Comcast Cutting More Service!!
I just received a letter from Comcast that they will be reducing the amount of programs to 2 that we can record at the same time and storage will be reduced to 20 hours effective April 6th. Of course you can add DVR service for $10 per month.
What will they think of next? |
Try another provider ?

You need an internet provider and could keep Comcast, just cancel their video (which probably would get them very excited and possibly they would back down or lower the rate). Or get a cheaper internet provider (who will also probably try to get you to sign up for a TV service) we use CenturyLink. There are several options in the Villages, depending upon where you live. It seems we are playing a game with the internet + TV providers. Even for rate hikes, couples can alternate being the primary person. So when your 3 yr contract is up and the rates are / have increased, just cancel (if they let you without a rate reduction) and have your spouse call up and sign up as a new customer - so you get the discounted new customer rate. |

I got feed up with less service and paying more dumped Comcast. Got more channels, smaller and update equipment, faster internet, 2 cell phones for almost 1/2 what I was paying comlast and ATT. There lots of alternatives out there seek them out if you’re unhappy. In few years streaming going run them out of business anyway.

Dumping Comcast phone and tv.

T-Mobile has home internet for $50 flat, no fees or taxes. It includes no data caps and throttling. T-Mobile has lots of 5G throughout TV although their 4G is quite fast. I get 100 mbps in my house over 4G which is more then enough to stream multiple 4K video. Also there are no contracts to sign, no equipment fees and no hooking up cable wires. They send you a 5G/4G modem and router free of charge.
Since T-Mobile's merger with Sprint and acquiring low band 600 mhz which is excellent for in building reception they have really become much better. I would only imagine the other cell carriers will offer similar home internet and competition is good for the consumer and may once and for all humble Comcast and other providers. |

Using Century Link for internet. |
We have another year with comcast and will move on.
Will say they do have the worst customer service ever. |

We’ve had Comcast and Xfinity for several years now. We’ve been very satisfied with both.
I’m even considering Xfinity wireless to see what sort of bundle deal might be possible. Anybody out there using Xfinity wireless? |
Not a fan of regulation but its become increasingly clear that it’s time for government regulation of cable and the internet. They have become a necessary utility in today’s world.

If you want your credit rating dinged call Centurylink. If you to deal with an **** call Xfinity. If you want cheap and good go to tMobile internet gateway on your browser and signup. $50! No grief. Free modem. No rental fees. Autopay or veterans pay $50. Tech support is very slow, but aren’t they all. Mine is not super fast, but works for 3tv’s and a computer Signup up for youtubetv or Hulu. Enjoy

So far, excellent. And - I can take it with me if needed. Like a super-powered hotspot. I can't tell the difference between the TMobile home and Comcrap |
One good reason why they claim they have excellent customer service.
Few weeks ago they are offering free weekend of Starz. Figure why not and press what I thought was button giving it to me, Instead sign me up for pay service. Try to cancel and next thing I know paying for it 4x over. OK go to their website and try to contact them either by customer service immediately or by email. Cannot do this either way. Look thru website and no phone number to call. Finally go down to their store and cancel Starz. Next day get email asking me to rate their website. Give them lowest possible grade and next thing I know they cancel my survey. When you do not let customers give you poor rating you can claim whatever you want! |

Depends on where you live in TV. I'm on the north side of the O'Dell hill in Amelia. Great for rain runoff but lousy for Cellular. I barely get 1 bar on T-Mo (2 brand new iPhone 12 Pro's) and get no 5G. On AT&T I can't even make a call from my house or within a few hundred yards of it. The only service that works solid for me are Verizon and their many MVNO's, I do get some 5G on those services depending on where I am standing at the time but normal LTE service is perfect. |
Xfinity Mobile
We’ve had Comcast and Xfinity for several years now. We’ve been very satisfied with both.
I’m even considering Xfinity wireless to see what sort of bundle deal might be possible. Anybody out there using Xfinity wireless? We have had Xfinity Mobile for 6 months now. They use Verizon towers so we get the same reception we have always had. Since we don't use much data, my wife and I share 3 gigs. Total bill for both of us is $33.00 including tax. |
I just looked into CenturyLink. In my area I can get 3mbps (yes, you read that right, 3. As in, three.) for $50/month.
I'm thinking I'll stick with my 100mbps Xfinity wifi for $50/month. And when the year is up and they tell me my rates are going up because the promotional period is over, I'll give them a call and have another conversation with them. Conversation is: So, you're going to raise my rates because the promotion is over. However, I see there's a promotion for new subscribers, for the same rate I'm paying now. So here's what we're going to do: I'll cancel my service. And then, I'll sign up as a new customer on the promotional rate. OR You can just adjust my plan to extend the promotion another year, and save us all a lot of inconvenience. They adjust my plan, like they did last year, and one extra hour's work per year results in no rate increase. |

Told the lady ok expect to lose a customer. Her next comment was come in during the month of January and we can work something out. How would someone have loyalty to a business that operates like this. |

But I do agree with you about spending a few extra pennies for more options. Well worth it as long as it's not tooooo many extra pennies.  |

I was an MDU tech support trainer for DirecTV for 5 years and love their DVR's vs Comcrap but don't like their pricing structure. |
I got that letter too.....they said they made a mistake by giving me as much as they did
news flash, I'm not using it....doesn't make a bit of difference to me we just switched back to Comcast because using the fire stick was too much of a hassle for the wife, and there's no Tim Hortons near us for her to take advantage of the promotional discounts being offered lol |
