Just bought a house in The Villages and looking for reasonable home owner insurance company. Any suggestions?

The best paper offered is by Chubb.
Not cheap.....great coverage. |
Shop around. Insurance rates are a moving target. I have had Progressive, which has been reasonable for 5 years.
|
Be sure to see what types of sink hole coverages (catastrophic and non catastrophic) the companies offer.
|
All policies in Florida must include "catastrophic ground collapse" coverage. The "sinkhole" coverage is optional.

What does reasonable mean?

I picked ASI now owned by Progressive sold through AAA after researching the state complaint database. They had almost none so I went with them. Only modest price increases since I had them. |
Insurance
Hands down, Farmers of Leesburg, FL (352) 272-1508

If you have AAA, check with them. We bundled home & auto & saved quite a bit

Don’t let any agent sell you American Integrity insurance. Be aware that once your roof is 15 years old it is difficult to change insurance companies without having to buy a roof first.

I used Liberty Mutual for years and wondered why the price kept goin up (obviously to pay for all their ads). Went to Villages Insurance...switched to Travelers and save more than 1K per year. I have had Foremost Ins for my two golf carts and switched to Progressive through The Villages Insurance and am paying less than half for the same coverage!

we switched to Triple A a couple of years ago and saved a bundle over what State Farm was charging for the same coverage

Home Ins.

AAA rated, bee. In FL. 50 years. Paid $270.000 for new home in Villages paying $550.00 a year for homeowners insurance. |
State Farm

I've been using Travelers for a number of years for home and car insurance. Their bundled discount is pretty good.
|
The Villages insurance was half of state farm and farmers quote for our home. Shop around

If you are going to recommend an insurance agentMay I suggest you give some reasons why.
|
I agree Tower Hill is great. We insured five homes in florida with them which included seven hirricans and three roofs, never did we have an increase beacuse of claims.

I don't think it is worth joining AAA just for the insurance. |

How about American Integrity, anyone using them? I'm having a claim with them now.

I dropped AI (American Integrity) two years ago because in the seven years I had them they raised my premiums five times. I started in 2011 with a CYV paying $505. By 2018 I received a bill for $985, that was a $100 more than 2017. When I looked, they had done five times. I called AAA to see about bundling with my car, they were only $20 cheaper than AI. Then I called Villages Insurance who was my agent. We talked about ASI (Progressive) but they would not include sink hole. She mentioned Coastal Insurance as one a lot of customers had been switching to. I got it for $575, over a $400 savings and with even better coverage, 10% deductible on sink hole vs 15% with AI. So I switched, year two last July it went up slightly to $615, a $40 increase but I could live with for now. |

Are the rates for ASI/Progressive different if you sign up through AAA rather than going directly to Progressive? Are there any advantages of using AAA as a broker?
