GMR Site Closed Because of the Weather
Reported this morning for my 2nd vaccine and the site off 466 behind Fresh Market was closed due to weather. The instructions were to come back this afternoon and they might reopen. Anyone know any different?

So, even with the cheap shots directed at them, they seem to be trying..
|
Can someone confirm where and when will 2nd vaccine be scheduled

Had my 2nd shot today at the High School. There were a lot of cars and it took 4 hours of winding our way through a parking lot and down the roads around the school but got it done.
Also received an email saying they’d probably be catching up on Monday for those that missed their vaccine. |
Here is the email text.
The heavy rains are hampering the ability to safely operate the drive thru site today. We have been working directly and collaboratively with the County to identify an alternative site for today, and will complete as many scheduled vaccinations as possible. For any appointments that are not completed today, we will complete later in the week (most likely Monday). Additional details and communication on this alternate site will be provided upon your arrival, as police will direct you to the new location (nearby local school). Emails will be sent regarding any additional information, changes, or schedule updates as they become available. We appreciate your understanding due to the changes associated with the weather. |
When we saw the tents in the field in January, first thought was, a hard rain would make a good mudder course. But not so much for a vaccine site, unless it was a military bug out. Then you would be doing those injections in the back of a moving Jeep

I heard people were sent to the school to gets shots. There was a lot of traffic in front of the school yesterday.

Yesterday, Saturday, they closed the tent area and moved it to the parking lot at the high school from 1 to 6pm. Went smoothly.

Keep in mind that they're doing the best they can. They're trying, but mud is not fun for anyone. Fyi, wife and I registered on 1-11-21, too. Finally got to the tent sites for our first shots -- me on 2-6-21, she on 2-10-21. All went smoothly, in and out in 30 and 40 minutes. The folks there were as nice and as helpful as they can be. Whether delivering or or receiving our shots, we all have to be patient and flexible.

After registering on three different systems in Sumter County signed up in Lake County. Received call in two days and received first shoot in four days at the closed Sears store in Leesburg. Very organized flow. Inside, and it has bathrooms. Chairs in all waiting areas. Received shot from Leesburg EMT. Scheduled for second shot appointment for return. Sumter county needs new management in health department. My wife and I are both 82. Thanks, Lake County!

I agree - putting a vaccination site in an open field with possible downpours was not the best plan. I'm wondering if it will change in the future as rain scheduled all week here off and on - car ruts - haven't heard from the 5 cars that got stuck and had to be towed out. Yes Sumter - re think this. I am so glad I got 2nd shot Thursday and am so appreciative for the hard work the people giving the shots are doing. I'm sure they would have a lot of opinions.

Not so, the line formed all around the school sports complex then down to the high school. We, along with the others had no idea how long the actual line was and where they were doing the vaccinations. Four and half hours later we reached the high school parking lot and the vaccination site. They had cancelled in the am due to the adverse conditions caused by the rain. Then they had to get permission to set up at the high school. Had it rained that location would have been closed. It was a long wait and everyone was surprisingly patient and respectful of the vaccination staff who had been on the feet long over 12 hours by that time. We left the site after a five hour marathon and there were at least another hour of recipients lined up behind us. Hopefully for her second shot next month ,things will be back to normal. |
I, too, had a super good experience with Lake County. They are doing a bang up job on a daily basis. Watching Sumter County flail around week after week is eye opening. Clearly the county leaders have become incompetent, or they were to begin with.

They vaccinated until 9 PM last night. They are really working hard to make it work. The field location was very muddy. Redirected to the High School site. 2 PM appointment took until 6:32 PM to actually get the second shot. Both first and second shots were being given. Those who did not make their appointment received a reschedule date. Monday was mentioned as the reschedule date.
