Oil change for GM auto

We have our oil changed at the dealership, as part of our maintenance program. Since we are in TV, looking for a trusted place to have oil changed.. Have you used local dealer, or Sumter Tire? Have a month before it will be due. Searched TOTV site, didn’t have any business or thoughts on where to go. Thanks

dewilson58 04-12-2021 03:56 PM

What kind of GM??
I have a GMC, but I take it to Nahas Chevy "in Wildwood".
(lots of interchangeable parts)
They have given me good service..........not overly friendly service team members....but that's okay.

retiredguy123 04-12-2021 03:59 PM

Sumter Tire, 2 locations on Rt 301
Wildwood Tire, Rt 44
Firestone in Oxford

I would stay away from Tire Choice

Thanks I’ll try them. Up north, I’ve been using the same dealership for over 15 years. I have concierge service, so my car is picked up, a rental left and when the services is finished they return my car.
So I really am not used to dealing with a service department, in person. Will give Phillips a call in a couple weeks. It’s always nice to have someone recommend a place that they’ve been to.

I use Wildwood Tire on 44 just east of 301.

GMC’s oil change

I have been using Phillips for years...and love them. The service dept for oil change is great....they are quick and efficient when you go in....

kidnerkim 04-13-2021 05:12 AM

We used Phillips & have been happy

Oil Change

This one is easy. Sumter Tire and Auto - two locations on 301 in Wildwood, one just north of 466a and one just south of 466a. They are the best!

Happy Snowbird 04-13-2021 06:26 AM

Michael's..... off of 466a just before 441/27. Great service.

I have dealt with Jamie and he has been both helpful and friendly.
Price is a little high but what do you expect.

steve1025 04-13-2021 06:51 AM

I used Walmart for my oil change for passed 8 years. Good place, no con.

davephan 04-13-2021 06:51 AM

How often do you need to have your oil changed? I remember many decades ago, I used to do the oil changes myself, about 4 times a year. Today, the recommended synthetic oil change interval is 12 months or 10,000 miles for our ten year old Toyota Camry.

We always get the oil changes at the dealer, even though it probably costs a little more. Sometimes other items need to be repaired, which are found in the multipoint inspection. It’s better to maintain your vehicle properly, and drive a vehicle that doesn’t break down by the side of the road!

Tobys Dad 04-13-2021 06:59 AM

Sumter Tire and Auto In Wildwood

mrkorn12@aol.com 04-13-2021 07:08 AM

Call Mike Raysin (Michael’s Auto Repair) 352 – 365 – 2955. Address: 307 N. Villa Avenue, Fruitland Park. His shop is just west of 441, on the south side of 466A. I have used Mike for over 10 years. He is excellent. Also, he is reasonably priced and very honest. Over the years, I have sent many Villagers and others there—and always receive very positive feedback.

Rsenholzi 04-13-2021 07:24 AM

Phillips has a separate drive through center. You just show up and drive through if it’s a simple oil change

Wildwood Tire 44 near 301. Never use tire choice

barbara828 04-13-2021 07:42 AM

Nahas also. Been with them 14 yrs. Found out he paid his folks during shutdown and gave them a Christmas bonus too. Never been disappointed. Started with my Saturn when he was only in Tavares.

We definitely recommend Sumter Tire in Wildwood - about 2 blocks north of the train station on 301 in Wildwood. Run by the Williams family. Been taking care of our cars for over 8 years. Phone is (352) 748-6556.

Roxane 04-13-2021 08:28 AM

Hilton Automotive 441 just N of 42

Oil change, I have a Chevy Malibu. GM claims it requires special oil. Reduced foaming or something like that. I do have my oil changed at the dealer Nahas on route 44 in Wildwood. We've been happy.

An oil change. The person who does them is usually low person on the totem pole.
They can and do make mistakes. It is possible to cross thread the drain screw. Leave off the gasket. I had a friend years ago, not a GM car where they put the wrong oil filter on his car and it destroyed his engine.

Villages Kahuna 04-13-2021 09:02 AM

Take 5 Oil Change

I have found Take 5 Oil Change at the north end of Baylee Plaza on 27/441 to be very reliable and honest. You don’t even have to get out of your car. Nice discount for vets doesn’t hurt either

The BEST auto maintenance in TV - Hilton Automotive/42 and 441. Family owned and operated. They will even tell you when you DO NOT need anything done...(352)347-3565

rmd2 04-13-2021 11:05 AM

A big NO on Hilton Automotive!

tvbound 04-13-2021 11:14 AM

Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions, as we will be bringing our GM vehicle with us and were wondering about the quality of services from nearby auto repair/maintenance places. Another thread bookmarked.

cherylncliff 04-13-2021 02:07 PM

Michael's in Fruitland park. Good mechanic. Honest. Good prices.

I think GM is pulling your leg.

Sbensman 04-13-2021 04:35 PM

Don't go to Firestone on 466.

Car Service

We have used Tire Choice at Colony Plaza for 5 years. Joe and his team have always done a god job with fair prices.

They are very conveniently located to a lot of people. But, I think your opinion is very much in the minority, especially on this website. They rountinely upsell and over charge for repair work. In my case, they tried to charge me twice as much as the dealer for 2 motor mounts. Then, when I told them that, the guy in the shop tried to negotiate down the price. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman. Also, I am suspicious of the great reviews they have on the larger social media websites.

JoeBrut 04-14-2021 01:42 AM

Anyone can do a good oil change.

I'd say just do it Yourself but that probably doesn't help here.

J1ceasar 04-14-2021 06:39 AM

You will get a few recommendations here some retire of course is recommended by a lot. I go to Phillips Buick on 27 in Leesburg because they are closer and they have a quick change oil facility where you do not need a reservation. If it is more an oil I suggest you carefully look over your car to make sure everything was done as there's always a new mechanic being trained. A good thought wherever you go. Also make sure they refill your tires to the correct air pressure. Because if they had a truck on the left before you most probably they had reset the air pressure higher

Please shop carefully with some oil change specials? Not everyone is above board. Some places will bait and switch. Before you know it you're getting all kinds of servicing you don't really need.

Here's my experience with a dealer in the area. We bought a new suv there with top of the line features. This is a big new and used car dealer in TV area.

I brought it in for an oil change. Not for mileage but for time. My wife's car that is garaged and barely new. After waiting for the oil change I am told it's all done. I sign the papers and walk outside to where the vehicle is now parked. I start the vehicle and warning lights go off. Stop the engine. Lift up the hood.

Not a drop of oil in the vehicle. Nothing. Oh big apologies and two free oil changes.

I bring it in again for an oil change. Still under warranty. It's delivered to me. I sign the papers. Pop open the hood. The tip of the dipstick is where the oil is filled. It's down a full quart. They add the oil.

Recently my wife went back for an oil change again. Vehicle is 4 years old and 18k miles. I check it afterwards and it shows ok on the dipstick but not totally full.

I call service department and speak to the manager. My wife is charged for 7 quarts of oil but they only put in 6.7. Service manager says that's their policy. Baloney.

The day we bought this top of the line suv I went home and popped open the hood. Both vents clogged with leaves.

Bad place.

We just bought an expensive SUV of the same make this dealer sells but somewhere else way outside of TV.

Sad.

How about a GM dealer. Yellow pages, internet.
