Women’s Clothes

Where’s a great place to buy ladies clothes? I am moving from Maryland and my summer wardrobe is in need of an update!

JMintzer 05-24-2021 10:02 AM

My wife likes Anthony's in Colony Plaza...

BTW, what part of MD? We're still only part time Villagers, (until I retire in a few years), but we're just outside of DC, in Potomac...

mskaggs 05-24-2021 10:13 AM

We are up 95 from you, in Havre de Grace. Prob about 1.25 hrs from Bethesda, Hyattsville area. So happy to be ditching Maryland winters!!!

Michread 05-24-2021 11:31 AM

Talbots is my favorite.

La lamy 05-24-2021 11:45 AM

I like Beall's. They have tons of cool sportswear, day/evening looks, shoes, bags... everything you need in my book.

Nanax4 05-24-2021 11:58 AM

Chico's in Spanish Springs

JSR22 05-24-2021 12:20 PM

Soft Surroundings in Spanish Springs
Evelyn and Arthurs in Brownwood

There are not many stylish clothing stores in TV.
Dillards is in Ocala
Mall of Millenia in Orlando
Tampa International Mall has some very nice stores including a gigantic Dillards

If you're looking for never worn, expensive women's clothing and shoes, they're in my wife's closet's'.

Which brings me to, are there any women's clothing consignment shops still open? (It's worth a shot...)

Bealls is a family owned Florida company and everything is pretty much geared to the Florida lifestyle.

I've found quite a few nice pieces at Marie Rose, including a butter-soft leather jacket for $50.00. I like that they have the Chico's product separate from other brands.

Thanks all!! I knew I could count on you :-)

Amazon prime wardrobe. Try before you buy is where I shop. Things That don’t work I send back. After 6 months my shopper gets very little wrong.
My mom loves Anthony’s, not really geared for my taste.

My wife has a large walk in closet full of clothes and always says she has nothing to wear.

Anthony's in Colony Plaza

bowlingal 05-25-2021 04:59 AM

As for men’s clothing, I buy most of mine from Lands End and underwear from Sam’s Club or Amazon. Shoes from AllBirds. (Grin) Doesn’t take much.

airdale2 05-25-2021 05:59 AM

Any thrift store

LucyP 05-25-2021 06:17 AM

Beall’s of Florida!

J1ceasar 05-25-2021 06:23 AM

If you want to donate I take things I used for the forest people of Ocala. Really

clothing in the reality of Florida

I appreciate your wife likes to dress up and enjoy your money. To be honest, unless you do a lot of charity events, most people are extremely casual here in Central Florida. As an example most men that I know have two pair of sandals some khaki shorts and polo shirts. I didn't bring much with me when I came down 20 years ago. As for the woman is nowhere to to wear fancy stuff generally speaking unless she goes out to a better restaurant with you and even then most women here don't take care of themselves as well as they did back in their old hometowns. It is nice however to see the woman that do take care of themselves dress up nicely. But I really want worry too much about it.

Most of the stores have been mentioned that are local, I would also add if your wife does like the shop there are quite a few Marshalls and TJ maxx's in the Orlando area where she can get bargains on more expensive items, also if you want to drive to Orlando this is some of the bigger malls there are the usual better department stores as well as some of their discount outlets.

LaneyBeckler 05-25-2021 06:33 AM

About 2 weeks ago, I found really nice, reasonably-priced summer dresses at Kohl's.

Villagesgal 05-25-2021 06:48 AM

Bealls. They often have BOGO sales and always check all their clearance racks at 50 to 90 percent off you can't beat them and they carry all the really good brands.

Maire Rose in Summerfield Baily Plaza. Great consignment

Beware, that may lead to looking for a divorce lawyer... :icon_wink:

Plus the 9% stat tax (Kensington/Frederick)

Marykschulz 05-25-2021 08:28 AM

Patchington at Spanish Springs also carries a nice selection of “Florida” style clothing.

tlschuelke@comcast.net 05-25-2021 08:29 AM

Anthony’s is great!

Last stop for me was Aspen Hill. Um, no suggestions for clothing -- haven't worn out all the excess I brought with me.

very nice store- i got some really nice dresses there. it can be pricey, but i balance that off by choosing Bealls as my go-to place

Kcarbfaith 05-25-2021 08:54 AM

If you are average size or smaller many stores in The Villages however if you are a plus size there are no stores that sell quality stylish things. You will have to go to Ocala.

Another vote for Talbots! Fashionable casual clothing a cut above what you'll find at Bealls and Belk. Perfect for not only the Florida lifestyle, but anywhere. More tailored than the "flow-y" styles you'll find at Chico's and Soft Surroundings.

BetsyMae 05-25-2021 10:05 AM

I definitely like Anthony's in Colony Plaza as well, but I get most of my tops at Bealls on 441 by Lowes. They have light weight tops perfect for our weather called Reel Legends. They have sales all the time. 10% off on Tuesdays for seniors, too. I have at least 20 of them !

kbogli 05-25-2021 10:11 AM

I was always a Kohls shopper when we lived North, I checked Lady Lake Kohls and all drab looks. Some friends took me to Bealls there is one in the Villages. Nice summery clothes, lots of brand names and great prices. I enjoyed shopping there, my Kohls days are over :)
