Gently Used Furniture

Going to furnish an empty, recently purchased house. Would like to not break the bank furnishing it. Have heard of a couple of consignment stores near The Villages. Any thoughts, experiences making purchases there. Good prices? Good inventory? Delivery?

retiredguy123 11-25-2020 05:58 PM

Bargains and Treasures in Oxford near Rt 466 is a good place. Some people like Almost Perfect, but I think it is overpriced.

Mrprez 11-25-2020 06:01 PM

Try Furniture Barn Consignment in Fruitland Park. If you want good furniture in good condition.

It is but they negotiate.

Have heard that Carriage House in Ocala has good used furniture. However, some new furniture is low priced so wouldn't rule that out entirely. Babette's has a sister store next to the main store in Leesburg that sells attractive furniture at a lower price. Can't think of the name right now.

We have purchased several items at Almost Perfect. Thought pricing was rather good but when I did try to negotiate they had no interest in doing so.

As a matter of fact a lot of what they offer is new.

It is hit or miss depending on their daily changing inventory, but we got some great deals from Almost Perfect Furniture. They have a couple of very large warehouses full of stuff, and the prices are very reasonable. Fortunately, we own a pick-up truck so we did not have to pay any type of delivery fee. If you are looking for everything to match, forget about it. But if you want some great deals, check them out. Our dinning table and chairs are a Broyhill set that you could not tell was not brand new, and we paid about 1/4 or the price if we bought it new. It is one of the nicest pieces of furniture we own in both our Villages and Northern Home. We also got a very nice coffee table, an entertainment center type set-up for our TV, and some end tables. Good luck furnishing your new home. Our advice would be, don't be in a big hurry to furnish everything right away. If you take your time you will find some great deals and save lots of $$. Before you know it, you will have more stuff in your home than you know what to do with. Go slow and enjoy : )

Check out the talk of the villages and next door for used furniture! Great deals. Also estate sales and garage sales check the villages daily sun paper.

I have a lovely (never used) white bedroom set with twin beds, dresser and nightstand. Linens included. PM me if interested.

Tommyc6 11-26-2020 06:19 AM

Try Payne’s furniture outlet on 441 in Summerfield

airdale2 11-26-2020 06:20 AM

Almost Perfect is over priced and the place smells musty

Up North 11-26-2020 06:21 AM

I've found some very nice things at estate sales, for some great deals. Check out estatesales.net to be notified of those here in The Villages.

Bargains & Blessings 301 N. Main Street (US 301) in Wildwood. Good Inventory, fairly priced, has delivery and all proceeds go back into helping those less fortunate.

65Proff 11-26-2020 06:40 AM

Try Habitat stores, I found more reasonable than the others.

I went through all of their warehouses three weeks ago, and nothing smelled AT ALL musty. I bought a beautiful new chair and ottoman and two lovely wrought-iron lamps for $40 each. Naturally, new pieces may sell for more than old pieces, and the more perfect sell for more than the almost perfect, but there are always good buys. It’s not a junk store. It’s not furniture picked up from beside the road or left behind by renters in mobile homes. They only sell good stuff. I’ve also been to the Treasures store a couple times and also found some very good deals. I like both stores.

westernrider75 11-26-2020 06:43 AM

We just did the same thing and did not find anything used that we liked except some bedside tables and a few decorating items. Furniture was old and “northern” looking.

Copaleski 11-26-2020 06:49 AM

Carriage Trade is one of my favorite, and they will negotiate with owners of consignment pieces if the piece has been in the store for at least 30 days.

detown 11-26-2020 06:58 AM

Furniture

What are you looking for? My friend is selling all furniture in her home now as she is selling her house. Reeling sofa, queen bedroom set, computer desk, bar stools and more. I am selling my house in the spring and have lots of things to sell also. Let me know if you are interested. Be safe

detown 11-26-2020 07:00 AM

My friend is selling all in her house, nice things cheap

Rsenholzi 11-26-2020 07:21 AM

Furniture barn in Leesburg carries high end like Ethan Allen and is good and Bargains and Treasures near Walmart on 466 is also good. There are a few smaller places that you can sometimes pick up some also like Our Mother’s Attic and 3 more smaller places near there. Kent furniture in Belleview sells only new but is quite reasonable . Got a new couch and hand painted tv stand ( only paid $100) and people comment on it all the time. I paid so much less for this couch than I did for my living room couch and it is very comfortable . Has a back room to buy reduced furniture too

Jo-Ski 11-26-2020 07:23 AM

See Facebook Market Place. It’s a great place to shop and sell. Lots of furniture, with pictures. I just listed a glass top table 43” octagonal with 4 swivel chairs with arms on for $185.

Janhug123 11-26-2020 07:24 AM

Bargains and Blessings on 301 in Wildwood. Inventory changes daily...

JudyLife 11-26-2020 07:46 AM

I used Almost Perfect 8n july 2019 to part furnish our villa. Great selection, I was happy with the prices I paid & they deliver. Staff were very helpful. Have also bought a few decorative bits from Bargains & Treasures. Also Furniture Barn in Fruitland Park.

Mfrench 11-26-2020 07:51 AM

Gently used queen sized sofa bed

I was ready to call Bargains and Treasures to sell my sofa bed, but if you would be interested in seeing a picture of it I would be happy to send it to you.

Mosells 11-26-2020 07:58 AM

I find all used stuff from cars to furniture and sports equipment in over priced in or near the Villages compared to back home. In the the villages you’re a captive audience.

John H. Leavitt 11-26-2020 08:00 AM

I just moved here and have some stuff for sale. Furniture paintings knicknacks, etc. John at 9737692674

Pedrocarrasco01@yahoo.com 11-26-2020 08:00 AM

We have purchased furniture from Bargains and Treasures in Oxford, great, we also put furniture in consignment with them, they are honest and great, yes some of the other stores are too high, close to the cost of new. There is a store on 441close to Del Webb Spruce Creek Country Club called Payne’s furniture, they deal with Florida furniture makers and will get you fixed up at a great price all brand new, for bedding I highly recommend the Markets of Marion, I got a quality King and Queen Bed there for less than a Queen set at a local store, see either Mike or Scott there tell them that Pedro sent you. If you are looking for an electric recliner Badcocks in Belleview, that is where I found mine for 1/2 the cost of other recliners. Happy Thanksgiving and HAPPY HUNTING!!!!!!!

Hdljet 11-26-2020 08:02 AM

We sold our home in the villages and have a complete household of lightly used new furniture. I will contact local consignment stores on Monday and provide them information on the items.

akerwin1909 11-26-2020 08:03 AM

I recently went to Almost Perfect Furniture and found many good items BUT,
City Furniture is very reasonable, good quality and new! IMO much better. I wish I had gone there when I first arrived.

J1ceasar 11-26-2020 08:29 AM

We did the same thing 2 years ago. Bargains and Treasures seems to be the best. Not sure about delivery as we always moved our own. You .ay also want to check out Big Lots. They actually have some very serviceable furniture at reasonable prices.

can you tell me if fb marketplace is a trustworthy site to do business on? i havent used it for fear of hacking. fb is good for that

Lmartin813 11-26-2020 08:35 AM

I think the “Next Door” website is a great place to buy and sell used furniture. Many people come to the Villages with too much “stuff”. I have heard that people who can’t sell their furniture on their own by using Next Door, use consignment shops as a last resort.

We found Almost Perfect pricing to be almost like new furniture pricing. We have purchased many items from Bargains and Treasures. We really lucked out when furnishing our villa 2 years ago. We found a power/recliner love seat, end tables, coffee tables and quite a few other items at great prices. The recliner love seat was such a bargain I sat on it while my wife went to find a sales clerk and said we want this one. We go back there from time to time but have not had the kind of luck we did first time around. We've also a couple of pieces of furniture thru them and were happy the price they got for us.

airstreamingypsy 11-26-2020 09:10 AM

I agree, Bargains and Blessings and also Mother's Attic right down the street south of Bargains and Blessings.

newgirl 11-26-2020 09:12 AM

I furnished my entire house going to estate sales and resale shops.

Duce920 11-26-2020 09:18 AM
