. My car had handicapped tag + H/C hangplacard. A slim person came along and very kindly offered to get in driver seat & back the car out for me to get in.

The owners pays to get they’re car back form the impound lot. When police have vehicles towed they don’t pay for it, the owners do when they pickup car, if they don’t pay they loose there car and there are additional charges for storage, so it added up pretty quick, why you see tow companies with lot full of junk cars. Yes, call the sheriffs. Once they call for tow even it owner shows up they pay plus ticket.
