Piano bars

Anyone know of any piano bars in the Villages?

Google only listed those in Orlando and a forum search didn’t turn up anything.

Thanks for any input.

Stu from NYC 01-23-2021 12:56 PM

Do this all the time on cruises hoping there is one here.

JSR22 01-23-2021 01:19 PM

I have lived here 8.5 years and I don't know of any piano bars in TV.

Funny you should say that. I’ve had a blast at the sing along piano bars on cruise ships and that’s exactly what inspired me to ask about them here!

Polar Bear 01-23-2021 01:36 PM

Hadn’t really thought of it before, but seems like it would be a no-brainer for TV.

Since we moved here in 2012, we have been suggestung to various restaurants that they consider a piano bar, even if only one night a week. No one has shown any positive inclination to do so. I would think Waterfront, Chop House, and Nancy Lopez would be great choices. But, there is no quiet atmospheric dining anywhere in TV either, and the 2 would seem to go hand in hand.

Not me. Not crazy about the Villages karaoke vibe - in a sterile room with people sitting at desks.

I wonder why that is. There’s power in numbers. If enough of us ask for one, I bet it will happen. The Waterfront Inn would be perfect!

jojo 01-23-2021 05:59 PM

We tend to frequent piano bars on cruise ships. I'd be delighted to see one in The Villages.

Stu from NYC 01-23-2021 07:20 PM

Just before covid shut the world down, one of the clubs we belong to had an evening of dueling pianos,''

Was actually keyboards but still a nice thing to attend.

I vote for it.

villageuser 01-24-2021 06:26 AM

Well, it’s not in the Villages, and not technically a piano bar, but anyone would really enjoy the music, food/drinks and atmosphere of The Keep Downtown, formerly the Ocala Wine Experience, on 1st Avenue. Maybe after Covid, you can hire Uber, or a bunch of friends go up there for a great evening. There are some nice B&B around that area too so you don’t have to drive home afterwards. And, no, i am not affiliated with them. Just really think that place is special.

La lamy 01-24-2021 06:28 AM

Great idea Walrus, sorry it doesn't exist here yet.

GRACEALLEMAN 01-24-2021 06:43 AM

Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing Schroeder playing from peanuts and Snoopy dancing on top would be kind of cool also

mike1946 01-24-2021 06:59 AM

Closest we came I think was Main St. Bistro in SS ...We used to love that place and it was a regular stop on the way home from anywhere else we had been - one chap on an electric keyboard and he sang as well - there was a tiny dance floor and the atmosphere was great ...don't know why it closed ...it was where Ay Jalisco is now.

Now there is a good question. Why is there no quiet atmosphere dining in The Villages?

When in Asheville NC visit the Piano Bar at the Grove Park Inn . You will not be disappointed!

Ricky Dale 01-24-2021 07:49 AM

Try Sip Restaurant & Jazz on Main St Leesburg. Not exactly a piano bar but close.

How about the now defunct Cody’s becoming a romantic piano bar

chris38wise 01-24-2021 08:13 AM

Piano

There is a piano playing at The Oaks on Friday and Sat. evening with dinner. It is very nice. It is a great way to relax and enjoy a great dinner.

redsauce restaurant in LSL would book the Dueling Pianos every few weeks. Not sure they are still doing gigs with the pandemic raging. Contact redsauce's owner to see if he will book them again in the near future. Some clubs have booked them too. Too bad the Rec News stopped publishing future club notices.
Great fun!

Piano bar

Great pianist in restaurant at Continental Country Club on Route 44 on F/S/S.

PJackpot 01-24-2021 09:00 AM

No, but that’s a great idea.

rlcooper70 01-24-2021 09:19 AM

Lovely thought. I fear the piano bar doesn't make enough money to pay the high rent in TV ... so it would have to be outside and I don't know of one. Love the ones on the cruise ships. Wonderful topic. Good feelings.

Foxmd 01-24-2021 10:55 AM

The Rose Plantation

Not exactly a piano bar but this Restaurant has Joe, The Villages piano club president playing on weekend nights.

LaurenBala 01-24-2021 11:14 AM

The Rose Plantation

It's definitely not a bar but The Rose Plantation in Fruitland Park has a live piano player (and he's very good) on Friday and Saturday nights.

Would think that if you add a cover charge and sell food and drink it could work.

I think many here are confusing piano bar with dueling pianos. There is a HUGE difference.

shut the front door 01-24-2021 11:23 AM

If you are looking for an upbeat dueling piano type show, there is a new duo playing at various places around TV. Their website is The Big Bad Live! – Professional Entertainment for Any Event. They are absolutely the best entertainers I have seen here. All request shows. Make sure to bring cash to tip them, you'll want to.
Their schedule is there. They will be at Glenview tomorrow evening 5-8.

ProfessorDave 01-24-2021 11:25 AM

The Piano bar at Rose Plantation is first class!!!! Only certain nights - think it is Friday and Saturday - but check!

crydzanich 01-24-2021 11:30 AM

Garvino’s in Sumter Landing is a wine bar but they do have music. Not sure if piano or not.

dhsmith 01-24-2021 11:35 AM

Anybody ever heard Perry Grant on one of their cruises signing and playing the piano? He would be great here in the Villages.

rmd2 01-24-2021 11:53 AM

A piano bar. People packed together, singing away. ;) coronavirus anyone?

LiverpoolWalrus 01-24-2021 12:39 PM

Point taken. I’m asking for when the virus passes. Or an outdoor piano bar.

LiverpoolWalrus 01-24-2021 12:45 PM

As long as these pianists don’t play Piano Man, I’m game.

On cruises, I used to always chat with the pianists about repertoire. Every one of them would complain Piano Man was requested three times a night on average. Don’t Stop Believing was second most requested. Then Sweet Caroline (of course) and Benny and the Jets.

Nursecasemanager 01-24-2021 01:09 PM

Red sauce restaurant in Lake Sumter used to have dual piano players. I’m not sure since Covid arrived.

Not the right time for this but virus will go away one of these days

These songs work so well in a piano bar that the player has to suck it up and play them or on a ship will be a very quiet room.

Good ones will change some of the words especially late at night

Very quiet room? After those four are out of the way is when the good stuff is played. Well, except for New York New York.
