Card Board Trash Removal

New to the Villages.
What is the best way to get rid of card board boxes from a furniture delivery? Do I put it out front or is there a dumpster near my Chitty Chatty home?
Thanks

retiredguy123 03-12-2021 02:03 PM

I would put them out for the regular trash. I don't think The Villages even has dumpsters for use by residents.

Flatten and put out with your trash on pick up day.

Agreed. We were a bit embarrassed about how many boxes we were putting out the first few weeks but no problem getting them picked up

"When in doubt, put it out," has been working for me for years. I had an old grill and they sent for a special truck to pick it up.

Same here - furniture boxes one week then moving boxes for about three more. All picked up with no issue.

Post them online on Next Door or this forum for those that might be moving or need to box things up to reuse!!

Good idea, we did not know about next door when we were getting rid of our boxes or we would have given them away

Same here the trash collection is great. Hi Randallstown, Md. I live in villages of Soulliere

mlmarr1 03-13-2021 06:16 AM

Break down boxes tie in bundles and put out with your trash..

La lamy 03-13-2021 06:49 AM

Some areas still have recycling so I would definitely opt for that if it's available.

TandHSTAR@AOL.com 03-13-2021 07:36 AM

Break it down and put it our for trash.

It's a shame to throw away perfectly usable boxes, such a waste. But...I guess that is what we do in this age, unfortunately.

Hi..does anyone have the number for bulk pick up at the new company that you put everything in one bag? I have looked everywhere and can only find Waste Management's info. Thanks.

See post #3.

Post moving boxes on Next Door forum, they will be gone the same day....

cj1040 03-13-2021 09:06 AM

Advertise the boxes for free . We just moved in and I have given about 6 loads of boxes to people...

mpalazzola 03-13-2021 09:33 AM

If you can find someone that needs boxes for a move great. Otherwise, your garbage is fuel for the local power plant. Waste-to-Energy - Covanta

I live north of 466, but we just put out large boxes from furniture delivery and a TV box and they took it with regular trash. Not sure if our trash pickup is different from yours or not.

Very minimal effort cut them up with a razor knife. If, you do not have one they are cheap and very useful. You can also cut them with a sharp kitchen knife. You can then tie the pile or tape the pile together. Easy and less effort than driving them to a dumpster or whatever.

You can post 'FOR FREE' on Facebook Marketplace.
Or you can post to The Freecycle Network
I promise you will get a reply within the day. People are always moving. :)

Take them to the recycling center on Race Track Road. Tuesday & Saturday. We take all of our cardboard, paper, plastic, glass and tin over there since TV no longer recycle.

bpascani 03-13-2021 08:30 PM

I know nothing of Chitty Chatty, BUT, we still just put all of our stuff on the driveway on both days....We break down boxes, and we've never had a problem with everything being picked up. I still find it strange that we pay the same amount, perhaps more, and no longer get to recycle....SO, it seems to be less for more, IMHO...but, at least it all gets picked up.
