These politicians just don’t get it. Either he has to step up to the plate and look out for us , or he will have to look for a new job.

No conflict of interest there then!:ohdear:

""A Form 6 Full and Public Disclosure of Financial Interests filed by Hage on May 5, 2020 shows that during 2019, he earned $141,003 from the Holding Company of The Villages located at 3619 Kiessel Road at Brownwood. He also earned $113,554 from T&D Distribution Inc., $14,410 from T&D Concrete Inc. and $11,000 from T&D Supplies Inc. Hage earned $29,697 for serving as a state representative.""

Needs to go.

Brett Hage is trying to protect Sumter County home buyers, businesses and employees by preventing the implementation of a drastic increase in impact fees. Some people think he should be voted out for helping county development. Notice these new commissioners are NOT proposing a rollback in homeowners property taxes which is why they were elected.

I also notice you left out Sumter County home owners from the people he is trying to protect!
I have absolutely no dog in this fight, but Mr. Hage does not seem to be playing his part for the citizens of SC. on a level playing field.
If I was a resident of SC. I would be very suspicious of his, and his sponsers motives.

Come on, now. I am new to The Villages and I certainly want to know who is going to raise my taxes. I am on a fixed budget.

Beware of "wolves" from up north bringing their ways of doing things down here. It's not good in many high tax states, which is one of the many reasons folks relocate in fl. It will be replicated if the same ideals are brought with them. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Well, who did you all vote for when he was up for re-election?!?

We elected 3 new commissioners, two of them wanted to roll it back, a third one, didn't. The one who didn't was Estep, he voted to delay....... after he voted to delay he made a bee line to Yoder and Munn for fist pumps and handshakes.

Don’t be caught up in the knee jerk.reaction. The story of The Villages and the only reason we moved here is growth growth growth. So stop trying to cancel people who produce results that benefit us. Without growth this community will become another run down retirement community. They’re all over Florida.

This is not about politics. It is about corruption. The sweetheart-impact-fee/25% tax hike is the most important issue facing Sumter County residents. The Developer owns the local media. Where else can residents discuss the issue if not on line, at sites like this one?

Why in the world would you want to shut off discussion?

In reply:

The issue here is not whether or not The Villages is a nice place to live. I will freely concede that it is. This discussion is about having local government that represents the residents, not just the Developer. There is no reason why we taxpayers should be subsidizing the Developer's business.

We are living in a community, not in a resort hotel. We deserve government that represents the people, not one special interest. Local government has become a plutocracy.

I have lived here for more than a dozen years and I have been very aware of all that has happened here and what is going on now. I have had no reason to not trust the developers. I trust the developers far more than some people with an agenda to overturn this very well functioning CDD form of Government. I suspect that some of the folks posting do have some ties to a political agenda or they simply want to run things. One of my worst nightmares.

We are newcomers here (just over a year) and the developer has done a great job building this place.

However when the developer owns the local govt that makes me very uncomfortable as his interests and ours do not always align.

I haven't seen that to be the case. The longer one lives here the more one realizes that these modest, hard working people, are decent and ethical. Many people are jealous of their immense success and many do not like successful big business of any shape or kind.

As The Villages continues to grow so do our property values and quality of life, that is the miracle of good government. I don’t know how much more responsive this government can be. Results matter. Live on!

Hage apparently gets most of his income via the developer. He should recluse himself in any dealings with the developers activities.

You probably know the answer, it's labeled "too political" when the truth leaks out, don't confuse voters with the information they may not otherwise be able t find on those who run for office.... one good example, how many take the time, and the GREAT EFFORT it takes, to research judges before they vote to "retain" them... ! ? We know that answer, same in all states, people really don't care you they vote for.... for the most part that is. The few who do, dare not discuss or tell others how to dig for the information they need before they vote !

collie1228 03-18-2021 08:49 AM

Personally, I'm very thankful to that internet news site that is not allowed to be mentioned on TOTV, for their researching and printing the information they recently published concerning Mr. Hage's income sources and political supporters. Regardless of your opinion of Mr. Hage, sunshine is the best disinfectant.
