It's an airline rule. Recently a guy was kicked off a flight (SW, think) for not masking while eating a snack.

Seems like a lot of phony baloney going on! Some want to stay on the same old subjects or find a way to talk of mask and vaccines all the time. While the country is getting worse and worse. Hypocrisy everywhere, shortages in every industry, buckle up we are in for a ride! Food, tp, gas, lots of difficulty ahead. Have faith in God!

Isn't there a government mandate for masking on airline flights? That might be the reason for the masking. I see no reason why a new precedent could see a relaxation of this mandate for fully vaccinated flights. Then people can eat on airplanes without having to mask between bites and sips. (Honestly the silliest guidance to come out of this pandemic).

Yes, and according to the guy who was kicked off, he was not aware of that masking rule to mask between bites.

So the fully vaccinated passengers are masked on the plane but when they get off of the plane they are reunited with relatives who are largely not wearing masks?

perhaps this group of people will be studied so that future flights can be maskless. people want to just start doing things before research is completed. I understand that some people find wearing a mask more burdensome than others, but I prefer erring on the side of caution.

The whole purpose of getting vaccinated in the first place is so that you no longer have to worry about this nonsense. Or at least that is my view.

According to the CDC the count as of the end of April there are 9000 plus cases of breakthru covid19 of those fully vaccinated.

2 weeks ago the number the CDC gave was 5,318 breakthrough cases. Was it revised to 9,000 a few days later, maybe. But you left out the denominator of 85,000,000 making the rate 0.008%. Did they revise the denominator as well???? If it went to 100 million, then YOUR rate is now 0.009%.-----BFD

Doubt it will ever be zero. After all, 24 people/year are killed by champagne corks, 13 are killed by toppling vending machines, and 150 are killed by falling coconuts.

That doesn't mean we live in fear of coconuts or walk around everywhere with a steel umbrella.

I am fully vaccinated, and would love to fly without a mask, however, it is not us passengers who are making the rules.

Seems kind of silly to pull your mask down between bites of food or sip of a drink, then pull it back up after a bite.

I celebrate it!!!!!! What do you expect? We as a country were very, very close to driving CV to zero and into the history books. But, no......the anti-vaxxer propaganda swept in from Moscow and the anarchists, and the unpatriotic, and the outright society-hating types talked up and relayed that propaganda. So, now they have succeeded in stopping US Health and Medical Science in its tracks. There is even crazy, crazy talk being circulated like that Dr. Fauci started the CV. Are we in a MENTAL hospital or what?

The only thing left is for vaccinated people to group together to keep their sanity and TRY (?) to continue keeping the US economy floating. We were so close - we could have STOPPED the CV from mutating in the US.

I think that the country is improving. We stopped short of fascism - that has to be a positive.

Isn't there a federal mandate for everyone to be masked on airplanes? Even though the passengers were all vaccinated, don't they still have to abide by the federal mandate? Maybe if fully vaccinated flights are in our future, federal mask mandates can be relaxed for those flights.

I get what you are saying. The masking between bites and sips is to minimize the amount of virus (if the person is infected but asymptomatic) that escapes their nose and mouth. It is all about the viral load that can potentially be in the exposure to an unsuspecting person who is close to them in proximity. This silly rule has nothing to do with protecting the wearer of the mask.

Believe me, I think this rule is ludicrous but I understand the reasoning for it. I will never eat on an airplane as long as these ridiculous rules are in effect. I have, however, mastered how to take sips of a drink in between masking.

That is actually a FANTASTIC stat after MILLIONS of doses given of these vaccines. There have been no reported deaths directly from the mRNA vaccines that again.....fantastic news. I wonder how many hospitalizations have occurred from these breakthrough infections? THAT would be an interesting stat. Anyone know?

When I pull my mask down, I pull it from very edges of the mask that touch my cheeks near my ears. That is the safest way I have found to pull it down.

Who cares? Mass hysteria and a bunch of cult worshipers of Fauci, the Dr that hasn't practiced medicine in over 50 years. Run little lemmings. Now, he is telling everyone of his cult peons and worshipers that they must continue to wear masks as a future part of their new lifestyles. Been on all the flights I needed to go on and I never wore a mask. I don't plan to fly ever again and they can't make me wear a mask in my own car. I went along with the mask cr@p before the vaccinations, but I am not a cult member of the mask society now that I've had my shots. Going to get on with my life. Never wore a mask for any illness in my lifetime and am not going to subscribe to the mask hysteria now. The mask did serve it's purpose and I applaud all those that reluctantly went along with the well meant idea of lowering the fatality stats. Time to move on and return to normal life. I am not going to wear a mask just because some seem intent on comparing it to wearing a seat belt. I am not worried about becoming infected, so if you are worried about me infecting you, I have my shots and will not infect you. If you are still worried, then stay your distance.

As of yesterday, I made a decision to follow the signage on any establishment that I desire to enter.

If the sign says, "Masks REQUIRED" - I wear my mask.

If the sign says, "Masks RECOMMENDED" - I will not wear a mask.

If there is no posted sign - I will not wear a mask.

I feel liberated not always having to mask up. Hubby is on the same page as me.

I have no idea if there is testing or not. I just never touched my mask in the front but there is absolutely no science to that as far as I know. As for the escaping of air, my masks fit pretty snug on the sides of my face. That masking/unmasking is what I have been doing when I go to the gym. They have had a policy that a mask must be worn at all times with the exception of when you are actively working out (being that you are stationary and not moving about in the gym). I also use the sanitizer to clean the touch points on every machine when I'm done using that machine.

As of yesterday, I stopped wearing my mask at the gym because their signage now says, "Masks RECOMMENDED" and is no longer required. Baby steps, right?

Dr.Fauci is a national treasure. He devoted his life to helping people. I respect that! Wearing masks stopped the regular flu in its tracks in both the US and Australia. Thus, again proving the worth of masks. Dr. Fauci probably knows that the anti-vaxxers will screw up the US attempt to drive CV to zero. That is why we may need to keep our masks on for years. Do NOT dare to blame Dr. Fauci when it is the vaccine-hesitant and the anti-vaxxers that are to blame for ANY inconvenience from masks. Just ask who is to blame as the CV mutates into more deadly variants. Hint.......it is NOT Dr. Fauci!
