Litter

Is it just me or have you noticed more litter throughout the villages south of 44.
I saw a runner crunch his water bottle and just throw it in the grass. Of course I yelled at him, but he either ignored or didn’t hear me

jebartle 04-22-2021 04:23 AM

Lots of palm tree litter.

graciegirl 04-22-2021 07:27 AM

Usually, in the new areas, where construction is still happening, there is more discarded trash from the construction workers. They don't live here so they don't pay attention like the residents do.

Mortal1 04-22-2021 08:22 AM

welcome to planet earth. it is near impossible to shame anyone who litters. they just don't care...unless caught and ticketed for the max.

stan the man 04-22-2021 08:34 AM

No, I don't believe it - south of 44 !!!

Flwxman 04-22-2021 08:45 AM

Dog poop

I think whats even more worse is so called responsible dog owners letting their dogs poop on peoples lawns. And being told by them that its all right they pick it up. No that doesn't make it right. Whats even more disgusting is people letting their dogs lift their leg and pee on the columns at the mail stations. Why don't they let their dogs crap on their lawns ? Even if they pick up their poop , pee has damaged my lawn. I shouldn't have to tell anyone not to let their dog poop on my lawn.Supposedly there's a responsible dog owners club here in the villages i suggest you people that let your dog crap all over the place join it and learn and take responsibility for your 4 footed poop 💩 machine

bilcon 04-22-2021 09:47 AM

More litter everywhere in TV. Buena Vista, Morse Blvd. Hey it's a public road. I remember seeing Villagers who picked up litter while they were out for their morning walk.

Professor 04-23-2021 05:31 AM

Guess you had not had your coffee yet when this was created. People who pick up after their pets are responsible people in my book. Of course, I am of the glass half full mentality rather than the glass half empty side of the house...

tsmall22204 04-23-2021 06:00 AM

No sense of community.

Also keep in mind, there are a lot of construction workers south of 44

merrymini 04-23-2021 06:52 AM

I have never had a dog who peed or pooped on command.

J1ceasar 04-23-2021 06:54 AM

Blame everybody but this disposable society. I bet you if they had that 10 cent deposit on plastic bottles you wouldn't see any on the roads. Florida is very lazzaie Faire, when it comes to a lot of common sense anti pollution moves, eco laws . I've yet to hear of anyone ever getting fined for throwing a cigarette butt out their car window or a piece of paper

Joe C. 04-23-2021 07:10 AM

I had a Lab that would pee on command. When he went to the vet for his checkup, the vet would give me a jar and tell me that he needed a urine sample. I told him to "hang on, I'll be right back". I'd take the dog outside and tell him.."Snickers....go pee" and when he lifted his leg, I got the sample and went back inside to the vet's. He was one unique dog.

Very clean in Hawkins.

Mlogan22@tampabay.rr.com 04-23-2021 07:25 AM

That was funny four-footed poop machine. I guess your a two footed poop machine.

Chi-Town 04-23-2021 08:07 AM

Not littering is a function of
upbringing. I've seen people drop trash on the ground next to a waste container. Thankfully not here, yet.

tophcfa 04-23-2021 08:14 AM

More people, more litter. The Villages is growing very rapidly.

davem4616 04-23-2021 08:16 AM

could you tell if it was a Poland Springs plastic water bottle or a generic Publix's brand?

FromNY 04-23-2021 08:16 AM

Since pandemic start when out walking I take a plastic bag and pick up discarded masks. Bending is great for the waistline. Keeps the critters safe from getting caught in the earloops. Use the bag or a glove to protect self. Personally the schools could use litter pickup as a form of community service. Get those youngsters moving and away from the screens. Remember only humans litter. Animals don't.

That’s really bad behavior.

PugMom 04-23-2021 09:07 AM

i have NOT seen it, probably due to the efforts of post #19. Thx!!

zendog3 04-23-2021 10:01 AM

I think it highly possible that the runner picked up the plastic bottle on the way back. I have not been a runner for years, but I remember that carrying something while running is a pain. I would very likely have set an empty bottle down and picked it up on my return home.

In my neighborhood, LOTS of people walk their dogs down the street. The dogs do what dogs do on random lawns and the walkers pick up the poop. No lawns seem to suffer! That said, your lawn is your property. If you do not want dogs to poop on it, you could put up one of those little hunching dog signs and all dog owners will respect your wishes.

Please consider this a plea. We are all retired now. Some folks lighten up, others tighten up. Relax. Cut your fellow man a little slack. If someone is harming you, by all means, speak up. But, if your neighbor is guilty of not living life to your standards try to ignore it. We are all old now. Soon enough God will have a little chat with the guy who let his dog poop on your lawn. You can rest assured he will deal harshly with the guy who didn't pick it up.

stebooo 04-23-2021 10:01 AM

Well how terrible of you!!! That Runner can't carry the weight of an empty plastic bottle while he's running

I would have picked it up and ran after him and told him he dropped this

mjpuleo 04-23-2021 12:21 PM

owners of pets should let their pets pee and poop on their own property and then take them for a walk. don't blame the pet, blame the owners walking them.

ctmurray 04-23-2021 12:29 PM

I am actually amazed how low the litter is around where I live.

As a snowbird I have another place to compare with. Here if I see litter, say driving down Buena for a game of lawn bowls. When I return it is gone. Some nice person on the multimodal path, or a landscape worker, has picked this up. In my northern residence I think no one but me picks up anything. More littering and less trash pick up.

chuckpedrey 04-23-2021 02:16 PM

Recently I was waiting for an outside table at Red Sauce and a lady let her bull dog lift its leg to pee on the pillar at the front door of the restaurant.

Well on a positive note, pee is biodegradable.

Someone let a large dog poop on the concrete at the entrance of the swallowtail mailboxes in monarch grove the other day. I wish there were cameras to find this thoughtless, ignorant loser of a human being. It was disgraceful. They don’t deserve to own a dog.

Curtisbwp 04-24-2021 12:44 PM

Hmmm. People who were slobs before moveing to TV WILL still be slobs while liveing in TV. No changing that. Look into their home state/city to understand hoq they are accustomed to liveing.

bpascani 04-24-2021 03:54 PM

When we got our 1st dog(puppy) when we lived in New England, my real estate agent told me how to train the pup to pee/poop on command. Her reasoning was, when winter time, snow and wind are here, you are NOT goin to want to stand around...so we did. Also, when we moved here, I temp fostered a large dog. Do to a false accusation from a neighbor, I taught that 3 yr old large dog to poop in a bag!

bobdeb 04-25-2021 02:44 PM

I have a lamp post in front of my yard. All pups are welcomed to sniff and pee there at their pleasure. And thank you for picking up after them.

It's just a bit of grass that eventually grows back. All pups welcome.

It's must be "the birds", right @kcrazorbackfan?

But... but... it's the end of April.
