Golf Cars
I’m looking to get our first gas cart and was wondering if anyone has an opinion between buying at the Villages or buying outside. I here it’s a few thousand less expensive going outside but are the service just as good. Ordering this week before I go back north. Thanks in advance. KDH

"A few thousand"................probably just buyer bragging.
It's been years, but I found "a few hundred" savings. Ocala & The Villages will give you detailed pricing sheets........jus compare the slight differences. May want to consider Discount Carts on 466, just East of Morse. Keep in mind, these are USED carts, with nice paint jobs. Used engines. (you can put a dress on a pig, but it's still ___________) |

Used by a little old lady. Hum, was that the little old lady from Pasadena in the song. What WE pay for golf carts. Does make me wonder. It is a single cylinder air cooled engine with a single speed transmission and brakes on the rear wheels only. A riding lawnmower. |
I saved $3000 by going to The Village Discount Golf Cart store. The Village store was offering a 2019 for $16k and I got a practically new 2018 for $13k, it had 20 hours on it.

Outside of the Villages , places inside the Villages think we're all rich.

I used I4 Power Equipment in Webster. Saved $2000 on a new Yamaha cart. Took care of a warranty problem. Lots of local service people that will come to your house.

Yes, you can get a cart less expensive than going someplace other the The Villages Golf Cart - this is discussed, literally every week on here.
Those less expensive carts are not new, they are refurbished - they might have been used at PGA events, or a resort, etc. Most will say golf carts will run forever, so that doesn’t matter. Just when you find out you pay less someplace - you are not comparing apple to apples, you are usually comparing new to refurbished. One other thing, Villages Golf Cart gives you a free loaner while they are building your cart. They probably are at 4 months for the build. Not sure the time to delivery at other places |

Bought new at Carts and Clubs just south of Ocala. Annual service at your residence. Very pleased.

We recently bought a new 2021 Yamaha electric from Country Village Power Equipment in Webster. Place doesn't look like much from outside but big showroom inside and we did save thousands of the Villages salesrooms.

Keep in mind, when the gas gauge (time meter) is replaced...........the hours start over. There is nothing out there protecting the consumer. |
Bought brand new two years ago at Carts and Clubs, we priced against Villages and saved $1,000. Very similar equipment, the mirrors are slightly different. Service is at your home for Carts and Clubs. Make sure you know the process for servicing from any dealer outside the Villages.

I have been very happy with the cart I bought 2 years ago from I-4 Power in Webster.
It was a brand new 2019 Yamaha Quiet-Tech. They come to my door to service it (no repair issues yet, just routine service). I can't remember exactly how much I saved vs. buying inside the bubble, but it was in the neighborhood of $3000... I would recommend you include them in your price shopping, and I would recommend you not be scared away by the fact that they are off campus. IF anything, it might be more convenient to have them drive up to your door and do their service at your place, than you taking it to the Villages garage. I couldn't be happier. I bought new at the time because there weren't many Quiet-Techs available used. I wouldn't be nervous about buying a used one from a reputable used cart guy. Talk you your friends and neighbors to see if they have any positive experiences from someone who sells and services used carts. If I were buying today, I would definitely look into that avenue as well. |

Not true if you leave the bubble. If you go to Carts and Clubs or Webster the carts are brand spanking new, just like The Villages Cars. That would be apple to apple. |

We checked carts and prices in and outside TV and ultimately purchased from The Villages Golf Carts in Brownwood. As said repeatedly, we paid a bit more. However, during the 12 week for the our cart to be delivered, we were given a loaner. So, we felt the price difference was worth the convenience.

Our recent cart shopping experience
We just bought a new Yamaha for $12.5K from County Village Power Equipment in Webster. Discount Carts wanted the exact same price for a 2017 of unknown origin and hours, and when I offered $10K, he just laughed.
I almost bought a new Club Car from Cart World for $10K -- until he told me he wanted $1000 down and couldn't guarantee delivery within 4 months (or after that, either, but he was certain it would be at least four months). They've got a lot full of new carts, but none are gas powered. Apparently, the factory has been shut down because of Covid. Villages Golf Carts didn't have any carts to sell in stock, either, and they were $3K higher. Webster had them in stock, but it was three months to get the Sunbrella. We bought the demo off the sales floor, just for the sunbrella. It still took two weeks for them to get it ready to deliver because there were 40 other carts ahead of us. I had to laugh -- this was our first new car in 33 years! And it was even the same price as our 1988 Chevy Astro Van! |
IMO plenty of good 2 or 3 years old carts for sale for less than half price. There no way I would pay 14K plus for golf cart when I can get same one few years old for around 7K or less. Sure you have to know what you’re looking at or have somebody with general knowledge look at it.

I was hoping that my “used” yamaha had only been driven by Tiger at the Masters….

I understand the differences, but I can't seem to get why a quality lawn tractor costs $3000 and a golf cart costs $12,000.
