Curtis Cab (current or previous owners)
I'm going to be in the market for a new golf car soon and was looking for input from current or previous owners of golf cars with the Curtis Cab enclosure. Looking for any positive or negative feedback (from owners only). For instance, from looking at them I wonder if they'd be too hot in the warmer months? Do the doors rattle a lot when your driving with them open? Any and all comments would be appreciated.

Love mine 5 years now would never go back to zippers and canvas

Great in the colder months especially when windy. No problem in summer , just keep the doors open. Rain... no problem jump in and close the doors. Ours is older and there is some rattle but worth it. looked at the newer ones , better doors tighter all around. I would always have one cart with a Curtis.

Have had one for about 6 years, totally love it! When doors are open you can bungee chord them so they don't swing out while going around corners. You do have to push door out and then open or close, need just a tiny bit of muscle to do that!

Curtis Cab feedback

There are other types of hard side enclosures out there but these are the only ones I have owned and I prefer both over the original fabric/plastic enclosure. I would suggest, if you can, test driving carts with the different types to see how they function and which you prefer. Good luck. |
We have had both Curtis Cab and Sleekline enclosures on carts.
The Curtis cab seems a little more solid. The doors opening by pushing out can be a problem if someone parks close to you. (This was on an electric Club Car) We now have a Sleekline on an electric cart, EZGO. We added a under dash fan to keep air circulating. We had some problems with water leaking and they (The Villages Golf Carts and Sleekline) were very good about coming up with a solution. (Part of the problem was the way the roofline on the EZGO aligns with the Sleekline sides, the roof does not have overhang similar to the Yamaha carts.) |
Love mine and would never use the zippered enclosures again. Like said above, easy to close in the rain or cold and easy to ride open when warm.

Here's a letter dated Dec 5th in the Villages News online:
To the Editor: Be careful of the Curtis cab on golf carts purchased at The Villages Golf Cars. I bought a new one April 2019 to place over a $15,000 Yamaha gas-powered golf cart. Trouble with noise from Curtis cab from Day 1. Took it back at least four times. Last time they put on Velcro with no positive result. Have sent emails and letters to higher ups. No response. This is the Curtis that doors do not swing out, just close. I have purchased four carts from The Villages. Never again. Jack Huston Village of Glenbrook That could be a one time bad unit, but it doesn't speak well of the TV Golf Cars as far as customer service. Many people on older threads have said they got their Curtis Cab from Carts & Clubs in Ocala and were very happy with the product. Hopefully you saw the ad in the Daily Sun the special advertisement section I believe it was on Monday. Curtis Cabs are on sale for $2499, the Curtis website lists the price at $3407, so that's a good deal. It said to call (352) 552-5662 |
Love my Curtis cab. Bought my 2020 cart with Curtis cab in May and have had no problems with heat all Summer. Went out today with cold weather and I was very comfortable. I don’t like the blind spot created with the Curtis cab but I got used to it.

We have it, love it, no problem with cold, rain and fine in the heat.

I've had both the slimline on a 2016 Yamaha and now a Curtis Cab on a 2019 Yamaha. I liked the Slimline but I love the curtis cab enclosure. It is the newer style that slides flat along the cab wall. The thing I didn't like about the other curtis cab style is they swung out and away in order to open them. The newer style slides flat along the cab body and it doesn't rattle like the old style did. The slimline is a cheaper enclosure, not at tight as the curtis cab, and rattles a lot. The curtis cab has automotive style gaskets that seal out air and keep it quiet. The curtis cab also has locks on the doors so you can feel some measure of safety when you leave the cart. It is not hot in the summer any more than an open cart. FYI I installed after market fans in my cart which also helps greatly. I use them in the winter too to circulate heat from my Mr. Heater unit. The best part of the cab enclosure is you can quickly adapt to whatever weather comes along. I would NEVER go back to a canvas enclosure.

there just like cars, they all have there own problems,,use them for golf !!!

I have had 2. I find them to be noisy but my wife likes them to protect her hair doo. IMO they increase the cart noise by enclosing it as well as adding some rattling sounds.

I too have a golf cart heater and am curious as to what fan you purchased and how you installed it?

I agree about the Curtis cab being great in bad weather. I love the convenience.

MEE Cab

Before you buy, look at the MEE Cab with sliding doors. We had a Curtis Cab previously and the push out doors should be bungeed to the sweater basket to keep them from rattling. The new Curtis has sliding doors. The MEE Cab is great, less expensive, more visibility and does not add any extra width to the cart.
|
We have the old style Curtis Cab where the doors swing out. The cart is 10 years old and I had the door assemblies (pistons and rods) replaced this year. Works great and very tight again, cost about $400 but compared to prices for the new Curtis sliding doors, I'll take it! That is the question you must ask, do you want convenience in summer for rain and winter for cold. We love our closed cab and would not buy an open one. Many of our friends bought open carts only to re-purchase a closed cart. It is not hot in the summer! But, it is a lot warmer in the winter. My two cents.

Love Mine!
Going on year 2 with my Curtis cab. I have the Curtis II sliding doors, not the Curtis I swing-out doors, on my Yamaha Quiet-Tech gas cart. I had a slight rattle when the doors were closed but the dealer fixed it quickly. They are much warmer and quieter in the cold months than canvas sides. In the warm months they are great with the doors open. When open they do not rattle.
The only recommendation I would make is to have the external rear view mirrors moved down to prevent the blind spot created by the mirror/enclosure wall. When going around a left corner, I have to look under the mirror to check for oncoming traffic. But I’ve gotten pretty good at this now, lol.:icon_wink: |
I prefer my car when it is nasty weather. It seals well and has a heater with fan.
Cart is preferred anytime weather is decent. No need for any of the different type cart enclosures then. |

who did the work ? |

Benefits: Quick and easy to open and close doors. No rattles. Don't have to try to see through crinkly plastic enclosure. Minor issues: These do allow in some air unlike zippered enclosures, so just a little more drafty in the winter. Shape of door tends to block mirrors. I had my mirrors remounted. Too close parkers for the swing out doors. Happened to me this week. |

I've been interested in the Curtis Cab also. Tired the number in that add, seems a bit suspicious but.... you never know ! There was no business name, no greeting, and no one EVER seems to "be there". In four attempts I got a male voice that did not give any identification (Hi, this is Jim's cart service, or similar) at all, and simply said leave name and number and I'll get in touch with you. Didn't even say WHEN, or "soon" or anything. I decided not to pursue that, didn't sound quite right. Have had Carts and Clubs in Ocala recommended by people I actually know, at least 30, 40 times. People seem MUCH happier with them than the ones owned by The Villages ! ? |

I wanted one for the same reason as Greg L's wife. Also I find rolling down and up the vinyl is a pain. Also was told they are noisy from the rattling of the doors. Bought a used gas cart for now and when I move down permanently I do want to look into the curtis cab.

MEE enclosure vs. Curtis Cab
I have had both. Prefer MEE. Carts and Clubs built our cart with the MEE enclosure.
If you go with the Curtis, you need to park where you can swing the doors open. Also, don't try to open while driving. When I did that, the wind knocked the door somewhat out of alighment and it didn't close as tightly as before. |
Love my Curtis cab on an older Yamaha golf cart. Only downside is lower backwards visibility unless you get really good side mirrors.
