A lot of folks on this site won't deal with Facebook, and your page has a lot of good info. I'll add some info to help out your place.

I might offer a pinky in exchange for a proper Pastrami and Swiss GRILLED - not boiled - on grilled rye bread with a little raw red onion. With a side of slaw and a pickle spear. And maybe some mundane, unseasoned generic crinkle-cut fries, fried super-crispy.

Yuck only mustard with corned beef or pastrami preferable yellow mustard.

My favorite wife puts brown mustard on sandwich that is almost sacrilegious.

Actually that is another no no.

Rueben is made with corned beef and sauerkraut.

Never liked a Rubin. I enjoy just corned beef on Rye with mustard and a pickle (on the side).

MUSTARD is the only condiment that should be allowed on a pastrami or corned beef.

Been meaning to try it, found all others totally unacceptable, I am a fan of the Backstage deli, 2nd Avenue Deli, Roxy’s, Katz’s in Manhattan, most pastrami here is fatty, sliced on a slicer (sacrilege) and totally tasteless, tried Turnpike Mike, was a disappointment, Gio’s Deli, and others, next time that I am in Fruitland Park, will stop by. :boom: :bigbow:

My favorite was the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan. Every time I was in New York on business. I had to have a corn beef on rye. The corn beef was piled about 6” high. That location was closed but they have a Carnegie Deli in Las Vegas. Everything was so good.

Kevin Knussman 02-06-2021 08:32 AM

My wife and I ate there recently. We sat outside and had a wonderful lunch. The owner came out and chatted with us. Definitely will be back as the food was very good.

Wish you were open later in day. Maybe lunch/dinner timeline.

Oh, if you would only offer belly lox for my absolute favorite bagel sandwich! Lox, garlic flavored cream cheese, cucumber and sliced tomato on an “everything” bagel. Mmm good! Nova lox just doesn’t cut it.

I'm sure that is a relic of a picture. I breakfast at NY Deli about 3 times per week. All employees wear a mask.

Almost all patrons wear a mask. Service is timely and cordial. Prices are extremely reasonable. Great variety on menu and in bakery.

There only flaw is not being open on Sundays!!

She put cheese on pastrami once and kicked her out. As a former NYer she knew that was not allowed.

Sad but one must take responsibility for ones actions.

I like belly lox with good ole fashioned Philadelphia cream cheese. On a toasted garlic bagel. With raw red onion and capers.

I'll be picking some up for my parents when I head down for a few days next week. They don't have a Brooklyn Bagels near them and I get reward points :)

Pinball wizard 02-07-2021 10:27 AM

I know where to get Belly Lox!

It's a secret!!!

But maybe I'll tell :icon_wink:

I make a pilgrimage to Jo-Els in St. Pete about once every 3 months. I buy 2 lbs. of belly, sliced thin. I call them a day ahead and they have it ready for me. Then I go two blocks away to Mazzaros for great Italian provisions. Fresh pasta, bread, pastries, especially their rugalah.

Pastrami is known as a Eastern European food created by Jews. In the Jewish religion there's something called kosher. One of the rules of kosher is you simply don't mix meat and dairy products. Therefore a Reuben is not kosher and unthinkable to a Jew. if you want to eat the milk of the mother with the meat of the mother go right ahead
