Can I remove my queen palms without permission ?
I need a reliable landscaper to remove two queen palms. Someone insured and careful. Anyone with a good experience ? Please give me their information. Thanks.

I had E.V. & Sons landscaping take out a palm tree that was too close to the house.
Good service and a fair price. I'd read that palm trees are grasses, not trees, so you can do what you wish, but you might tip off the ARC in advance. Earth Connection >> Blog Archive >> Palm Trees–Not Trees After All! |
:) Call Community Standards and ask over the phone......
VCDD Community Standards Phone: 352-751-3912 I've heard palms are considered a grass and permission is not needed...... but I would call. :icon_wink: |
Tree Frog for removal, and they can also take care of any concerns about permission, however palm "trees" are actually considered to be a Grass and not subject to the 4 inch canopy tree rule.

Queens do not require any approval to remove.

Our bestest Palm Tree got Zapped by Lightning. Try as we might to save it in the end it didn't work out. I called up and found out no permission was needed. One thing we all should learn from being on TOTV'S, just call as a precaution on all issues. It's worth it to dig for the phone number but someone on here will always help you out. The number in Post #3 given by CWGUY is the one I used. I recorded them and got a name just in case. Probably illegal to record but better safe than sorry. Good luck. |
Get rid of them.

Ameritree
Ameritree 352-461-4890 did very good work for me. Their labor charge for landscaping was high, I thought, but you get what you pay for. I thought their charge for removing the tree was good, and the work was very good. I do highly recommend them as long as low price is not your main objective.

Had our palm trees removed. Did not need permission. Why? They are grass.

I used Tree Frog to cut down Chinese Elm and plant Crepe Maple. Here's his info https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...ervice-286637/

I’ve had Queen palms removed without prior approval. But don’t ever try to remove an Oak tree! First, they probably won’t give approval unless the tree is sick or dying, reported to them by a reputable tree service, not the homeowner. The fine for doing so is substantial, and you’ll probably be required to replace it with another Oak tree of like size!

Wise Tree Service 352-430-1001 or 352-427-6306
They removed 5 queen palms for me, very good price and very careful and knowable |
U may get rooked
One should always protect the queen palm because rooks are known to steal at knight and pawn it during the day. Hey shouldn’t your king protect the queen ? Ohh u were seen with the Bishop lol. Couldn’t resist

I have been told that palm trees are not considered trees but rather, grass. Therefore you do not need a permit to cut them down.

Skyline Tree Service - Pilo #352.636.9975
We had Pilo (and crew) from Skyline Tree Service remove 8 palms and a few other bushes. His crew also planted 42 hedge type bushes for us. Very reasonable, reliable and came highly recommended by a few neighbors!

vehicles ! Very few resources available to enforce the laws, state has a great deal to do and is just not able to pursue so many law breakers. Think of YOU first, take the time and "aggravation" to do the final step when you decide. |
