Lock or Unlock
Tonight leaving a restaurant I went to get in car ( a line of white compact SUV) I have keyless entrance to unlock my car, I just have to put my hand through the door handle, so put my hand through and open the door...to my surprise it was not my car....š¤£šš¤£š I was taken back because the door open. This made me think why would anyone leave their car unlock. I felt awful that I open up someone else vehicle. I didnāt touch anything I promise. This made me think why would anyone leave their car unlocked? FYI my house and car are lock 24/7. Do you you leave your car unlock when you go places?
|
I don't, but I know a lot of people who leave their cars and houses unlocked.
|
I'm from New York. Don't ever leave my car unlocked when not in the garage. I never leave my front door unlocked unless the door is open for fresh air.
|
You shouldn't be surprised...in this day of "the sky is falling" there are still some people of faith(naivety)and don't worry about thieves as much as some folks do.
|
I've mistakenly locked my husband out many times, lol! I lock everything!
|
Locks only stop honest people. But I do lock up my car and house!
|
When you canāt fine your keys youāll be gland you didnāt lock your doors.
LOL! |

I always lock my car and in any kind of urban area I make sure nothing is in it , just leaving change in it can cause your window to be broken. I do leave the homes Iāve lived in unlocked ( not condos ) some of this comes from living a large portion of my life in dangerous places , it gives me comfort to be living in safe place, but also because if they break a slider or door and it rains a lot and ruins my floors the damage is worth more then they can steal . Iām wearing my jewelry my watch and diamond

Never. This is not Mayberry...

People make mistakes or forget just like you did!

Unlocked cars and houses make thieves out of honest people

Those that leave everything unlocked come from small towns where that is a standard practice. Where I grew up some even left the keys in the car. Houses and cars were never locked. I spent my life in cities and everything is always locked. My front door is open all the time when I am home because I have 2 guard dogs who like to watch outside. No one gets in my house when I am home. Cars always locked.
|
I usually do not lock my car because I do not keep anything of value in it. I had my car vandalized once and they broke a window to get in. Having a window replaced is a pain. I leave it unlocked, they check out the contents and leave.

Whatever direction that insult was leading...

Maybe the simple answer is that the driver forgot to lock the car. I know I have. I just chalk it up to a "senior moment". I have even left the car running, unlocked and had dinner? That was embarrassing and could have resulted in a stolen car. This was in Arizona.

we always lock both house and car....once you get into the habit it feels unnatural not to

My Driver Information Center menu has a setting to allow the car to lock itself when you exit with the fob and the horn beeps once. Leave the fob in the car and exit, the horn beeps twice to remind you. It has other programable settings to operate as you choose with setting info in the owner's manual. My car is always locked, even in my garage - wouldn't have it any other way.

I had an older vehicle and never left any valuables inside so never locked the doors. Low and behold one morning I come out and find the passenger window shattered. Someone attempted to steal the radio and never tried the door handle first.

This is Florida
not a small hick town , not a 40 acre spread.. We have lying dishonest people all over and not just neighbors ! just this week we had people opening cars and walking into garages stealing stuff. Why can't you take a minute to lock up .????
|
I very seldom leave my house unlocked when I am away; however, I frequently leave my autos unlocked. Nothing of value is in vehicles and the chances of it's being ripped off are small due to the digital nature of the ignition.

So you take the registration

Many of the people in the Villages come from a part of the country where it is not necessary to lock everything up. I lived in Maine for several years and people never locked their house or car. I find it sad that some people have not experienced a peaceful crime free life.

I was at the Chinese Rest. in Colony a few weeks ago, I came out, got in my car only to realize that the seat was too far back. Then I realized it was not my car. Same make, same color, but not mine. Mine was next to the one I got in, and I waited until the person came out of the restaurant and told her. She forgot to lock it. Shame on her, and stupid me. Senior moment, but I could have been a bad guy. Lock it and don't leave anything valuable on the seats or showing.

Just a thought ... Don't your cars have remote access to your garage? If your car is unlocked someone could enter your garage and possibly your home.

Yes

If you yourself are free and innocent then ever lock anything away.
I have lived with open doors and windows for 80 years. |
Growing up in the country, not only did we never lock the house or cars, we used to leave the keys in the ignition. Moved away and not so much anymore.
