Wow, awesome picture!

Are there many of these monkeys (rhesus macaques?) in the Silver Springs SP, and are they hard to spot?

Wonder if there are any here?

I remember seeing lots of monkeys at Gibraltar. They would jump on anyone with a candy bar or food. I really like animals but monkeys, IMO, are creepy.

Got into a brawl with one of those monkeys he was trying to steal my hat and decided I needed it more than him

I heard a story some time ago that they had been seen in yards along 42 in the north of the villages.
I have certainly seen lots when taking my boat up the Oklawaha and Silver River.
I also heard that they were left behind after the filming of Tarzan with Johnny Weismuller in the 1930's - you hear a lot of these stories but it's difficult to know which of them to believe.

Silver Springs State Park is home to 1000’s of monkeys. If you go kayaking, you’ll be able to see 100’s in the trees by the river.

The first time I took the boat ride in Silver Springs, that when they took you deep into the river I saw one myself and heard the same Tarzan story.

Two-three years ago police were in our Hacienda neighborhood warning residents that a monkey was in a nearby tree and not to approach him.

Could someone find out if he answers to the name Max.

Ours ran away a few years ago, thought he found the love of his life but would to know for sure.

Sorry was too busy fighting him off to ask my wife to take pictures, Maybe next time

We saw a monkey run across Rolling Acres one night just before dusk. We were between 466A and Rolling Acres.

Not Tarzan a tour boat operator brought some to the river to make it look more like as jungle back in the 1930’s

Had a bad experience there with the monkeys. Me, my husband and mom took a walk on one of the trails and encountered 2 ahead of us on the walking path. Once we stopped to take pictures of them, many more came from all sides and had us surrounded. They were jumping at us and being very aggressive. My husband yelled loud with a big roar while he jumped in the air and they all took off. Might have turned out worse for mom and I had he not been there. Scary stuff!

I also have heard that a film company brought them in and then left without them. Monkeys are. not Marti to Florida.
