GMR: signup and shot into
Since GMR is making only limited information available, I’ve started this thread to learn more about when people signed up at GMR and when they received their shots. I signed up 13 January and have heard nothing.
Any responses from those who have received their shots would be helpful. Thanks. Tom C |
My wife had her shot yesterday
As I mentioned in a previous post. We both signed up on Jan 11 and only my wife received an appointment and shot. I have yet to be contacted other than by the email that stated I was "on the list". Supposedly you are in some sort of order so nearly five weeks after signing up I have yet to receive an appointment. Not having any more success the Publix or Walgreens.

I signed up myself and my husband on the 13th. I received a code last night however I already got my first shot Wednesday. My husband has heard nothing. I got my shot through my fl.gov. I signed up with them on February 1. Signed up husband February 8. Nothing yet for him. By the way, I signed him up first on January 13 but I got my code and he did not . Go figure!

1/13, got code today
|
We signed up on 1/13 and after not hearing anything signed up via myvaccine and was given first vaccine 2/11 in Lake County.
Did get the code yesterday, tried to tell them to take us off the list but does not seem to be anyway to do this. |
I had an appointment on February 18th. It said to go to Buffalo Ridge. No one was there and no signs telling me that it was moved. I just reregistered and now I'm at the back of the line.
|
I registered my wife and I on January 15th. Received a phone call last night with a code however, I was driving and didn't have paper or pencil. Was told I'd receive an email with additional information.

signed up 6am 13th January - nothing heard yet
|
I don’t remember when I signed up but I got my email on Feb 19 with appointment options. Just sit tight. The system works. I chose Feb 23.
|
Don't know that this was GMR - they don't call so it was not.

Initially accessed the GMR site 1/13, no appt scheduled, then was told no vaccines available and to be patient.
Kept trying all other sites such as Publix and Winn Dixie but got no where. On 2/17 we got codes to allow appointments to be scheduled and received 1st vaccine yesterday, 2/19, 8am. No FLA residency required, just valid ID. Right before we left our home to receive our vaccines we got email starting the vaccination site had been changed from Buffalo Ridge to opposite direction, in Sumterville. Wonder how many people missed the last minute location change. Thank goodness we read this email! |
I have just got an appointment for next week. Signed up on Jan 11th.

Signed up January 13th. Got our notifications on February 17th. Got our shots yesterday the 19th.
|
Sign up the same week as you with no response since then. Yesterday’s paper stated they are shutting down the Buffalo location and are moving to somewhere in The Leesburg area.
|
I got a "code" on 1/19. Got an appt for 1st vacc on 2/19, have a 2nd appt for #2 3/19. (Moderna vaccine)
The vacc location changed to the Sumter Community College in Sumterville. It was a little muddy. I had 4 wheel drive. No problems with side effects. Communication via text as nd email was perfect. |

Signed up on the 14th of January, just this week received an email stating that the vaccines are in short supply but no worries we are on the waiting list. We each got our own email.
With all the empty retail business in the Villages, it stinks that they have to move to Sumterville The movie theaters have been empty for months, with plenty of room in the lobby and plenty of distance seating in the theater for ur 15 minute post shot wait. Isn’t it amazing how lake county was able to use the Sears store and the VERY wealthy Villages are left holding their butts and scratching their heads. Bet the residents of lake county aren’t trying to get vaccines in the Villages. |
I registered on 1/12/2021 was scheduled yesterday for this Tuesday 2/23. BH
|
Thank you all for your input. We are still waiting but this gives us hope!!
|
We signed up on Jan 11 and heard nothing until Feb 13. We were scheduled and received our vaccines on Feb 16.

I signed up the week of Jan 11 as well. Have heard nothing other than for the email saying I'm still on the list and to be patient. I also signed up on myfl.gov and one other site. Nothing. I registered at Walmart when vaccines became available there, but when I showed up for my appt time, they told me they had nothing in the system for me. Apparently there was a problem with their portal putting appts through. A friend of mine in another state had the same issue with Walmart's system. I'm thinking this is a sign that I shouldn't get this vaccine.........

2 weeks ago, we completed both 1st and 2nd shots administered at the GMR site at original location up north. We applied at the
Safe Restart website on Jan 10. We received an acknowledgement email first that we were registered, and then received a 2nd email confirming 1st and 2nd shot dates. As this was at the very beginning of sign-ups, we got the first appt for the following Tuesday, Jan 12, and 2nd shot appt for Feb 9. The following are the new details for sign-ups and shot location. Note well: if you visit the site today, you will get a pop-up notification of the new location at Lake Sumter College, 1405 County Road 526A Sumterville, FL. 33585 They indicate it's the Moderna vaccine, and confirm you will receive dates for 1st and 2nd shot. GMR may move the site again, so it's wise to check back periodically for updated info. Other counties are using other vaccines, other locations, and different scheduling. Alas, one typo, as the website misspells Sumter, calling it "Sumpter" and "Sumpterville". Sigh... |

Signed up Jan. 11th at 3:45 p.m. got my first shot on Jan. 15th and second shot on Feb. 12th.

At this rate of vaccines in Sumter County it will take 9 weeks to get everyone over 65 their first shot. And that assuming the number of folks leaving Sumter county to get theirs stays the same.
I hope they start sending more vaccines to Sumter as other counties complete their Senior vaccines. And it would be great if they set up a second mass vaccine area that is closer. Maybe some churches could volunteer their parking lots for Mon-Fri. Right now the gap between the percentage of those 65-84 and those over 85 who are getting vaccinated is growing. I’m concerned our older folks will find the drive out to Sumterville is too far, and will not sign up for those vaccines, or won’t head out there for their second shot. Is there an organization that is helping our oldest folks to get vaccines? |
We signed up on Jan 15th. My wife received her code last week and I received mine almost a week later (couple days ago). We sent them notice that we already had our first shot and have a scheduled second shot in a couple weeks.

Both wife and I signed up on the second day of registration, January 12, first thing in the morning. We both received emails when the facility closed, saying we were both on the registration list in the order of our registration and would be contacted when we could make a reservation. My wife received an email about ten days ago. I have heard nothing. We’ve since gotten our Pfizer shots elsewhere. The GMR facility has been so mis-managed I wouldn’t feel confident that if we ever got a shot there that they would still be there or have dosage for a timely second shot.
Despite our governor’s claims, the vaccination program is running MUCH more smoothly in other states and even in other Florida counties. As my doctor in Ocala told me, “You people in The Villages are getting screwed.” |
I signed my folks and husband up just before they ran out of vaccines and shut down at Buffalo Ridge the first time. They emailed all 3 of them Thurs and they got their shots yesterday and this morning. Well run site, very quick in and out. It was also a pleasant ride, not too far past Fenney.
|
I signed up the first night it was available...Sun. Jan.10th at 11pm. My first shot was on Thurs. Jan 14th and my second was onThurs. Feb.11th. I was very lucky as neither appointment was postponed, cancelled or rescheduled. YAY!!
