Someone to haul Glass Doors to Land-fill in The Villages.

Bulk Trash does not pick up glass doors. Im being told to bring to Land-fill near Moyer Loop and Pinellas Pl off Morris Blvd. I dont have a way to transport.
Im 15 min away from landfill. Anyone know someone I can hire to haul away? THANKS

Michigan Farmer 02-04-2021 12:25 PM

Well, I have a pickup and would be happy to help. I know where this land fill is but not sure if it's free to residents or if there is a charge. Call me if I can help, no charge.

I was told the same thing by Sumter County (for a mattress that I just didn't want laying in my driveway for a few days). I got there and was told they only take construction debris from paying customers. I ended up taking it to a landfill in Marion County.

In Sumter county there is no charge for furniture, nor appliances. I have called ahead and they scheduled pickup for FREE.

Can I put my bulk items out with my household waste?

I've called Sumter sanitation for bulk pickup before. Had them pickup large tv, box springs and other items.
I was never charged. Last time used was Oct. 2019. Things may have changed??

David0311 02-05-2021 06:39 AM

I have a pickup truck and can help out. Do you still need someone?

Aruca 02-05-2021 07:27 AM

Yes I do. I would be so appreciative

When I had sliding glass doors to get rid of, I called Habitat and they we happy to pick it up.

TandHSTAR@AOL.com 02-05-2021 07:50 AM

Call the trash people they charge I think $10 to pick up large items. You can find the number on your bill that includes amenities, water and trash.

Aruca 02-05-2021 08:04 AM

I did ...unfortunately...They don’t pickup Glass

irishwonone 02-05-2021 08:11 AM

A Habitat store will accept and resell them.

thegfrerers@comcast.net 02-05-2021 08:18 AM

We had to take our cracked pavers to landfill in Panasoffkee. There is a nominal charge

MoNonnon 02-05-2021 08:33 AM

A friend here had glass doors to dispose of. She posted them on the local For Sale page and someone came and picked them up the same day.

A simple solution. If, you want to do it neat buy a glass cutter, an inexpensive tool ?$2.00-$3.00. It is easy an quick to do Or, simply lay the doors on a tarp and hit them with a hammer or whatever. Picked up properly, the tarp will funnel the broken glass into a box.

ellenwelsh 02-05-2021 09:12 AM

It’s Morse Blvd.

askcarl 02-05-2021 09:35 AM

If it's a sliding glass door, it is safety glass. Just like a windshield.

Outdoors: Spread out a bed sheet on ground. Put door on bed sheet. Don covid19 Mask (dust) any pair of eye protection. Hit glass with hammer. Not a hard strike. Remove aluminum frame. Gather up bed sheet. Put sheet and "cubed" pieces of glass in trash bag. Leave at the curb for pick-up.

Done.

I went to Marion and it's a free drop off
