Expanded Garage
What is the difference between an "expanded" garage, and the regular 2-car garage?

I think they use "expanded" for anything that doesn't fit into their defined configurations. Two car. Two car + golf cart. Three car..etc... Basically anything that has been stretched. |

There is no standard expansion.
The standard two car TV garage is so tiny it is difficult to park two cars and get the car doors open. Usually the expansion is two feet (or more) across the width of the front. |

We had a "1 1/2 car" garage and had it "expended" x 4ft after we moved in. Would have preferred a GC garage but there was no room with the setbacks. and the 4ft just made it with about 12" to spare That was the only one thing I disliked about the place we bought. Now we can open the doors on the golf cart and the car. My suggestion to anyone who buys a 2/2 find one if it exists with a 2-car garage! My only wish now would be that the air cond wasn't there.

One is expanded.

Our unit is stretched 2 feet both ways. Wouldn't buy a 1.5 garage..

Expanded garage
Unfortunately we have only a one car garage but may be room to add a golf cart garage to side. The air conditioning unit is on that side. Driveway is plenty wide to accommodate a golf cart garage. what would something like that cost and can anyone recommend someone to do the construction? I’m wondering if it’s worth the cost, the hassle and anticipated issues when doing construction.

When I bought my home they called my 2-car garage a "stretch garage". I told them it was a stretch to call that a 2-car garage.

Regular Expanded :popcorn::boxing2: |
I have one. It is a two car garage that has been expanded in order to allow a golf cart to fit in the garage along with two cars. It is a tight fit, but it works.

We had our garage expanded 4 feet deeper when we built. We have room for 2 cars...and then park our golf carts behind the cars. It was a no brainer. At the time they wanted about $4500 for the cart addition plus we would have had to get a premium lot which was 5 feet wider. Again...we stretched the garage deeper..and it cost $1500...and we have room for both our carts and actually got a better roof line out of the deal.

Think of an expanded garage as a garage and a half. You can fit a golf cart and a car but it’s a tight squeeze. If you have a big SUV most people leave them in the driveway

Adding golf cart garage
We have a one car garage but very wide driveway. May have enough room for golf cart garage addition. Anyone do this! Cost? Recommendations for contractors. Do not want my first nightmare. Thanks

A great simple answer
When we bought our TV the salesman said no one ever thinks they want a smaller one-go up one size from what you think you want.
We all have limited storage. I miss our former basement but here it would be an unwanted indoor swimming pool. We have a two car garage and a golf cart garage. All labeled. The reality. We have storage shelves in the garage. The two car garage has our car and our golf cart and my shop is in the golf cart garage. I've seen others doing the same thing. The balance is VALUE. The cost of what you want as well as need vs want. |

have them build a garage for you and then find you are in violation of a neighbors rights and you will be forced to remove it. |
