The Masters predictions and Augusta National Trivia.

surprise, I'm going for Jordan Spieth, he's on a roll!

Two Bills 04-06-2021 04:23 AM

I would love to see Lee Westwood win, or Rory, and any of the 'Brits.'
Fancy Xander Schauffele to do well for some reason.
Phil Wossnam should call it a day, and give a place to someone with some chance of even making the cut!

rjn5656 04-06-2021 05:13 AM

Justin Thomas.

I predict that the guy who wins the green jacket will be the one with the lowest score.

What a great picture

Hape2Bhr 04-06-2021 08:45 AM

I predict it will be played in Augusta and not move like MLB all star game.

tophcfa 04-06-2021 08:53 AM

Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Justin Thomas are the favorites. I will go with D.J.

CoachKandSportsguy 04-06-2021 11:56 AM

Nobody for John Rahm? or is he too distracted with being a new dad?

I disagree

"The Dude" (DJ) repeating, while staring down "The Scientist" (DeChambeau) - with both in the last group on Sunday. I wouldn't mind seeing JT, Spieth, McIlroy, Cantlay or Xander win either though.

Oversimplified, love it!!!!

Based on the speed and condition of the greens this year, I predict that most of the putts that don't make it to the hole won't go in.

Can we quote you on this?

I agree. I think it was Lee Trevino who once said that a very high percentage of putts that are left short do not go in. :D

My pick: Dustin Johnson

Yogi Berra, 1925-2015: Famously said ’90 percent of putts that are short don’t go in’

... yes, and most players stand too close to the ball, after the stroke. :icon_wink:

I thought of playing but decided green is just not my color.

sheena0904 04-07-2021 10:37 AM

I’ve been Speith since March

Justin has to be the favorite right now but DJ also looks good to repeat.

But with this tournament you never know. It's the hardest one to get into but the easiest to win. In most cases the leading score after two round is within a few shots of the winning score and it's usually not the same guy.

The course is supposedly a bomber's paradise but how does one explain how people like Jordan
Speith, Patrick Reed, Danny Willett and Charl Schwartzel winning?

It's a great event and I'm going to miss not being their this year.

I'm Popeye! 04-07-2021 10:47 AM

I'll go with the "cheap-skate" Matt Kuchar to win.
Followed by Patrick Reed then Tommy Fleetwood.
But: My heart is with Jordan Spieth.

I have no idea what that even means.

So you battle your way to get into the tournament and then just leisurely stroll to victory?!? You’re playing against the best players in the world with even more pressure than in possibly any other event. I couldn’t disagree with you more.

I think dr. Boogie means, many former winners play and are past their prime, so some of the field is less challenging

Taltarzac725 04-07-2021 12:34 PM

Jon Rahm. I know little about golf though. It would just make a good story.

I respect what you’re saying, but I would never, ever agree that The Masters is the “easiest to win”. :)

Exaggeration.
Quite easy to get in.

I’ve been twice. If it was an easy ticket, I would go every year. My pick is Justin Thomas.

.
.
I googled and got this from CBS Sports>

2021 Masters odds
Dustin Johnson: 9-1
Justin Thomas: 10-1
Jordan Spieth: 10-1
Bryson DeChambeau: 11-1
Jon Rahm: 12-1
Rory McIlroy: 14-1
Spieth is maybe the best value play among the favorites unless you believe in McIlroy finding his very best stuff over the next few days. DeChambeau might be slightly overvalued given his relative lack of success at Augusta National. Thomas is also hot having just won The Players Championship for the first time in his career.

Patrick Cantlay 20-1
Xander Schauffele: 22-1
Brooks Koepka: 25-1
This tier is interesting because you could see some guys slide up here if Koepka withdraws as most expect. Cantlay at 22-1 seems undervalued considering the show he just put on at Austin Country Club (despite not getting out of pool play).

Collin Morikawa: 30-1
Patrick Reed: 30-1
Lee Westwood: 30-1
Tony Finau: 33-1
Viktor Hovland: 33-1
Daniel Berger: 33-1
Hideki Matsuyama: 35-1
Scottie Scheffler: 35-1
Webb Simpson: 35-1
Cameron Smith: 35-1
Tyrrell Hatton: 35-1
Sungjae Im: 35-1
Paul Casey: 40-1
Jason Day: 45-1
Sergio Garcia: 45-1
Tommy Fleetwood: 45-1
Matthew Fitzpatrick: 45-1
Joaquin Niemann: 50-1
Bubba Watson: 50-1

2021 Masters odds to win, favorites: Dustin Johnson tops board, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas lurking - CBSSports.com

There is definitely a lack of knowledge...where exactly it exists is up for debate.

How to Get Tickets to the Masters Tournament

Read through this and decide for yourself. If you’d like another zillion or so such articles to peruse, they are out there.

Can you get tickets to The Masters? Of course you can. But you need to either be very lucky or be ready pay a bundle to third party sellers.

Darling.............trying to keep this as simple as possible for you.
The statement was "hardest ticket in sports".
It's not hard, yes there might be a price, but it's not hard.
I'm giving you facts, not articles.
Facts.....easy to get online, easy to purchase on Washington Road.
Been there, done that.
Sorry the facts don't work for you.

My data back to you is based on facts...facts well known to _almost_the entire golfing community.

But I do see that facts work for you...as long as they’re your facts.

Many have called Masters Tickets the hardest ticket in sports. Is it the #1 hardest ticket? I don’t know. But as I said before, many knowledgeable people have called it one of the hardest tickets in sports. THAT is an easily verifiable fact. Sorry that fact doesn’t work for you. :)

You can go online right now and buy. Very Easy.

You can go to Washington Road tomorrow and buy. Very Easy.

Just because "many" say, does not make it fact.
Many say it, does not make it fact.

Simple Facts.
Sorry you hate facts that are oversimplified.

I'm going to vote for Justin Thomas or Jordan Speith (a personal favorite),

And let me just say I am SO GLAD the PGA took the high road and ducked all the political pressure on GA. I 100% agree with the comment that "sports should stay out of politics." If they don't... they better be consistent in their choices.

It's the most difficult to qualify for and the field is limited to ninety players. But of those ninety players about a third of them are amateurs and former champions who have almost no chance of winning.

Then a there are about fifteen or so players who would need a miracle to win.

You realistically only have to beat about fifty players have half of them are top tier players and the other half are long shots.

I can name about twenty-five players and would have a very good chance of one of them being the winner.

Having said that, while it's true that you only have to beat about 25 players or so to win, you do have to beat the 25 best. But that it true of the other three majors, and other tournaments where the top 25 show up and the top 125 all have somewhat of a chance of winning.
