Who got their second shot and how did it affect you if at all?

For those getting their 2nd shot gather up the ibuprofen just in case! Got my 2nd around 10AM :a040: .Took about 7hrs and WHAM my head feels like it is going to explode! "They say" you usually get hit around 24hrs if you are going to have side effects so I was caught by surprise since I rarely ever get a headache. Wife has nothing (yet). Had ZERO side effects with first one.

That being said, if this is (hopefully) as bad as it gets it is worth every second of the inconvenience !

DO NOT TAKE PAIN MEDS BEFORE YOUR SHOT!

EDIT for datapoint: It was Moderna and I was fine by bedtime and fine this morning.

Bjeanj 02-03-2021 06:42 PM

Good to know. My second shot is next Wednesday.

rjm1cc 02-03-2021 06:49 PM

About 30 hours after 2nd shoot. Just like the first shoot. No problems.

Kenswing 02-03-2021 07:20 PM

My wife had the second shot in the afternoon. Next morning she had pretty bad joint pain and a headache. She said it felt like a bad flu. Later that day she was fine.

tophcfa 02-03-2021 08:33 PM

A good friend who is a health care worker got the second shot (moderna) and she felt like she had the flu and was exhausted for a day and a half. No problems with the first shot, and she now feels fine.

Fredman 02-03-2021 08:36 PM

We got our second shot on Monday and neither of us had any adverse reaction

GOLFER54 02-04-2021 05:41 AM

My wife got the second shot and as soon as she got home she insisted that we get naked and jump in the hot tub.

RaunchyRich 02-04-2021 05:45 AM

Take advantage of your wife not having a headache!

Northerner52 02-04-2021 05:45 AM

Which one? Moderna or Pfizer?

Larry&Mary 02-04-2021 06:02 AM

Thanks, getting ours this Saturday @ Publix. Will be glad to get it and will suffer through any complications.

rlcooper70 02-04-2021 06:13 AM

Moderna has side effects more often than Pfizer. We had none with the latter. Sorry about your headache. NOT supposed to take ibuprofen ..reduces the body's immune response to the vaccine.

rmd2 02-04-2021 06:22 AM

I am having my 2nd shot done on Wednesday but here is what happened on my first shot of Moderna. There was no problem with the vaccine BUT the shot itself was not properly placed and this is what happened to me: the first 24 hours I had extreme pain from my shoulder to my finger tips and that felt that way for the whole 24 hours. This was 4 weeks ago and I still have some pain in the arm when I move it and occasionally there is a nerve in my arm that runs down from the injection site to my hand and when that happens it is extreme pain and fans out into my hand and it feels like an electrical charge. This has gotten better. The person injecting me did not get it in the deltoid muscle but instead hit a nerve. It happens and I have since found evidence of this from medical journals, NIH, CDC and personal accounts but unfortunately didn't know this before my shot. I'm hoping nothing happens with the 2nd shot and I am having it in the other arm.

Debra Freeman 02-04-2021 06:56 AM

I am very interested in the responses Re 1st and 2nd shots. Those responding please tell me if both vaccines were from same company and which company. I think this is an important component to the reactions.

Bob in Fishers 02-04-2021 06:59 AM

Before the shot ok after

This isnt any different than the annual flu shots. Some have a reaction and some dont. I have 7 friends so far who have completed both shots and only one had very mild flu symptoms for less than 24 hrs. No big deal.

bocaabend 02-04-2021 07:10 AM

No side effects for me. Took Advil immediately

Professor 02-04-2021 07:18 AM

My wife and I both got our second shot Monday. Both of us had a slight headache in the afternoon. Late that afternoon and still today we both have a sick feeling inside...not throwing up sick but just a nasty taste in the throat and mouth and most food doesn't seem to sit well. Each day has gotten better, but it disappears slowly.

juscause 02-04-2021 07:18 AM

My arm was slightly sore. No other issues at all. When you get a chance to get this vaccine, go for it!

bjd0105 02-04-2021 07:54 AM

Got both and had no side effects

l2ridehd 02-04-2021 07:57 AM

Wife and I had second shot yesterday, Moderna, and so far nothing but a sore arm for either of us. Now 23 hours and counting. I am surprised by the hot tub answer because same thing happened to us. Very interesting,

So is mine. The second shot is the most important and the one that will produce the most side effects. Most people feel aches and could run a low grade fever for a day or two. I am looking forward to it! 🎉🎉

Bill32 02-04-2021 08:24 AM

would be interesting to know which vaccine with each of the posts...

Guitarman1951 02-04-2021 08:32 AM

Wife had headaches and she and I both have been unusually tired. Going on third day and hoping this fatigue goes away.

Altavia 02-04-2021 08:37 AM

Received the second Pfizer vaccination yesterday. Mild reaction, Fever, aches and pains hit about 2 am, tapered off over 6hrs, feelling OK now.

Clinical Trial Doc advised not to take anything to reduce fever, but to hang in there to get maximum immune response.

ThomasMur 02-04-2021 08:39 AM

2nd shot: Pain or no pain

I flew in from skiing yesterday a day early to get my second Moderna shot (Orlando Health). I arrived there at 6:15PM without an appointment. I asked the valet that since they close at 7:00 could you just keep my car here which they did. I was in and out in 35 minutes and that included a 15 minute required observation seating after the shot.

So far no pain, and as they say: No pain, no gain.

jackiedenny 02-04-2021 08:39 AM

I got low grade fever, massive aching, headache, and sore arm for two days. Husband mild aching and sore arm. After two days I was back to normal so totally worth it.

Two Bills 02-04-2021 08:50 AM

Pfizer. Wife had no recation to either vaccination.
I felt grotty after first for a few days, but no reaction after second.

charlieo1126@gmail.com 02-04-2021 08:52 AM

After first shot no pain (Pfizer) but I was told at VA not to take pain medicine, didn’t need it anyway

debb3c 02-04-2021 08:53 AM

I got my second one Monday of this week, only side effect was sore arm. I suggest drinking lots of water before to prevent a headache

JudyB 02-04-2021 09:05 AM

Got our second shots on Tuesday and still feel queasy and achy. Still better than COVID.

The large group that I am affiliated with, so far online with Pfizer 61% had enough issues to not return to work the following day. So they started staggering healthcare workers first vaccine for that reason. Our children in their thirties and forties, said aches, joint pain, Debilitating headache for the first 2 to 4 days (along with kids in the house) with the fourth day feeling good enough to get up and move around. It was mandatory for their workplace. Two would have opted out if they could.

Moderna is few and far between in the group, but should be posting in a week or two.

. However we are looking at a younger age group, with age roughly between 35 and 55. Those younger are declining vaccine at a higher rate. Most of them were still having extensive flu like symptoms for days later. But it does seem to hit younger Gens harder.

Yes, no ibuprofen BEFORE the vaccine, afterwards was fine. Besides it was 10hrs later.

Right, but I NEVER had a flu shot reaction or any shot reaction ever. Even my Lysol shot gave me no reaction. :D Wait, I did have a reaction after a few shots of brandy. :D.

airstreamingypsy 02-04-2021 09:47 AM

I got second Moderna yesterday, other than a sore arm I feel fine.

Reaction to first shot Moderna

Three weeks ago at GMR got shot. I felt ok but had little itchy spots that I though were bug or spider bites. Put some local bug bite sting ease stuff on and it went away. A few days later, Madeleine came down with some itchy spots and we suspected bug bites. These then starting showing up on most parts of the body especially at the joints of hands, fingers, elbows, heels, knees front and back, ankles, etc. Went to dermatologist. They took biopsy and said it was most likely reaction the vaccine. Erica at Dr Tran had cell phone pictures of examples. We had taken pictures. They looked much the same. She recommended several topicals to put on. Now about week gone by and most of the places seem to have cleared but some are still quite itchy.
The verdict was if the vaccine did that, then it is proof that it is working. We are still going to get out shot 2 when GMR calls for 2nd appointment.

lpkshop 02-04-2021 09:57 AM

I got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. A doozy of a headache and body aches started last night and I am still experiencing them. But it was so worth it

RuthA 02-04-2021 09:59 AM

All this for a virus with a better than 99% recovery rate. Really?

j_vermilya 02-04-2021 10:20 AM

We got our second dose yesterday (Wednesday) My wife has been unable to sleep all night, felt like she had several cups of coffee. My arm is sore enough that it's hard to raise it over my head. No other symptoms, it's not been over 24 hours (Moderna)
