Not a good year for the movies. Tough to make movies when dealing with pandemic rules and closed theaters.

Since we typically have not seen the movies that are nominated and have no interest in what the winners have to say have not watched the program for years.

it's sad in a way, i used to love the Oscar's but these days are it's obsolete. actors suck, movies suck, & i don't care what they have to say. last oscars i enjoyed was in '76 when Dunaway got best actress for Network.

Movies today are HORRIBLE. The Oscars are for a bunch of entitled elitists with crazy opinions who think they should be honored for acting in such poignant films. Blah. Count me out.

I rarely watch a movie anymore. They have gradually deteriorated in just about every respect I can think of over many years. I would not recognize any of the younger stars if I ran into them face to face and could care less about that.

I would watch the Oscars,but that’s the night I cut my toenails.

I spend zero on Hollywood.

Never heard of any of them and our son is a movie trailer editor at Warner Bros. Are we the ones who are out of touch? Hmmm.

They have had very little advertising of movies on TV since COVID 19 and few movies opening here in the Villages during that time.

There have been so few movies since Covid that just about every movie made last year could be up for a nomination in any category.

Nothing of interest but phony up staging.

A lot of self serving wokes who make lousy movies. About as interested as the emmy show. They can have themselves, I watch classic movies.

A side topic re Award shows. Did anyone watch the Grammy's Sunday? A friend watched it and said it was like a pornographic show. I googled and see that Cardi B did her 'W.A.P.' with another 'perfomer' on a big bed, EXTREMELY suggestive etc etc. BTW did anyone hear actually google the lyrics to this 'song'??? I COULD NOT copy/paste onto this site - they would be deleted... And other outrageously sex-filled stuff on the show throughout.

So.... Suess and others are banned. Cancel Culture abounds. But this Crap is aired on commercial TV to any little girls and boys who may happen to tune in?

Man, I must be getting REAL old. This crap turns my stomach. I say this a couple times a day when checking News..."Our poor country"...

Some are elitists. Most do not seem to be that way. Many do a lot of good works in many areas using the platform they have to improve things.

Look as some of the people lumped together as being "Hollywood".

I have lived here in the Villages since June 2005 and no two of these are the same. Same goes for Hollywood but members of that group do have a lot more power and are a lot more visible.

A professional musician I know-- he does sound for Disney-- thought the music was great. Art pushes boundaries of what is decent and normal. Elvis did that in his time. Lady Gaga and others do it in ours.

The musician's parents used to live in the Villages and I suppose their tastes would be different from his though.

Some of the dance routines at the Grammys were raunchy and very low class.

MANK was great. It helps if you are a Citizen Kane fan.

Love Citizen Kane. I will probably buy that Blu-Ray at some point. The one for Mank. I have Citizen Kane somewhere or another.

I don't go to movies, I wait til they come to me. I watched two new films recently. The first was Nomadland. It was very depressing, the story of a broke and broken woman forced to live in her panel van. Frances McDormand was great, but she always is. The second was Coming 2 America. It was fun, Eddie Murphy is a brilliant comedian. Happy funny story. Happy ending...... it's on Prime.

How can you "hate" something that you have never seen. Be open minded. You might enjoy a nice flick.

Undoubtedly, I would be labeled "Victorian" or worse yet, just cancelled, due to my ho-hum, not interested, attitude toward the over use of "soft" (?) porn (not so "soft" these days), and the ever increasing trend to be more shocking than the last person/incident/event. And, it WORKS ! The Grammy's have been THE topic of conversation on all media and social media, and here I am commenting on the same ! Super Bowl, same thing, who can out shock and grab the "chatter". Before the election, even had presidential hopefuls displaying their admiration and friendship with Cardi-B (spelling ?), didn't even know who she was until the campaign ! Kids as young as elementary school and of all cultures, adore the filthy language of the rap "musicians". Makes no sense at all, one would think in this time of political correctness, anyone uttering words that are so disrespectful to women and other cultures, skin colors.... Oscar night used to be "fun", and gradually over the years the spot light was used more and more to make political statements... maybe everyone (sports, actors, musicians, entertainers in general ?) should consider separating their job/employment from their private lives and causes they support ?

Sex on TV and movies has evolved gradually as long as I have been alive. I consider it a good thing and it can't be changed anyway. Europe and Asia have lead the US.

I liked "Coming 2 America". It was clever! Also liked Mr. Robot on Prime, which was not new and fairly dark. 2 polar opposite experiences yet both were well done.

I never took an interest in the private lives of actors. It was just useless "gossip" to me. When I was in my twenties, I preferred European films (if I could find them). US films were mostly bland and pointless - Rock Hudson and Doris Day come to mind. Slowly, they improved.

My feeling about most of these actors is simple. Just shut up and act because no one and I mean no one really cares about what you think.
