Maybe expand...............what are you looking for to be defined as good?? :)

Vystar has done a good job for us
|
We use Campus. They are personable, prompt.
I can't speak to loan or savings rates. We use them for those occasions when we need a brick and mortar bank. We once got a cashier's check for an RV, they ensured that we knew this person, it was a gentle screen to keep us from falling victim to an internet scam. While we are not that senile (yet) it was kind that they make an effort to protect their customers. For most of our serious financial transactions I use one of the top ten credit unions. Navy Federal is the largest and frankly they aren't nearly as pleasant as Campus. |
Campus USA has been good to work with.
|
Campus USA had best rates a couple years ago and easy to work with. Have a small loan and no issues.
|
Suncoast CU. 2 locations here. I have financed 3 cars, one home, one home equity. Great rates. Largest in Florida.

Navy Federal CU We use them for most things. Nearest brick & mortar is near Orlando. We do any transactions online. They do checking, savings, auto loans, mortgages, credit cards. Check them out here Become A Member | Navy Federal Credit Union Their membership is open to many not just vets & active duty. They accept family members of any branch, DOD employees, and others.

Vystar. Excellent CD rates and great people.

I would recommend Vystar Credit Union. I have been with them for over 45 years. They started in Jacksonville FL under the name of Jax Navy Federal Credit Union for Navy personnel. Many years ago they changed their name and opened up to the public to help people take advantage of their many great services.

Looked into Vystar (much closer) but, they are NOT a sister credit union to Air Academy so we can't transfer money that way without charges... if at all. Also, Campus USA seems to provide most of the pens used in The Villages! :) Good luck with whatever you chose. |
Credit unions
I would say any credit union here in Florida is better than most of the very big banks. I use one for internet services that is not local and it has never been a problem. I also have one of the biggest regional Banks for several accounts when I need something on a personal level face to face. Please be advised almost every bank today is on an appointment basis unless you're using a drive-thru window
|
Vystar is the one we use. Best CD rates, great customer service.
|
Campus is good.

I have to add another one for Campus USA... Never a problem and always pleasant and speedy to deal with. I go to the location on 44.

They all have good and not so good employees. To me it's more important to have convenient hours and locations rather than some promo interest rate or gimmick.
If a bank is still "closed" due to their Covid policy that means they don't give a dang about you enough to let you access your money on your terms. If McDonald's and other businesses can figure out how to open safely and your own BANK can't, run from them while you can. For me Mid Florida Credit Union was the best choice. When I moved from NY in September I went bank hunting. One day I visited 4 and two weren't even open to talk business and STILL aren't. That was Suntrust and another one I can't remember. Citizens and Mid Florida were open and to me bumps them up as top notch just based on that 😉 |

I’ve stayed with my old Credit Union
I looked for a local credit union when I moved here six years ago, but none could match the overdraft protection of the Credit Union of Denver. If I unknowingly depleted the funds in my checking, they would take money from my money market. If that ran dry, I had a $2,000 signature loan to step in. It’s only happened a few times in the four decades I’ve been doing business there, but it’s comforting to know that it’s there for me.
I frequent the Campus USA at Traverse near Brownwood. They are very nice and helpful. I go there to make deposits and get cash in small bills for tip money. They just laughed when I showed up with a check for $0.01! I talked to them about getting an account there, but they just couldn’t match the protection of my old account. I haven’t needed a loan since moving here, so I just don’t see a reason to open an account here. |
another location is straight south on75 near Costco about an hour drive. but I have used Pentagon Federal CU for new car loan and credit card
|
Mid Florida CU has been very good for me

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. I work for a large regional bank and I'm thinking about opening an account at a local bank just for access to cash if I need it and not having to pay ATM fees. Why not Citizens First? I know, the big bad developer owns them. They have ATM's everywhere in the Villages and you can use the Presto ATM's at Publix supermarkets.
If I were looking for a CD, which I'm not, I'd use either a digital bank or open a Fidelity account with a debit card connected to it. |
Because we still have credit union accounts up north, we needed a local credit union that is a part of the Credit Union Co-Op. The Co-Op is a network of independent credit unions that allow you to access your accounts at other credit unions.
Campus USA is the only local credit union that I found (several years ago) that is a member of the Co-op. We’ve been happy with them. Also, all the ATMs outside the Publix stores are Co-Op so we can use them without fees. |
We use Campus USA...very pleased with it
|
Navy Federal Credit Union is rated #1 and Pentagon Federal Credit is #2.
I'm in both of them. Their service is outstanding. |
Suncoast and Vystar have new locations in this area.

I became a Vystar member in Jacksonville as a Navy man in 1981 when it was called Jax Navy credit union and stayed a member till we moved out of state in 2008. I reopened my account when we moved back in 2019 and they opened the branch in TV. They have always been very easy to work with on all aspects of banking. Loans are very easy with them, especially vehicles. They use a program they call VIP where you are pre-approved to a certain amount and you have a check that you write for the amount of the vehicle at the dealership. I have been very pleased with them.
|
Midflorida is great. New around here but I have had an account for a few years in St Pete. On the Bay Pines VA Campus there. 2 or 3 just opened here
|
Check to see if your current credit union is part of the co-op. Ours in Michigan is and we can go to Campus without ATM charges, can get cash easily without having to open new accounts. There us a daily limit on how much cash you can withdrawal but very convenient.
|
Hands down...Suncoast Credit Union. The service we have received has always been top notch.
|
Most all the Credit Unions honor the Credit Union Network. No matter which Brand you choose you can enter into almost any of them and conduct your banking as if that other Brand was your personal brach office. I'm a Credit Union User since 1991 of Coca-Cola Credit Union which only has the office in Atlanta but I use any local brands down here as needed because most are in Network.
